Impressed with Awoniyi today, lots of endeavor, still has a lot to work on though but his team might survive this time. 1 Like |

Joel Obi`s Torino currently playing a 1-1 draw,he assisted his team`s goal and was substituted in the 76th minute. He has been involved in his teams goal either scoring jimself or assistng others for the past 5 matches including pre season. That stat reeks of consistency,do you guy think he should be in the cameroon team given his long absence from the SE setup with him also just returning to full fitness? |

mumemma: I would excuse him with the current squad but he must surely be invited in subsequent fixtures. Joel Obi is a natural attacking midfielder and you don't have a better player. 1 Like |

AIG07:Simon and Osimhen can sit this one out. Only reason Musa will retain his spot is because KC is injured and we can't throw in a bunch of frail newbies to tackle Cameroon, however, I fully expect him to be a fringe player come November this year Dunno how possible a call up to Cyril will be before our games against Cameroon, however, we should get him on before we play Zambia. Tammy may only come after we've got the qualification |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by OMANBALA1: 10:14pm On Aug 20, 2017 |
Its apparent that the purported golden generation has almost failed to live up to their expectations. Iheanacho who is the the most promising is almost lost in the mix,Awoniyi is playing in what is barely a tier higher than NPFL,Isaac Success is languishing on the bench ,Nwakali is no where near his the pitch etc. Something is fundamentally wrong with our football development....Iheanacho is still struggling with his first touch which is grim. Our boys don't get the basics. 2 Likes |

mumemma:a half fit Mikel will walk on that pitch against Cameroon before anyone else If we want to use fitness level to judge other players, there are exceptions. If Mikel can play, even if for sixty minutes, he will do more damage than many others for the whole ninety 2 Likes |

OMANBALA1:biko, Iheanacho is injured for now and I don't see how he is lost in anything. The golden generation is yet to even feature in one World Cup and they will have at least three in their careers, you no go like calm down? And you forget the likes of Ndidi, Iwobi and co....by 'generation' we are not restricting it to Manu Garba's boys, but everyone in that age range....so even Awaziem, Cyril, Troost and co follow join. We can only assess them after the World Cup next year which is when we should be getting a true picture of our team, or if they fail to qualify this year 6 Likes |

OMANBALA1: I blame it on our league..Its still far from developed.. If you take a look at the youth football system of some countries like England, Spain,Germany and France, you will see that their league helped them a lot.. Most of of those players from their youth team weren't discovered on the street of picked from local football academy.. they were picked from top club academy. And even after showcasing their talents at the international scene, most of them remain with their club, where they continue their progress.. But with Nigeria, the reserve is the case... our youth players don't wanna play in Nigeria so far they get offers from foreign clubs even if its in Lebanon. The style of play, plus other factors in those country would take its toll on them in the end.. 3 Likes |
