princetom1:WhatsApp > Select user > view contact > custom notification > check ✓ use custom notification > message notification tone > click APPLY against any desired tone available. NB: If you need customised tone, you can download MP3 or create, say, 10sec MP3 file and add it to your ringtones folder, else na only stock tones you'll have access to. 2 Likes 2 Shares

GrandMufti: Maybe there are no official pronouncements but that doesn't override the fact that it is wrong for them as a brand to make fones of the same model with different sourced parts. Definitely one will turn out well than the other. Now, some customers are lucky to get ones with a better camera while some are left in a sorry state —even though they might have all paid the same amount depending on the seller. Xiaomi should have just given them different names just like they distinguished note 4 and let us make our choices. No one is cheated you say? Imagine, I paid same amount as most people here, we are probably enjoying same functions but some are enjoying a better camera. NB: I won't be this disappointed if all RN4Xs are the same but subjecting me luck is what I don't fancy. BTW I got to know about the camera sensors used in RN4X on the MIUI forum and not here 2 Likes |

Olakunlae: Sourcing parts from different vendors didn't start with note 4, and will certainly not stop there. It has been their business model. How you arrived at the conclusion that pics taken with Samsung sensors end up in sorry state, is certainly beyond me. So phones like note 3 pro or redmi 3s pictures are awful? You should compare the pictures from redmi 3s and note 4x (Sony sensor) and see for yourself If you are still worried about sourcing for parts from different vendors, then I'm afraid to remind you that the fingerprint sensor also comes in 2 variants, Goodix and FPC 1 Like |

Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by scotweezy(m): 6:26am On Aug 11, 2017 |
GrandMufti:There is no point in defending Xiaomi here, my brother no be only you like Xiaomi, we all probably do here. The point is, Xiaomi bleeped up. There is no two ways about this argument. The Redmi note 4/4x with Sony sensors are better than the ones later fitted with samsung and another I just heard of. Making an official statement statement about it would have atleast made buyers aware of what they are likely to get. Just because I like something or someone no mean say make I no yarn am correct truth. Infact people you love are the ones you should scold the more. 3 Likes |

jboixxx:This same ish caused coding problems for third party rom makers on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 SD. They had to code specially for varying fingerprint sensor. |

Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by saintkenny(m): 6:41am On Aug 11, 2017 |
scotweezy: That might explain Xiaomi's complex naming schemes where there's a pro, prime, X and all sorts of affixes for a single product. It'll be comfortable to hide under the caveat of peculiarities for particular nomenclature knowing fully well that enthusiasts may not pay attention to details. Even gsmarena doesn't attempt to have all the variants of a product listed or conveniently skip mentioning branded components. |

Olakunlae: Can you upload samples of pictures that you took and didn't come out well? If you over think this issue, you might end up not enjoying your phone. My take though. Pretty sure that Xiaomi are not the known brand to source different parts from different vendors for the same device. |

Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by seyema(m): 6:59am On Aug 11, 2017 |
Olakunlae: God bless you, This sametin I talked about some times ago but because of people's love for xiaomi, they just don't want anybody to criticize them even when they are doing something wrong. I even challenge the seller and vow not to buy from their store again since I thought they might be one who did that ojoro but later found out that they aren't when I read other people's complaints about it on Gsmarena. |
