Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by shrekandfiona: 1:05pm On Aug 13, 2017 |
olulumdp:Please come clean in all. There's a part in the form where it ask if ever denied a visa b4. I don't know if there is an additional space for the reason. But if there is, kindly explain all in the space provided. After explaining, let them know you have learnt from your mistakes. Ps: you said the agent stated you had been to ghana/togo, did he put a fake stamp for you? Were you banned? All the best in your clean slate. Cheers |

Royals1:You can rectify the mistake by calling the customer care or using the feedback button on your CGI profile |

Thank you so much "smile" ... No he didn't put a stamp, he said if one travelled to any west African countries via Air that you don't get stamped in blah blah lol.. Yes, If there is a space to explain all in the form I will do all that but if not, do you suggest I start the conversation during the interview? It's really a CLEAN STATE! Smile... shrekandfiona: |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by KaptainAfrika: 1:21pm On Aug 13, 2017 |
1. Put your mind off getting a visa. This is an interview to come clean, for future applications. 2. In the space for why were you refused a visa or in the space for did you misrepresent; write out the truth of what happened. olulumdp: |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by shrekandfiona: 1:26pm On Aug 13, 2017 |
olulumdp:No please, don't start your conversation with your misrepresentation. Flow with the interview. Try establishing your ties: travel, family & work. Answer only questions you're asked honestly. The VO may or may not bring it up. Just fill your DS form correctly with the truth. Ps: just my opinion, others may feel differently. Cheers |

Thank you so much. Yes, I get your point. That's what I said in my first post, I don't mind been refused - i just want to clear things up. QUESTION Do you suggest I start the conversation about the false information in my previous application during the interview? Or I should let the VO point it out since I would have stated in the form. Some kind people like you gave me advices but I want to weigh all and make a good decision. I appreciate! KaptainAfrika: |

Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by cosade(m): 2:51pm On Aug 13, 2017 |
olulumdp: Without prejudice to suggestions already offered, when completing your D160 form, I suggest you state a generic response in the box after the Question on if you've been refused US visa. Something "Yes, I was refused B1/B2 visa in 2015 principally because of the mistakes made on my DS160 form, by the person that assisted me to complete it then". During the interview, the VO would have seen it on your form. If no question is asked in this respect, I won't suggest you bring it up since the VO already knew you were denied before. With your good travel history the VO is likely to be optimistic in assessing your strong ties, rather than being pessimistic. 1 Like |

Thank you so much. I really do appreciate your contribution. All contribution makes sense to me now. Do you think I should just state in the form while explaining that the person that helped me fill the form made a mistake or i should explain in details all the false information in the previous application/form? Again, thanks and God bless!! cosade: |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by cosade(m): 3:38pm On Aug 13, 2017 |
olulumdp: Go through my post again, I think I have answered your question. On the form, if I were you, I'll simply state that the person that assisted me to fill the form made some mistakes. And wait for the VO to ask me for specifics during interview, if interested. 1 Like |

Thank you so so much...I appreciate! Lastly, there is a section at last page which ask "if you fill the form yourself" I think the agent puts my name as the person that fills it. I hope they will believe me when I state in the form that the person who assisted in filling the form made a mistake..... (I'm just thinking like, they might think his name should be there as the agent who filled it) Pls reply. Sorry for my wahala Cheers cosade: |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by cosade(m): 4:15pm On Aug 13, 2017 |
olulumdp: It is not strange for Agents to state that no assistance was given in completing the form. Even if it was stated that someone assisted you in filling the form, the responsibility is still yours. So for me, the most important thing is that you have admitted some mistakes were made in an earlier form. Like everyone have said here, the VO is likely not to be too harsh with you because of your travel history. What travel history does is to support the postulation that you did not intend to obtain undue advantage with those mistakes. |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by OmoBendel24: 4:22pm On Aug 13, 2017 |
olulumdp: It's on you surely, whether an agent filled it or not, you endorsed it by signing and submitting so to speak, and that is what you are righting now. Just go ahead, be upfront in your form filling - tactically - this time, if it will come up it will. Genuinely, by smartness you will know when necessary to do so too during interview, if it's not you should know. However, the last thing you will want to do is playing a fast one on a VO, that will be case closed. There are questions designed to find you out or deliberately set you on the right course if not to even bait you, do as you have desired to do, ensure your records get straightened, let that remain your primary aim, if it comes with extra goodies good for you too.... |

1. Fill the appropriate section, when filling your form (I don't which one it is) 2. Be honest when answering the questions. 3. If the VO mentions something like (I heard this during my 1st interview), for example; last time you said X, but now you are saying Y. COME CLEAN , DO NOT USE "THE AGENT DID IT" AS AN EXCUSE , BE HONEST ENOUGH TO ACCEPT THAT THOUGH YOU KNEW IT WAS A LIE , YOU STILL WENT ALONG WITH IT , AND THAT YOU HAVE LEARNT YOUR LESSON AND WISH TO THROW YOURSELF AT THE MERCY OF THE VO. It might or might not work. 4. If you have been banned, the VO will let you know. I DONT KNOW THE PROCESS OF APPLYING FOR A WAIVER. olulumdp: |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by KaptainAfrika: 4:54pm On Aug 13, 2017 |
And also let us know how it went. There are a lot of people like you, who made this mistake and are hoping for some way of rectifying their mistake. olulumdp: |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by shrekandfiona: 5:07pm On Aug 13, 2017 |
olulumdp:I am not usually this engaging but this is what i'll do/fill if it was me.In the form that states if i have ever misrepresented or denied a visa b4, I'll state yes, if there's a column to explain, I'll elaborate thus: "I used an agent in filling form and in so doing i misrepresented. I lied about having an uncle in the US, i lied about travelling to ghana /togo when i had no travel history, i lied about etc. I will state all the lies. However, i know better now and will like to correct my mistakes" If you can state in all in the DS form, better for you as the VO may not even bring it up during the interview as your form was self explanatory enough. Just answer the questions being asked by the VO while establishing your ties. However, if you don't/cannot state it on your form, then you can bring it up with the VO at commencement of your interview as suggested by seyewest. Cheers. |
