I think Deulofeu uwas played out of position against
Madrid. He plays that RW well. When I suggested a certain Sergi Roberto as starting midfielder, somebody said my head wasn't correct.

Mascherano doing the Lord's work. I doubt if pique would've recovered that ball, given his pathetic pace. I also think busquets should move forward more and allow Rakitic hold....passes will flow forward more that way.

These goals merely paper over the cracks, though. We still have a big problem in the midfield. Roberto's a bright chap but he lacks the Xavi-factor, nor can he dictate the ebb and flow of game in the way Iniesta does. And I don't think Messi would be as successful functioning as a false 9 now as he was during Villanova's regime. The workload would be too much for him, seeing as he'd now have to drop deeper than ever before in order to get things working in the midfield. Plus who's to deliver those penetrating through-balls to Messi (and Suarez)? Is it Rakitic? Or Busquet?
