Pls tell us players in eagles living on past glory, tell us why Onazi should be dropped and who are d fast rising players?then we can discuss.

Onazi is definitely living in past glory. Musa and Moses Simon too, Moses Simon's own is even worse because I really don't even know which past glory he is living in, the coach just like a him. I just named three players that I think are living on past glory, now lemme name three players that can easily replace them; Kayode, Onyekuru, Dressier,Onuachu, we have forgotten Fanendo Adi let me not go on.

you want to know why Onazi needs to be dropped? easy, because we have better players in that position, let me not even get into the technical aspects. I however agree that he is a vital utility player, but a starter? No no

I think it's time people stop berating the Turkish league. Something is brewing there. Just last week Samir Nasri transfered to Antalyaspor. Compasrims between Turkey/Championship is way off the mark following the transfer market trend.
Wish Alex all the best in his decision. That's all I can say.

Alex Iwobi could make shock loan move: Galatsaray in talks with Arsenal over deal - report

Iwobi broke onto the first-team scene at the Emirates last season.
But a surprise exit to Turkey could be on the cards.
Galatasaray after in talks over a loan swoop for the Nigeria international, Takvim .
The report claims the Istanbul club's sporting director Cenk Ergun has opened talks with Gunners top brass about a deal.
Iwobi is under contract with the north London club until 2020.
He made 38 appearances last season, but with many of those run-outs coming off the bench, his development may be boosted by a season of starting week-in, week-out in Turkey.

Thumb up for this but not see Samson Siasia on d list of 1990-1999 call for little debates coz Siasia still remained d best partnership of Yekini, though Amokachie came into d scene and when Siasia was made a scape goat for our lost against cote d voire but nonetheless I w pick Siasia over Amokachie anytime any day.

Pls go and watch Nigeria vs South Africa and see d great combo of Yekini and Siasia, also Senegal 92 and Nigeria qualifying matches to Seoul 88.Their striking partner still remained best and till today we haven't got one except few glimpses of KANU and Agali in 2001 world cup qualifying and afcon.

Samson Siasia deserves to be in your squad, despite d knock he received against cote d voire for not giving Yekini a pass,Westerhoff still find it difficult to bench him at US 94,pls check his goal against Argentina,d goal remained one of d most intelligent goal score in d history of world cup.

I always rate Siasia along KANU when it comes to intelligence, and this was d reason he remained most shinning light of 1985 under 20 squad he rose to become integral part of late 80s and 90s super eagles, ask Monday Odiaka and he w tell u most strikers prefers Siasia behind them coz he does it well.

Sorry jobie for mix up,this is for icon4s .

Cc:icon4s

Monday Odiaka was initially the most shinning star from the fantastic 1985 U20 team that finished 3rd at the WYC. In fact Monday Odiaka won the golden boot in that tournament. From the crop only Andrew Uweh and Ndubuisi Okosieme made the Maroc 88 AFCON squad. But Siasia later managed to transit into the Super Eagles. In fact his first AFCON was Senegal '92 Daniel Amokachi was exempted due to injury I think. Amokachi first featured at Algiers 90.

Samuel Okwaraji was the SS to Yekini in that '88 AFCON. Amokachi took over from Okwaraji.

Amokachi was Nigeria's first choice Supporting striker to Yekini.

That Nigeria Vs Argentina game you made reference to see the way Westerhoff lined up his team:

.......................Rufai

Eguaveon..Nwanu..Okechukwu..Emenalo

..........................Oliseh

..........................Siasia

Finidi.................................... Amuneke

............Amokachi
............................Yekini.

Samson Siasia played Central Midfield (surprised?) while Amokachi retained his SS spot.

I remember vividly that Sissie's selfish incidence against Ivory Coast. We were losing 2-1 in Abidjan. Yekini was unmarked and on-side. Rather than for Siasia to pass to Yekini he blasted the ball wide.
Westerhorf also axed Reuben Agbola after that match.

You come to think of it that there was also "the head master" Mutiu Adepoju in that team. But he was a fringe player even with his qualities . Can ever get to that level again?

So my brother I still defend my not including Siasia in my 1990-1999 first 11.

Mikel actually went to South Africa after the U17 world cup before joining a modest Lynn Oslo. His quality while playing for Lynn Oslo alerted Man Utd before WYC 2005.
My point is that when someone is doing well, he's doing well. For me, a footballer's talent shouldn't be judged by where he plays.
Who says Adegbenro would not have done better than Iwobi against South Africa?

I think Eguavoen camped the U17 team in Manchester and they trained at Manchester United. That was where the coaches of Manchester United and Sir Alex Ferguson saw Mikel. He was to sign for Manchester United then but I think trying to spin a deal out of Mikel caused Anderson (who is an ally of Ferguson and then Mikel’s agent) negotiated and brokered the deal to Lynn Oslo, hoping to sell him back to Manchester United for profit.

It backfired and Chelsea got Mikel. I think Anderson went to jail for forging Mikel’s signature.

Oh when it comes to Onazi, honestly am not surprise at your comments coz I expect it,so nothing new(team Ndidi)

Ahmed Musa, nothing to say coz he is having it tough in his career at d moment,Simeon Moses I can't really say coz I don't rate him much but I believe he had a better game than player like Iwobi against South Africa. So if d likes of Iwobi,Awaziem,Ndidi,Nacho,Echiejele,Abdullahi,Akpeyi got invitation, then no fuss about moses Simeon invitation.

Good analysis my brother i think Monday Odiaka won bronze boot and Samson Siasia made it possible.Siasia was like golden boy of that era that comprises player like Austin Igbinbairo,Wahidi Akanni,Osaro Obabaifo,Andrew Uwe,Alloy Agu,Ndubuisi Okosieme

Amokachie did not make Algiers 90,yet to be discovered but mostly on d bench during afcon Senegal 92 qualifier, couldn't make it not coz of injury but advice by Westerhoff to cement is place at club brugge than warming bench at Senegal 92.

Siasia was d first to broke into super eagles among Moscow 85 team even not as a bench warmer but a starter,if u can remember eagles failed to qualify for afcon 86 losing to Zambia in qualify stage, this paved for Moscow 85 team but Siasia grab d opportunity and pls tell me apart from Siasia which player among 85 had it so good like Siasia in d national team.

Siasia not making maroc 88 was due to club engagements, remember Keshi played only two match at maroc both against Cameroon at group stage and final due to club engagements, this was a period African team find it difficult to have their best at Afcon.

I belive this thread is about the Super Eagles not about players who perform in better leagues. If he can do the buisness for us in a position we are handicapped who gives a hoot if he can perform in Portugal or Belgium.

You sounded so certain that he could do a better job than shehu, Ebuehi and Aina but those players are playing in much better leagues. I do not think right back is a problematic position. There are several options ahead of Osas.

We have players everywhere in Europe like they do. It's just that we place lots of emphasis if they play in the big leagues and a few others. Consider we hardly even look at the MLS at all.
Maybe we need to be a little more flexible with trying out players from other leagues or even in the second tier. However, we don't play so much games to experiment.

I'm surprised where those new keepers popped up from. And we are still scared to use the likes of Alampasu, Uzoho, and Nwokolor.

You sounded so certain that he could do a better job than shehu, Ebuehi and Aina but those players are playing in much better leagues. I do not think right back is a problematic position. There are several options ahead of Osas.

There you are once more passing judgment whilst using league ratings as a yard stick, not talent, individual ability or what the man could bring to the team.
When was the last time we had a true Right back impress for the Super Eagles? if we are being honest.
Funny enough, these guys you mentioned are playing for mediocre teams in their various leagues. I may not be having this argument if they were playing for Real Madrid or Bayern Munich.
It will be much fun if we base our posts on the individual qualities of the players and not the Nigerian stereotype of where they are based.

I think Eguavoen camped the U17 team in Manchester and they trained at Manchester United. That was where the coaches of Manchester United and Sir Alex Ferguson saw Mikel. He was to sign for Manchester United then but I think trying to spin a deal out of Mikel caused Anderson (who is an ally of Ferguson and then Mikel’s agent negotiated and brokered the deal to Lynn Oslo, hoping to sell him back to Manchester United for profit.

It backfired and Chelsea got Mikel. I think Anderson went to jail for forging Mikel’s signature.

Mikel should be thinking of publishing a biography. It will make a worthy read. There's more to that Man utd deal that even Ferguson could be tainted if the full report see the light. I believe he signed a non disclosure agreement with the powers that brokered the Man Utd deal anyway. Everything reeks of a maifa arrangement.

Kortrijk 1-1 Mouscron

Ajagun starts for Kortrijk
Awoniyi bags second consecutive assist to draw Mouscron level, after his debut goal 3 rounds ago.
And a certain Cameroonian is his teammate at Mouscron. If we should go by Cameroon's standard, Awoniyi would be in SE now.. lol

Fabrice Olingo didn't even start. However, Awoniyi has been a starter of late.. I think we Nigerians right off ourselves easily/prematurely.
