This is a very big lie. The new millenial kids are way smarter and very intelligent. I have met lots of extraordinary Nigerians between the ages if 18 to 25. Extraordinary people doing extraordinary things.

And yet these same "extraordinary people" cannot make the jamb cut off mark of about 200 before abi?... ..

To my own view, JAMB reduced the cut off mark as a result of the stupid policy called federal character/quota system in other to satisfy a particular segment of our country called Nigeria. Judging by the number of the people that score 200 and above according to jamb and using geographical location, you will agree with me that the major reason(s) is to satisfy the interest of the so called Educational less develop areas.

The strategy has pointed by op is to bring more revenue but don't forget that scoring 120,180 or 200 in jamb wouldn't guarantee admission.

CLARIFICATION ON THE NATIONAL CUT OFF MARKS FIXED BY JAMB

It's necessary for us to make clarification on the toppling issues of the national cut off points fixed by JAMB, Prof Oloyede said that the minimum cut off mark and that Universities are at liberty to fix their own cut off point

Taking for instance, University like UNILORIN can decide to use its usual 180, UNILAG will always use its usual 200, OAU and UI will not fail to make use of 200 as their minimum cut off points too.

The minimum cut off mark to be used by UNILORIN as said in the just concluded Jamb Admission Policy meeting is 180, though the varsity will still fix its departmental cut off points which may ranges between 180-240

What jamb implied is that schools can increase their cut off mark to as high as 200.those complaining of the cut off mark should have it mind that if Jamb increase it to 300, many of you will wail so it was the best decision they took. Op you didn't state were jamb said candidates of post utme can now change choice of university up till January 2018.
. I go with yur submit, d purpose is to generate more revenue fir government...

I believe that the so called Educational less developed area does not rely on post Ume for an admission, they have their own yard stick in favouring there people.
I am in support with OP in its rational, this is a setup to milk from the admission seekers.

But will Bayero university or Usman Dan fodio university use 180 as cut off mark? I don't think so, I find it hard to believe that in trying to be politically correct, people are not seeing the glaring motive behind this sudden lowering of the bar, and the consequent implications!
Jamb didn't say schools can't increase their cut off mark, they can increase it but it shouldn't be too high. The rationale behind this I suppose is to generate revenue for some public schools and for some private schools to have more students. Also students can now write more than one post utme till January 2018

But come to think of it.
In times like this when everyone is looking for a means to make more money, I think the JAMB board knew that this decision would cause an uproar so they decided to give the universities an option.
But still... how many institutions would see the chance of making more money legitimately and reject it.
I feel this was just a con.
May God help us.

Left to me the Nigerians born between 1940 and 1980 failed Nigeria big time. They are the reason we are in this mess today and yet they still have the effortery to blame the youths. The older generation ruined Nigeria. Every Nigerian above 35 is responsible for the failure that Nigeria is today

So what are the under 35s doing? Charly Boy at 66 years had to initiate a chain of protests before your President saw it fit to come back to fix his ailing country.

Na over sabi & I too know dey kill una for southern Nigeria. Una claim say una know book & sophisticated pass aboki's them for north yet na them dey rule & formulate policies when dey control the so called book people. Benin of Edo adage says book sense & God sense no dey same level. No be this same country for years northerners go score 40/400 & him go get admission on top say na beg them go even beg am make him go the university.

Nigeria be like casino / nairabet machine. 30million buy forms & you admit 500,000. What happened to others and their fund? Same in all sectors. Think

I agree with the OP.

Its the schools that will benefit. They will sell more forms knowing fully well that majority wont get in. With their formular for total points that considers Jamb score, Waec and the post UME exam, its almost impossible for someone with 200 how much more 120.

They even go as far as selling change of course forms when they know they wont consider anyone that buys it.
Yo bro, u got my point
