I struggled to get a shot showing how close they are to the ocean...

This is the city were the Hurricane was projected to have it's landfall. Close to water doesn't explain the situation...

It is right inside the ocean. Last picture shows the ocean by the Left hand side of the tree.

School dorms are the buildings you see.

Some of them must've saved up to purchase their vehicles (right from when they were young), some might have taken car loans and some might have had the cars bought for them by their parents.

The reason why it looks easier to pass American school exams is that the professors get promoted (or get pay raises) if a majority of their students pass their classes with a C, B, or A grade.
If most of the students get Ds and Fs, that professor may be in danger of either not being promoted (to, say, head of department), or even laid off. So, it is always in the best interests of the professor to ensure that most his/her students pass the class.

Thanks for this expose. Unfortunately, the reverse is the case in Nigeria.

School population is over 10k, so this isn't up to a tenth of the cars present there.

Almost everyone has a car cos if you don't, trekking will kee you or at least a ba-ci-kul will suffice for basic moving around.

So thru loans, gifts or you even manufacture one yourself - just try to get a car.

I have verified the cost of wifi installation...

Router $6, one time rent fee
$40 monthly, promo price for first 3 months.
$25 Deposit, in case you do not return the router.

Setting up oneself here costs about $1000, + or -$300.
Initial rent, furniture, utensils, cutlery, mattress and frame etc etc.

So, even with a GA and full tuition waiver from naija you still need like $1k for accommodation and other small items before you receive your first salary.
plsss kindly add me up,need some advice from u.i sent u a PM.thanks

Kai! It has not been easy...

I don't know where to start from.
I still have updates from my experience trying to get a driver's license and most recently I attended an engineering career fair at Texas AnM College Station. 4hrs 30mins from here.

I have from pictures but due to size restrictions, I have to compress them first before uploading and that's difficult.

The career fair was to test what job hunting here feels like. See people.... lots of them all hustling for limited job and internship positions.
Please o, people that get multiple job offers at graduation, how do they do it?

Cos wetin my eyes see for the fair ehn undecided
After I talk all the thing wey I sabi, dribble them both ways, dazzle them with eveything I have got (only thing I didn't use was juju) - I still heard thanks for visiting us, 'please apply online'.
Then why did I go to the career fair?? undecided or is the online application an addition to all the saliva spent talking?

I would have simple stayed in my room and applied online.
Anyway, I am still hopeful - the heavens know I will throw atleast 500 applications online.... Shey na 'apply online na'? undecided

Hopefully, resumes I could had to recruiters will come out with positive results.

Next month is the Women in Engineering Conference... Make I go find skirt suit buy because - I will be there! cheesy

Kai, I have assignments o. Lemme see if I can resize some pictures...

Hi,
From my experience attending job fairs in the UK, you usually don't get offers on the day. It is mainly a networking and information gathering event. I found out about many companies that I had not heard of before. Interestingly I got my job with one of those companies before graduating. I didn't visit the company's stand but my wife did and she brought the brochure home. I had a look and saw a role I liked but wasn't keen on applying. Several months later, I applied and the rest is history. I will advise you do not limit your search to the big, popular companies only but also the small relatively unknown ones. Some of the small companies pay well and you could develop faster.

Thanks for the input, I learnt a lot from the fair.

I especially targeted the smaller ones willing to offer people the needed experience.

I am changing fields so I know it wouldn't be all rosy. I am following up with the leads from the fair and I am glad I attended it.

I cannot tell, it depends on several things like what your school charges, what waivers or scholarships you got or if you get an on campus job to Support you.

My school requires $27+k for 1st year Msc for my program. I am working towards reducing this to as low as I can.

For most part, when you apply online, there is a part that ask, how did you hear about us? Then you answer, the career fair.
It then takes you to another section that would need you to put in the name of the person who interviewed you at the fair.
Internally, the company's HR would contact the person to brief them about your recent interview at job fair with him.

Depending on how well you did and the feedback they get, these might inform their decision to move forward with your candidacy.

You will need to show 28k though most people don't have access to that much money when they arrive at school.

Approx. 26k estimate is for a year for everything; down to the tinniest pin you would need in school.

17+k if you are granted an in-state tuition payment eligibility.
