God bless u in abundance! Some people wuld go to sch and study very hard and make 1st class and 2:1 and some would go to sch have fun and grad wit 2:2 and third class and u want to enjoy d same fate as d former in d labour market. It not all about the grade i graduated with a 2.2(which was unfortunate anyway) but by the grace of GOD i have never failed a job apptitude test in my life. I am at a point in my life where i am being selective about the kind of job i want.
Your grade should not be a death sentence be bold and confident in yourself, open your mind to learning new things everyday, get professional certification, and learn new skills and network alot, i tell you the sky would be your starting point.
Anytime i see job adverts that ask for only 2.1 to apply, all i do is smile and say 'these people do not know what they have missed by not having me in there team' then i move on to greater things.

With nigeria's poor grading system?
Pls don't celebrate that luke jackpot
If u 2.1 is to be converted to some European college's grading scale, u will end up having 3rd class or a 2.2.
After all,ist class here is just 70-75%
But u need 90% here to smell first class.
And at the end,it's not about ur grade but God grace and ur skills.in as much as we pursue grade,we should also believe that we too,can be self employed and also employ others.its possible when the mindset is there.
Oga leave that thing you are saying, if I happen to be schooling over there, I will make more than 2.1, at least I know that am studying in a conducive environment, learning with good equipment from unbiased unsortable lecturers, my cousin's friend went outside Nigeria to study, and is topping her class over there but she wasn't doing so well when she was in a Nigeria university.

Any lecturer that woo a lady like you must surely be a tasteless and classless man. You made your 2.1 through hardwork and it really shows in your makeup self. NB- Even 2.2 is no more relevant these days again. It's either you make first class or nothing. You can use masters to upgrade your 2.1.
You are very stupid to say such, in short you are useless, if it is paining you too much, come and collect my 2.1.

Am I the one that stopped you from making a 2.1 while in school?

2-1, 2-2 third class is all bullshit in Nigeria! Oga stop whining. I know third class people out there with good jobs, and not the work of connections.
In a country like Nigeria, what determines your success is how smart you are(street smartness and intelligence), how hard you can hustle, the skills you equip yourself with and the network you build.
If you feel like a 2-2 is bringing you down, why don't you enhance yourself: get a masters' degree, get reputable certifications, acquire new skills, go for professional conferences and lectures and expand your network. Your grade is not holding you down. When first class and 2-1 graduates have not even finished finding jobs. The thing is Nigerians are generally lazy and they don't want to take that extra step that'll take them places. They'd rather sit at home and cry about how there are no jobs, how a particular grade is looked down on. Nobody wants to leave their comfort zone.

This is just the honest truth, most Nigerians are mentally lazy, they can't think outside the box.
Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates were dropped outs but they changed the world through the power if thinking,
This grades of a thing is really annoying, and grades are overrated in this country.
If I was an Employer, I would pick a 3rd class graduates with skills over a first class graduate without skills.

Exactly! I'd rather pick a 3rd class graduate who has developed himself with necessary skills and knows his line of work very well. That's why I love the company I work in. The CEO is the kind of person that'll employ a university drop out that is very smart, skillful and can perform the job requirements flawlessly over an average first class grad.

Nigerians should stop having this mentality. Having 2.2 doesn't make it difficult to get a job. You won't be given any job if you don't impress the interviewers. Your poor performance during interview is not as a result of your 2.2.

In my office, many 2.1s and 2.2s are employed as long as you passed your interview.

pls where's your office so that I can apply

We should all pray to God to pick our calls. Grades do not matter if your call connects. Those of us who are out of school with grades less than 2.1, all is not over and those who are still in school, this is your opportunity because most jobs this days advertise jobs mostly for 2.1 graduates and you will definitely miss it, even if you are better than first class graduates you will not have the opportunity to prove yourself. I worked very hard when I was in the university, I maintained first class from my first year till third year but my fourth year first semester result dashed my hope and I have to settle for 2.1 with 4.36 cgpa. Beyond working hard, there are still some other factors. May God see us through. I rep ABU Zaria.

Where are the jobs? Even most the 2.1 and 1st graduate are yet to get a job. If you have someone that will help you leave the country for greener pasture or setup a business by getting loans from family.

How many 2:1 graduates do you know in Nigeria? . Can you please stop making unnecessary stereotype of 2:1 graduates. The fact is, its not easy though I will never underate our 2:2 graduates.
School varies across Nigeria, so dont use your own School experience to judge others.. May God pick our calls all(favour market by Gods grace).

For the records, I graduated from UNN. People don't buy the certificate but they buy individual grades so that they land in 2.1. That's what I mean. I didn't have 2.2 incase ooooo.

Even people with 2.1 are in the same shoes, they're just as jobless as those with 2.2, it's not a class or grade thing!
