Ebuehi will really have to wait a bit more as he is behind Shehu, Echiejile (chaaiiii I cry), and Aina for now... Yes Ebuehi has played in a game (vs Corsica) but Aina seems more ready than him.

Ebuehi provides us with depth. He is a young quality player who plays week in week out in Holland in the Eredivisie... so his time will come. But he is down the pecking order right now...

Danielnino00:
Just as I expected, the Zambians have started bragging again. I still don't see them beating Algeria tomorrow. The best they can get us a draw..
Even still, they would be coming to Uyo with the aim of spoiling our party. Our greatest undoing against south Africa was that we underrated them..We thought they would br intimidated by the big names in our team. It wasn't just the absence of Mikel,Moses and Balogun.... I hope we don't repeat that mistake against Zambia. they are a better team than SA... but sha that's a discussion for another day. .

@Thesupernerd, do you think Ebuehi can break into the team soon? I don't think he is happy seating on the bench all the time... He should be given his chance soon (not in very crucial games though )

Exactly what I was saying. Replace Exhiejile with Aina. Choke up the midfield. I saw Aina in bench. He was the first from left before the start of the match
AIG07:
another beautiful one over there. Cameroon ain't that strong in the middle. I think I pointed this out during the confed cup. But I was so amazed they won the central midfield battle.

Switching to a 5-4-1 or 4-5-1 formation would have balance things up. But after the goal he chose 4-3-3 with tiring wide men(the two moses). It came to a time I didn't even see S.Moses on the pitch-I even taught he had been sub.

Eh wait was Aina on the bench? Cos me no see am.

Zambia is all about brawn but no brains which is the where the Eagles edge it, forget zambia, they will be dumped the way cameroon has been dumped too.

Madam what is a Nigerian if not greedy ? Sports is not for the meek, you see blood and you maul. We could have confirmed our Russia 2018 qualification tonight because I don't see Zambia winning a game in North Africa. Yes before friday's game we were hoping for 4 points and praying for at least 3 points, but after watching these 2 games against Cameroon, you will agree that the African Champions were champions by fluke.

Not withstanding based on our mediocre standards in Nigeria, the boys need to be praised for at least keeping the unbeaten record going. We most also remember that we want to be very high in the ranking in order to avoid certain countries in the draw.

It was very clear that the instruction was to park the bus and score and then counter, but in the second half our boys had run out of steam, midfield passes started becoming inaccurate, they started losing possessions and where getting to balls late, Why ??

That midfield is definitely not complete, with or without Mikel. Moses Simon abi na Simon Moses should be coming from the bench I am very sorry. Elderson Echiejile has to go, not even good enough for bench. Ndidi needs to step up more, stop deferring to Onazi and Mikel. He is the future.
Shehu, Ekong and Leon Were super solid. Victor Moses I repeat should remember his first priority na to supply the main attacker, after the first goal, he just got Ighala looking like a fool. We know he can score, even unborn babies know he can score, but as the workman horse of the team can he churn out assists on a regular basis like we need him to ? If he can do that then we will be super ok, because the tendency to always feed him the ball and him making his first choice to go for goal is causing other players to fall back and defer to him, which in turn causes a "ghost situation" in the attacking midfield like what happened today.
it is easy to sit in your chair and criticise players like you just did.

That is what anyone critiquing this team right now is doing, uoi are just a spectator and not a participant onghe battlefield, so, talk is cheap

The people who participated are currently celebrating their draw that you, in your severely limited scope, feel should have been more.

Just yesterday, France couldn't beat Luxembourg, a whole France with Mbappe and Pogba and Lacazette....since football is "you see blood and you maul" I can only wonder what went wrong with proven predators like France.

Football is not scripted, things will not go the way you think it should go

One more thing that needs to be done is scouting for top central backs who can easily fill in if any or both of the oyinbo wall is/are missing.

Okay... fine.... let's leave that one.

My point is this... Shakes and Pep no be mates in the coaching game.

Pep operates on a higher level compared to Shakes... so let Pep show that England is not the toughest league since he said so in a recent interview. Period.

TheGoodJoe:

Contrary to people's belief, we did not tear cheque book this season. We replaced players. Players like Sagna, Zabaleta, Kolarov, Clichy. Bought three full backs. Danillo, Mendy and Walker.

Replaced Caballero with Ederson. Replaced Nasri with Bernardo Silva. I Wonder how that is tearing cheque book. The market is just inflated. They are normal buys. Nothing extraordinary.

Yes Sone Aluko is a decent player, will be good either on the wings or as an SS. I remember he started with ighalo at the U-21 worldcup in egypt that haruna Lukmon made us crash out. He has apparently done well in the EFL.

And I still insist, it doesn't 'always' really matter where a player is currently plying his trade now, if you have it, you have it. I can reel out several names that came out of nothing and took the opportunity they had to showcase their talent. In the run-up to Algiers 90, somehow our big boys (Stephen Keshi, Austin Eguavoen, Siasia an other foreign based players) couldn't turn up for the Nations cup and a chance was given to a lot of unknown players who later became legends for Nigeria, amongst whom are
Ben Iroha, Uche Ukechukwu, Friday (Elastic) Elahor, Daniel Amokachi, Alloy Agu and Moses Kpakpor (if not for ogun idile). We didn't know Finidi George until he was plucked from sharks by Westerhoff, Emma Amuneke by James Peters from Julius berger, same James Petes gave Tijani Babangida a chance, John Utaka was in Qatar when he went for the South Korea/japan world cup. Bottom line forget the league where these guys are, if they show some potential, give them a chance and you might be surprised at the results.

Remember, I even said on Friday that it was not my style. We showed more invention in that game. But, in this one, we descended to an all time low.

Even in the EPL or Europe there are certain venues you play and a draw will almost look like a win.

Home advantage plays so much role in football. And this is even more pronounced in Africa.

None of this generation of Super Eagles has ever visited Yaounde for any game of any sort. The way they were able to acclimatize in less than 48 hours and achieved that result is quite commendable. TheGoodJoe be realistic abeg.

Another option is Sone Aluko. But for Azeez, we don't need him. We've seen him play. We don't need him going forward. This three will make our Midfield strong and thick going forward.
-Azubuike
-Joel Obi
-Sone Aluko.
I can imagine how our middle will look like on seeing an Aluko come on for a Mikel. The tempo will just be constant, if not even better(taking opponent's fatigue into consideration). cant wait to see how he will awe us. hate to see collapse of the same kind vs france when matuidi injured onazi.(non availability of suitable replacement)again.

he's just blowing everything out of proportion.

How can he claim we descended to an all time low, what kind of talk is that? Which useless low?

Anybody that is unhappy with this result or how the team played can go and hit his head on the wall, kilode?

I am being realistic. We were scared to play them. Finish. The solution was to park bus. Simple.

Except the bullying we suffered at the left back, we played an excellent game today.

Personally I would choke up the midfield and lunch long passes to the attack every now and then.
Ezenwa has done the necessary job. But is he our 1st choice? No. I can't even say it's Enyeama either. We will need to find the answer soon.

It's time to go for Torunarigha since the World Cup ticket is almost in the bag.

Shehu was great as RB

Vic Mo can play almost anywhere on that pitch. Why is everyone forgetting that he hit the bar... He can lunch fast attack from anywhere. His is not the kind of player that can be tamed. Why is no one seeing that he can play as AM?

My formation for the Zambia game in October will be as follows:

---------Shehu----Ekong---Balogun----Aina----

------------------------Ndidi----------------

---------V. Moses-----Mikel-----Onazi---------

--------------Iheanacho---Ighalo------------

Playing two strikers will trouble the Zambian central defense greatly, which basically means that at least, a draw is guaranteed with this formation.

Your speaking my language. Have a system to look into players that are showing potential. Then if they are good play them. If we did not give Ezenwa a chance many would not think he could rise to the occasion. They just want us recycling the team. We can never grow that way.

It's not a sin to park the bus The problem is we could have done it better. We were playing away, and we needed at least a point. We had already prooved that Cameroon was our baby in the first tie. The only thing we needed to prove is that we could beat them again in their own backyard to confirm our dominance. And it's totally fine to that parking the bus.

Before the WC qualification campaign, I can remember Coach Gernot Rohr saying we need 11 points to qualify and we are 98% there.

We all clamoured for 4 points or at least 3 points against Cameroon and we got 4 .Kudos to the team and the Coaching Crew for a job well done .

But ......

We need to point out to some lapses noticed in the team.

1.We need Enyeama back.Ezenwa is a decent goalkeeper no doubt but in the world cup no room for excuses because you come up against the best. You can refer back to USA 94 against Italy.

2.Rohr should never be in a haste to Substitute Skippo Mikel .The midfield collapses any time he is unavailable or Substituted. I suggest Joel Obi ,Ajagun and Azubuike as like for like replacement. We need someone who can hold the midfield together.

3.Onazi and Ndidi Combo is not good enough. One should be dropped .

4.Echiejele has failed to improve .We need a better replacement ASAP.He overworked Leon Balogun. He shouldn't be in our first 11.He is the weakest line in defence

5.Mikel Agu is no Mikel Obi.If he must play then he should play as a DM.

6.Victor Moses must be a team player.

7.Ezenwa is a decent GK but he is full of theatrics. No be every time dem day play o.

We sometimes say away team hardly win in the NPFL,Same can be said on the African stage.

Zambia has 2 away games. One against Algeria and Nigeria. We are all aware that North African are good at home. They will also play against Cameroon.

We are 98% in Russia 2018.

I pray that the result goes our way tomorrow.

Maybe a 1-0 for Algeria or a barren draw .

Once again kudos to the boys.

A Hausa adage says that no matter how beautiful you are ,you will still have to take of your beauty.

The S.E is not there yet that is why we need objective criticism so that we can return to our glory days when we used to be 5th in the world

We want to go to the world cup and make a significant impact .We don't want to be jokers as some African teams embarrassed us with some shambolic display.
