President Muhammadu Buhari, who resumed duties Monday after a 103-day medical vacation abroad, will operate from his official residence until the completion of the renovation of his office, the Presidency said Monday.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Shehu Garba, told THISDAY that the president’s office needed renovation because of its devastation by rodents during the president’s long period of absence.

“Following the three months period of disuse, rodents have caused a lot of damage to the furniture and the air conditioning units,” he said, explaining that it was impossible for his boss to operate from the office in that condition.

Garba, however, said this would not affect the effectiveness of Buhari’s work since the residence has an annex to the office, adding that the president had been carrying out his duties from home since he resumed.

Saying he could not tell when the renovation would be completed, the presidential spokesperson stated that the maintenance company that was seen at work Monday at the Presidential Villa by THISDAY had been asked to speed up its pace of work.

The president had Monday morning met with Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and other senior aides, including the Chief of Staff, Mr. Abba Kyari, at his official residence, where he signed a letter informing the National Assembly that he had resumed duties.

The president’s decision to work from home got a nod from the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie Oyegun, who said it was in order, explaining that what was important was that the president would do his job.

“What is important is that the job gets done. Whether he does it from his bedroom, or his sitting room, or his ante room, it does not matter. Let the job be done. And the job will be done,” he told ARISE TV, a THISDAY Newspaper sister broadcast network, Monday.

Lies from pit of hell!
What happened to the paid cleaners and office staffs?
They all went to U.K. Too?

I voted only Buhari but my love for him will not make me to see lies and call it truth and truth a lie. What is wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it and what is right is right even if there's no one doing it.

My love for Buhari as a president of Nigeria has vaporized. I have no hope in his administration. I'm not a lover of Nigerian politics and politicians because what we see in Europe and America we don't see it here.

Governance in Nigeria is about stealing, looting, contracts to steal and not complete the job, becoming powerful in the society thereby using official armed security to your own advantage, infact the list is endless.

The nation wasn't as bad as it is now when Sunny Okosun of blessed memory sang "which way Nigeria"
Today we still don't know yet.
It is finished!
The last man we thought is free from corruption is not healthy to lead. Chai!

Let us accept that rodents ravaged the most important office in our country, it is ridiculous but let us agree it is true. There are two meanings one can associate with the supposed rodent infestation: One, if it is true it shows the level of irresponsible disregard and destruction inherent in our system. It shows we neither appreciate nor care for what we have; it shows that we are parasites who feed only to abandon the host to rot once it is drained. This symbolism should be lost on no one; the office was abandoned because there was nothing to gain from it at least while Buhari was away. For the president's office to become home of rodents makes you wonder the state of Aso Rock. If the president's office could be over ran by rodents it suggests Aso Rock is generally rodent infested. Two, it could be a spin to justify the president working from home. If this is the case, then, it is shows the extent of deceit and aggrandizement some people will use to strengthen their grip on power. Either way, this rodent excuse is a shame. Let us not condone ignominy because of sentiment.

4.
Who gave the rodents AK47? The military must move into that office to fight the rodents for trespassing into Nigeria President's office. I think all civil servants who encounter rodents in their offices can as well work from home. Change begins with that!!!
