Jake no scaremongering here. Am saying with the full spectrum of Air assets some of which are yet to be delivered the NAF can be of contest in any air space in the region. By integration you synthesize combat roles & sorties, information sharing & analysis etc. About early warning, in today's warfare you might just be blind as radar might be your life or death. Modern Air Forces invest a lot in Air Intel assets for advantage and in that we excel far above those countries you mentioned. How do ELINT compliant aircrafts transmit co-ordinates? The Tucanos come in under cover from air-superiority jets or better still when you have gained air space control. Stand off is an option. Pls stop mentioning Morocco and Tunisia. Warfare is not only MiGs, Sukhoi's and F-16s. You won't even see some of those birds take off when we invade. Just ask the Ukraine Air Force against Russian backed rebels. Saudi Arabia and it's allies are still bombing Yemen with 4th generation jets and advanced helicopters yet the Houthi's are still holding Sanaa the capital and making mince meat of the Saudis. The Army didn't go AWOL. Artillery and Armoured forces are game changers. The infantry is still the queen of the battle. In the end who captures, secures and holds ground wins.
You type intelligently but most times you make the most stupid and retarde.d points. You type stupid stuff with a lot of vehemence. maybe it's ignorance or just good ol sheer stupidity in abundance.

A bunch of prop airplanes that can talk and bark in the skies and you feel NAF has been upgraded to USAF status?
listen Captain Nigeria, don't go fooling around in your tucanos with the Moroccans or Algerians because those shiny tucanos would be blown all over the Sahara.

IGIRIGI is an army local workshop fabrication on an average chassis and engine. ARA is a factory built product on a chassis and engine made by a Czech company with track record of excellent product performance since 1923. Your comparison is not correct, sorry to say.
I have not compared the Igirigi with the ARA. what I have compared is the hoopla that heralded the announcement of each vehicle. what I caution against is the rating of a vehicle that has not been tested in a hostile environment. Even the manufacturers say they are yet to complete testing. So we should wait before we start rating it or pronouncing it the best anything.

I kinda disagree here. There is nothing wrong with rating the Ara highly. A positive outlook will eventually lead to a positive result.

The Ara is a new vehicle which is still undergoing testing and modifications, it will surely get better as time progresses. Take a look at the PF2, when it was first launched, the South-Africans laughed at the tires. However today, we have now seen a vehicle that is mature and has achieved measure of commercial success both in Nigeria and exports. So, what's to say we won't see the same thing with the Ara.

Let us remember why we have to celebrate, we are celebrating because before 2013 none of all these existed.

Well another validation of Covert. Someone said and we know who that nothing would be classified in the sale. Am sure we all see that military secret is protected in this sale just as I said. Save the best for last. Thanks Jake.
It is also going to have 7 FLIR or WESCAM sensor pods

Henry talked about changes and I really have to agree with him.
Life moves on remorselessly.
The Igirigi, the ARA, the Gulma, these allcame from painful lessons of the bad years of BokoHaram 2013-2014.
Henry the JF-17s are coming the delay is not on the Nigerian side.
These are two completely seperate deals. That pepeye go see muritala before 18 nack.

No, by region I'm talking of Africa. Depending on which country in sub-Saharan Africa and not just west Africa the Tucano may suffice as some of these countries pose no credible threat. Some have planes but have no Air Force. Nigeria has other assets other than the JF-17 thunders to meet some of the threats that currently exist. The JF-17 thunder will be an over-kill for some of these countries.

*North Africa = Rafale + F16 + Sukhoi Su-30 + MiG 29

*Southern Africa = Gripen C/D + Sukhoi Su-30

*East Africa = Sukhoi Su-30

*Central Africa = MiG 29

Stop hallucinating.

You Kinda Made my point, you said the Southies ridiculed the PF2 prematurely and had to eat thier words. It goes to say that u should generally not start rating (positive or negative) before you have actual stats. The very existence of the ARA is worthy of celebration. its good for the country that were are beginning to produce tech with export potential. a successful ARA could save a lot of hard earned forex and frees us from
many meddlesome interlopers.

But note that if everyone sat back and had nothing but praise and outstanding ratings for the PF vehicle, it will never have matured. Maturity comes from critical analysis of facts not praise singing. a positive outlook is quite different form some of the conclusions i have seen on this thread since the ARA was revealed.

I am all for the ARA and I celebrate it, cos we have come a long way compared to where we were a few years ago. but before I say its the "best anything" i want it to be proven to be so..........so when i beat my chest everybody stands down.

I know the ARA will succeed today or tomorrow. lets just not jump the gun and make factual statements without any facts to go on.

The existence of ARA is worthy of celebration, and everyone has the right to celebrate the ARA in the manner they see fit. So if any individual decides to say the ARA would be one of the best MRAPs in the world, perhaps we need to sit back and say, he probably is seeing the vehicle from an angle different from others. I see nothing wrong with that.

The company's reply to me is quite clear, the programme continues to undergo testing and modifications. We are not all praise singing the vehicle, neither is the manufacturer, but we sure are in a celebratory mode. I mean, considering were we are coming from.

The majority of the individuals who have commented have expressed a positive outlook. I believe it is going to be one of the best MRAPs available in the market. I am this optimistic. cheesy cheesy

Every weapon systen built by man can be destroyed. The determination as to how the A-29 would fare against AA guns will be based on the SOP developed and executed by the Air Force.

NAF ROTATES FRONTLINE TROOPS IN NORTH EAST, AIRLIFTS 38,000KG OF RELIEF MATERIALS TO SIERRA LEONE

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has rotated some of its frontline troops in the ongoing counterterrorism operations in Northeast Nigeria. The NAF personnel rotated in the exercise included those who had completed their mandatory tour of duty in line with international best practices in military operations. The exercise involved the airlift of troops from the frontline to their home bases while new troops were deployed to take over their duties in the operational area. With the rotation, affected NAF personnel, who had left their families for a while, had the opportunity of reuniting with them after a meritorious service in the conflict area. The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, commended the troops who were rotated and expressed the nation’s gratitude for their sacrifices. The CAS also expressed appreciation to the relatives of the returning NAF personnel for enduring the long absence of their loved ones. In addition, Air Marshal Abubakar urged the newly deployed troops to be courageous, determined and committed while contributing their quota to the efforts at putting a complete stop to the menace of the Boko Haram terrorists.

Meanwhile, the NAF has completed the airlift of 38,000kg of relief materials to Freetown, Sierra Leone, following the recent mudslide and flood, which led to the loss of several lives and properties. The relief materials were donated by the Federal Government of Nigeria towards alleviating the suffering of the people affected by mudslide and flood in Sierra Leone. The airlift, which was conducted in 5 sorties with NAF C-130 Hercules aircraft, is in partial fulfilment of the statutory responsibility of the NAF.

I claimed an order would be made for OPV's or SANDF in general? The one item which I was punting was the ground based Umkhonto. Denel and DOD were pretty much married on it (unofficially) especially after the qualification test. But qualification doesn't mean a final product, so Denel is waiting on DOD to provide further risk assessment funds. As I know it, an estimated number of units had been agreed discussed, but DOD stalling.

So picture bleak/on hold as DOD has pretty much run out of new money in the past 12 months.

Thank you. I think you need to comprehend the post first then come back and retype some sense. Nothing is ignorant, stupid and or retarded in my comments. I chose my words carefully. Every word has a meaning. The NAF is not the USAF. But the USAF is now adopting the approach of the NAF to counter low-level threats. The only draw back of the Tucanos is it's slow speed otherwise is as advanced as any 4th generation fighter in the USAF. Facts don't kill even it's to the detriment of Nigeria I'll say it. Nigeria is not stupid to go invading Morocco or Algeria with propeller driven aircrafts alone. So the stupidity is in your post. By the way get some self esteem. Insults don't give self confidence.
