Hello guys. I need your input on this. After completing a 1 year Master's program, is it possible to keep extending the 1 year post graduate work permit that follows to like 3 years? Is there some other means to legally convert a 1 year post graduate work permit to, say a 3years permit or even a PR? 1 Like |

Peradventure, is there anyone here who has studied and lived in both US and Canada? I need your input on this. How easy/difficult is it to change from a study permit to a post graduate work permit in Canada compared to changing a student visa to an H1b (temporary work) visa in the US. The goal is not just to study overseas but also to work for a few years before returning, say 3 years. Cc Everyone |

Hi Cupsy If you are already employed within the original 1year PGWP, then you can extend it to the 3yrs cap before it expires. You can't just convert your work permit to PR. The PR process is administered through the express entry depending on the route you choose to pursue your PR. cuspy: 1 Like |

lanrayx: Are you an international student? What degree and program are you going for? Is it for Concordia University? Actually for Graduate degrees, deadline for Winter Admission is June 15. You can check out the link below for Application deadline for each courses. However, they mentioned that late applications are welcome, but at individuals risk cos like I earlier mentioned, it's first in, first out. And depending on whether the program is competitive or not. Application deadline for Summer is October 15th Application deadline for Fall is February 15th For International students coming for Undergraduates degree, application deadline for Winter admission is today, September 1st. http://www.concordia.ca/admissions/graduate/apply/deadlines.html Cos it's not feasible for an application deadline for Winter to be October, considering that study permit processing takes time in some countries. So they put all of this into consideration and try to finish the application process at least 3 to 4 months before resumption. |

lanrayx: Thank you. I think we are mixing up things here. Please refer back to the link I shared. I would have shared the images earlier but had little time. That's the reason I asked if you were coming as an international student, Degree (Undergrad/Masters) and what your program (Course) is. For most programs (Courses) on that link, it clearly states the deadline for international students. I also believe you know the meaning of Individualized Program. It's different from the way the regular programs are run. Please check the link again, and check each course and its deadline, not Individualized Program. Also the last picture you attached for the deadline, also did not specify if it's for international students, or people living here already. I have attached a picture, for the Education Program. Deadline for that is September 15th, but it also doesn't specify if its applicable to International Students or not. I know for sure that Application deadline for Engineering Programs is exactly as I earlier mentioned. And I know that different Programs run their deadline separately too, but most of them are the same. However, if the program you put in for clearly tells you that deadline for application for Winter as an international student is September 15th, then great! The most important thing is, you applied before it. I have attached some pictures, and I believe it will be more explanatory. Thanks!

Hi Guys, There is a question that goes: Since the age of 18 or during the past five years, whichever is more recent, have you travelled to any country other than the country of your citizenship or your current country of residence I have travelled out of the country (twice) before but nothing since I was 18 nor in the last five years. The last time I travelled was 6 years ago when I was 17. Is it safe to leave my travel history section on the CIC form blank? Or I should just fill it regardless. Thank you. |

Mabs16: Hi, Can I advice you try to get a Bachelors of Science in insurance or Bachelors of business adminsitartion and a concentration in Insurance. I feel the officer sees that BBa General Managmebt is very different from Insurance which is true. So I think that's where the V.O concern is, and as you said u have been in the Insurance line and now u have an underwriting Job. You need to get or look for that Insurance degree or concentration or similar fields like actuarial science which you can link to Insurance My little advice, hope this helps Cheers |

lanrayx: I don't know maybe the duration of your Faculty's processing differs as well. It's just being about a month which I believe is still fine. So, Good advice will be to reach out to the Program advisor/Coordinator or the staff you've been in contact with in your department. |

Hello house, I greet everybody. Please I sent a mail to CIC last week Wednesday requesting for an on my application. They replied me on Tuesday, stating that: " My application is in queue for their officer's review of your response to our procedural fairness letter. We will contact you if further information is required". I am happy that my mail was responded to, and out of impulse, I was almost sending them another mail yesterday, you know, urging them politely that they should hasten up with the review of my application because will be resuming on the 5th and I have been given till on the 8th of Sept to resume classes. Then I thought about it the second time, and decided to give them some time before sending any mail again. This is my question, please does anybody have any clue how long it may take CIC to review the procedural fairness letter I wrote to them? Secondly is it possible that they have already concluded the background check and want to start reviewing the fairness letter? Thank you all. |
