bartho77: If FBN calls for documentation and your original WAEC is not available for presentation then you can be sure FBN would not have time to entertain any stories, so if I were you I wouldn't submit my WAEC original through your sec. school. Birth certificates and declarations of age are mere formalities when assessing a candidates age, because anyone can forge it and use whatever age the want. To the best of my knowledge, WAEC is the number one document banks use to assess your age. If I were you this wouldn't have been an issue to me ever since, since the age difference is just two months, I would have just gotten a declaration of age stating the WAEC date of birth and be using it all through my job applications, the stress of getting WAEC to rectify a mistake on DOB has never been easy from the cases I have seen and heard of. And when firms are recruiting, they always watch out for "stories that touch" concerning WAEC to discard candidates with such issues, in most cases, more than 90% of people with claims of WAEC making mistakes on their DOB are usually just lying in order to reduce their real ages. I don't think its wise to take the risk of giving away your WAEC original and presenting a letter from WAEC to FBN concerning the issue, what stops anyone who wants to lie about their age from doing such as well? If firms honour such then everyone can get a letter from WAEC and submit during documentation stating how their DOB is different and all. I'm no authority here but looking at your options, I think the best thing for you to do is go get a declaration of age that rhymes with your WAEC DOB, then during documentation, pray they don't refer to your CV which you submitted during your application stage which I'm sure has your actual DOB, if they don't refer to that CV's DOB then you are cool, but if they do; then still pray and explain to them that it was a typographical error or editing error when you were typing your DOB details on your CV or website for application. Make sure that henceforth you edit your DOB on your CV to rhyme with that on your WAEC. Submitting your WAEC original and waiting for 1 year when you are not even assured of a positive outcome is not worth it, having your professional DOB of just 2 months difference which you would be using is not bad. After all some people just picked their own DOB's because their parents couldn't remember the actual date. Its not a crime to say you have misplaced your birth certificate or if you don't have any as the case may be, and that's why declaration of age is valid as well. So using a declaration of age and a WAEC certificate is enough for verification of your age. If you like submit the most authentic birth certificate that was signed by Dr Ben Carson himself or declaration of age gotten 20 years ago signed by the Attorney General of the federation himself, as long as you don't have a WAEC to back up the ages on either the declaration of age or birth certificate then as they say: "you are on a long thing!" Banks for one don't play with age at all! So don't play around with banks when it comes to your WAEC DOB. I remember back then when we went for an open aptitude test for 2:2 and above candidates for a contract position at Access bank, the only document they wanted to see for the first stage was WAEC, not even Degree or NYSC certificate just yet. I almost asked myself if it was an office messenger position I was applying for 8 Likes 3 Shares |

bartho77:Okay, it's better you hold on till after documentation then, but try to do it afterwards,it shouldn't take more than 6-7 months, you may someday have a need to go study or work abroad, white man no go hear say, WAEC made mistake o, but for those with similar issue but no AC in sight now, it's better they take the risk and go for it. |
Re: 2016 Firstbank Graduate Trainee Programme by dachaste(f): 5:56pm On Aug 18, 2017 |
bartho77: Simply go to any Heath care center, and get a new birth cert. Go with the old one, so they input All the details But correct the date to coincide with that on ur waec cert. I tink BirtH cert is better than declaration of age, It will cost u less than 5k. In Kano here a friend did it for 3k or so. Infact if the guys in the office are not too lazy, u'll just sit and wait while everything is done and u collect and go. Stress free. 1 Like |

Jeez!!! Can u guys remember we uploaded our birth cert, waec cert, nysc and all that while applying? I wonder if they'll refer to those documents later on. @ bartho77 I really don't know if my advice earlier was a good one. Considering the fact that if u get a sworn affidavit oR a new birth cert, it won't tally with the info u uploaded earlier when applying. Maybe cloud9usher should Help ask if the documents we once uploaded Have been trashed or will Still be used. So u know what best to do. 1 Like |

dachaste: You are very correct, we uploaded our documents, I totally forgot about that and only thought about the CV's we uploaded on Dragnet's website. That's said, documents submitted during recruitment processes are RARELY discarded, but like I said concerning if the CV he submitted would be referred to during documentation, the documents we submitted MIGHT not be cross-checked over those we would be submitting during documentation, he best bet is having a WAEC certificate and a declaration age handy to present during documentation which shows he was not more than 27 years as at December 2016 as stated for the recruitment requirement. Since he submitted a birth certificate during application, I think there is no need going to get another birth certificate so as not to complicate things with two different birth certificates, that's why my suggestion of getting a declaration of age is still his best bet, the major thing that assessors during documentation would be looking out for towards assessing a candidates' age is your WAEC, the other age related documents are mere formalities; anyone can fake them anytime. So I would repeat that he doesn't return his WAEC original to his sec. school to be returned to WAEC, going for documentation with a letter of explanation from WAEC concerning DOB issues would not be honoured, if they honour such then everyone 35 year old can come for documentation with such a letter from WAEC explaining that there was a mistake and his real age is 25 years. Make sure you go to documentation with that WAEC original, pray and hope for the best. |

For those dat cares to listen, get urself busy with something, most of this big organization use years to conclude recruitment. beside you can't stay and be wasting ur time, all becos of first bank, add something to ur CV. in fact banking sector is not de best place to work now self. people get dropped on a daily basis for offense you never committed..... I have seen a lot in the little time, I have spent in one of the new generation bank. all the best my people. 2 Likes |

bartho77: Exactly what I am facing too and that was the exact response I got aswell. But I tell you bro, I am going with Cloud9usher's advice - getting to the documentation stage with my original WAEC cos we uploaded all documents during recruitment and getting a new declaration of age would be more contradictory. Yours is even better. Mine is a six months gap in age, while a letter of my name was wrongly spelt (J was put instead of Y). I go come kill myself? Que sera sera. 1 Like |

Adedayobusayo12: I don't think you have much of an issue, both ages on both WAEC qualify you for the age range for this particular recruitment and combination of results not more than 2 sittings is acceptable. Just submit both WAEC certificates during documentation. |

Aiteeywhyte:If I were you,I would start now,get a lot of GMAT and shl materials and begin to study them day and night for next years recruitment in the big fours, like PWC,ey,kpmg etc, this years recruitment in most big agencies are concluded or almost concluded,u could start now and start preparing for next years own as you find any little job doing,I wish I had someone give me this advice when I graduated too,I graduated early too but didn't know about these firms and how they operate,by the time I knew about them and started writing their exams,it was failure all the way, till I spent a concrete year reading and practising like crazy, didn't sleep till 2 am daily,I was that desperate, since then,to God be the glory,I haven't failed any exam ,but then age is no longer on my side,so dear, make hay while the sun shines 7 Likes |

Like i stated before, look out for other opportunities(if u already have one, just manage and look out for a better one) u can't be waiting for 1st bank, especially those(including me) that haven't even been invited to the 'AC'. Honestly, it's really tiring, but hey, one can't give up. Have to always hope for the best, & be open to other things. God's blessings always. 4 Likes |
