Mickael2:

do I need to call the names of the AMF for those teams? of you think Mikel can cut it as an AMF, regular AMF in those teams then that is solely based on sentiments

Yes, Mikel would if he was given the opportunity. If Andre Gomes can play for Barcelona, why not Mikel. Mikel never lacked the talent. He just did not have the opportunity.

I guess you feel being the best and most expensive player in the World is not prominent. SMH.

I see folks talk about power vs skill. Hmmmm. I think we need a blend of both and here is how I look at it.
The three main aspects of a team is attack, midfield and the defence. In the attack department, we need both power and skill. We dont want players who get marked out or bullied relying only on skill. It also depends on the formation we are playing. A 4-2-3-1 will mean we have a bull with brains as 9 and foxes as the 3 players behind the lone striker. A 4-4-2 will imply having both a bull and a fox as strikers while we have speedsters with quality delivery on the wings. (Not ahmed musa kind of delivery please!)

In the midfield, we need a super midfielder to run things. one that is skilled in the art of threading killer passes and has absolute concentration at all times paired with an equally gifted but physical holding midfielder. The central defender is definitely power and not skill as they can be muscled off the ball easily if we play skill. It can be costly playing skill in the defence. Power too in the defence can be dangerous but at least all aerial balls are gonna be taken care of.the wing backs need to be a blend of both power and skill to make quality decisions when under pressure.

Therefore in view of up coming match, we shouldnt be too afraid of cameroon. More importantly, we should play our game and blend together as a team regardless of whatever formation is being employed. The objectives of the coaching crew need to have been met in training and executed to perfection on match day. End of story! Question is what is our game plan?

The official list would be unveiled this week even with that of the Cameroonians.
Rohr has confirmed that Mikel,Moses and Balogun would play a part in the crucial double headed clash.

In the goal keeping department expect the addition of Ex- golden eaglets and plateau united shot stopper,Dele Ajiboye.

Hapoel beer sheva hitman,Nwakaeme could also make the list.

Thank you. We need loose sleep over any team. A healthy dose of confidence is necessary.

I don't care about past SE.

However my eyes will be on Mikel especially against Cameroon, as regards orchestration.

Icon4s:

It was sleek play and swift passes that we used to overcome Zambia in Ndola. Go watch some of the highlights again.

Go also watch Nigeria Vs Cameroon at the 2004 AFCON quarter final.

Go watch also Nigeria Vs Ivory Coast at the 2013 AFCON quarter finals.

As long as Mikel is in that AM position. I call him the orchestrator. He knows what to do with the ball and the attackers know how to play with him.

The Cameroon game would not be easy. But I am not loosing sleep over it.

Economic lol. Your point is still valid though.
goldfish80:

The skillful players you listed there are just 3 in the persons of Victor Moses, Iwobi and Moses Simon out of a possible 24-26 players.
Kelechi is not skillful anymore. They have coached it out of him at Man City. Mikel is Mikel, he's an economic player.

You mean right wing back? Don't think Rohr would play a 3-4-3/3-5-2. Not a good idea to play him as a FB imo

Etebo has hardly ever played as the CM or CAM for his club, he is not a natural passer if the ball at all. Etebo is the kind of LWF that runs the whole ninety minutes and you are sure he can score too. we play a 4-2-3-1, we do not have a front three, just a lone striker up top with five midfielders
Oh I see. This is when versatility becomes somewhat of a curse. Then the best thing is to move him to the left and play Iwobi as a 10. Mikel should drop back to CM.

When ever you make such comment as "City has coached the skills out of Iheanacho" I just laugh.

Let him go and play with the U17s now and we'll know if City has coached the skills our of him or not.

Some of you guys fail to realize that playing at senior level is a lot more demanding than playing at U17 or U20 levels.

You expect Iheanacho to still dominate defences just the way he did at U17?
Of course I still expect to see him retain the vital part of his game which made him become the best U17 player in the world. If at the senior level he is struggling to get past people, it tells me something have been coached out him. I know in most academies in Europe they dont encourage players dribbling past people, they prefer playing one touch with a team mate.If a naturally skillful player is working in such environment, the result will be that he looses the confidence to do what comes to him naturally.

This what I mean by skills being coached out of a player. Simply put, when a player is not encouraged to express himself, at the long run, he basically plays like a machine, which is what English football is all about.

That is what I am talking about. We have the caliber of players to COPE with the physicality. We don't need to go call back Danny Shittu, Taribo West, Dan the Bull Amokachi , Michael Eneramo and Yakubull Ayegbeni to pull off this one.

The players we have can cope.

The coaches just need to get the tactics right. We have players with big game experience in that team we only hope they turn up for the party.

His total average for dribbles completed stands at 0.4, Strikingly, he only completed 0.3 dribbles last season.... That is statistically he doesn't complete one dribble per game. If you have some numbers I am not aware of please you have the stage to present those let us verify.
But knowing you as the court jester of the thread, I expect you to come out with a hilarious statement to back up your phantom claims.

He has changed his style because unlike the U17, he played a deeper role and required to use the ball a lot. At City he played a forward role and relied more on off-the-ball play. So he does not make much moves with the ball. Thus, the low completed dribbles. That does not mean he can not dribble or his skills disappeared.

As I repeat, whoscored stats know more than you. You can copy and paste from today till tomorrow, They clearly stated Iheanacho's dribbling is strong.

Finito.

The same stats I culled from whoscored shows he completes just 0.3 of his dribbles. If he dribbles inside his bedroom, na you sabi. But from what his stats say from whoscored, he's as average as they come in terms of dribbles.

Is it not in one of the recent friendlies that people hailed Iheanacho for some of the skills he exhibited?

You cant even back up your argument with proper data. I have always said skills have been coached out kelechi at Man city having watched him closely for 2 years. Icon4s can recall when I said this a long time ago.
This afternoon when I looked at his stats, it confirmed my thoughts. Kelechi as a matter of FACT is one of the worst dribblers in the present Super Eagles team. I can say this before any oracle, I have the evidence.

Those stats do not paint the true picture. There are different scenarios that can make the stat look different.

Your coached the skills out of him is not true because I just pointed at one of the friendlies where Nacho showed nice skills. You will not look at that because watching is difficult for you. Just to look at numbers and rant. I also pointed out the way he skinned the Zambian keeper with confidence and composure.

Numbers can not show you that. So keep arguing. Dribbling - Strong.

Lol..he only shows those skills in friendlies?Till he starts showing those skills in competitive games, I wont take you serious.

What was so special about the Zambian goal again? Any average joe will go past an unrushing keeper. Every man and his dog knows that kelechi is deficient in the skills department these days. His stats for 3 seasons in professional football stands at 0.3 on the average. chew on it
