Did anyone notice that some refs would have blew another penalty against for one of those tackles in the 18?

I loved tiki taka in its purest form. Men watching teams go long minutes without touching the ball impressed me. I also like high intensity attacking football. Heynckes, Boas at Porto, Pellegrini at City etc.
Purest form is boring to me.I don't want no pure football, tiki taka or any brand for that matter. To football I just say:
Love your curves and all your edges
All your perfect imperfections

Which negative play? You think we are Spain or Germany?

You play against Cameroon in Yaounde and expect to dominate them for 90mins? More so when they are at the verge of crashing out of the WC qualifiers?
You think you can attack in a game like this for 90mins?

BTW go look at the starts and tell me who had more shots on goal and on target.

Nigeria was the better side overall in this particular game.

Talking about possible replacement for Mikel. K. Nwakali has not done enough IMO to merit a call-up.

Alex Iwobi IMO looks more like a player that is more ready to suit that purpose. Etebo too is available.

Talking about Mikel Agu, the way some of you hype players here sef. He was even worse in today's game than the last.

I am in agreement with you.

Nwakali on this thread is being considered on past glories but glories in youth football. He has spent a season at low rated Dutch club. If he was making waves he would be well known in the Eredivisie but he is not. Currently he doesn't merit a call up. The SE is not for boys but those who have proven themselves worthy.

It's quite obvious that we do not have a replacement for Mikel. I really would have liked to see Ogu in that midfield to see what he can do, particularly in the latter stages of today's game. His composure and calmness could possibly have calmed down matters for us opposed to the frantic play we adopted towards the end.

I actually would consider Sone Aluko for that role as a quality option.

Well but this will be Nwakali's first season in the Eredivisie. I mean he just got loaned to VVV Venlo. Do you really feel his exploit in their second tier wasn't noticed. How did u verify that?

Cameroon held Nigeria to a 1-1 draw at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Group B of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

Moses Simon gave the guests the lead in the primary half however a moment half punishment from Vincent Aboubakar implies the Super Eagles need to hold up somewhat longer before a billet in Russia can be fixed.

The West African monsters were in high spirits going to Yaoundé as mentor Gernot Rohr began with a similar XI that won 4-0 in Uyo.

It was however the Indomitable Lions that began on the front foot, putting the guests under early weight.

1-1 was the way it finished in Yaoundé as the outcome sees Nigeria hold their lead in Group B with 10 focuses while Zambia, who go to go up against Algeria on Tuesday, are second on 4 focuses.

Plssss if na by experience then Taiye Taiwo should be called up.... Besides which "experienced LB do we boast of now aside Echiejile and Taiwo"? None...

But based on other qualities and based on super potentials... I suggest Jordan Torunarigha... we should make that guy our top LB priority. Abeg!!!! NFF Abeg!!!! Rohr U hia!!!!

Until then.. Ola Aina can do a job at LB.... but Aina is our longterm RB option alongside Shehu Abdullahi... and it will be hard to displace Shehu even if Nura shows up too...

So Aina can serve as LB "gradual upgrade" for now going forward while we pursue Torunarigha to give us quality depth in that position.

Now that you have brought up the issue who is currently better Taiwo or Echiejile

Because I can't see Echiejile improving he has hit his peak and has nothing more to show.

If we had won even by one zero with parking the bus your comments here would have been like
:
Odion Ighalo continued from where he stopped, troubling the Cameroonian defence with his sweeping direct runs and his touch line dexterity made the first goal possible. Good link up play.

Ezenwa what more can I say. He has earned his place. Made crucial saves, quick recovery and bravely put himself on the line to prevent a goal.

Etc etc
But alas football being the beautiful game, beautiful for its unpredictability didn't pan out the way you expected. It was victory you wanted. Your grouse is not that they parked the bus but that they drew on the back of a 4:0 defeat of Cameroun.

You are funny. I mentioned when we won four nil that the way we played was not my style. Talk less of one nil.

I don't think Simon Moses will contribute as much, defensively, as Onazi. As someone mentioned here, the Zambians' main strength is their wing play. So, if we have the likes of Ndid (or Ogu), Onazi and Victor Moses on the pitch, they would be able to track the runs of the Zambian full-backs, and generally help out our own full-backs defensively.

That Onazi's role in your formation is just in respect of a conservative role. When you look at it from a conservative and progressive perspective, you will see he does not fit the role.

Not parking the bus cost us a spot at the last AFCON. Remember how Egypt caught our defense off guard after we kept pushing men forward? Sometimes being conservative is the right thing to do.

Mikel: One Point Against Cameroon Not Bad, We Wanted Three
By Nurudeen Obalola in Yaounde

Nigeria captain Mikel Obi has said that he is eager for the Super Eagles to seal their place at the 2018 World Cup after their 1-1 draw with Cameroon here in Yaounde on Monday night.

The draw took Nigeria’s points tally to 10 from four matches in Group B of African qualifying, six more than second-placed Zambia, who face Algeria on Tuesday.

However, the result confirmed Cameroon’s elimination from the World Cup race.

“The World Cup is a big tournament and I want to attend a second one after my first in 2014,” Mikel said at the post-match press conference.

“A second one for me will be amazing. We have a great young team, but we’re not there yet.”

The Super Eagles scored first through Moses Simon in the first half but had to hold on late on to avoid defeat after Vincent Aboubakar’ s penalty had pulled the hosts level.

“Three points would have been great, but I’m happy with the one point we got. It was a really thought game.”

Gernot Rohr urges caution as Nigeria close in on World Cup
By Colin Udoh, KweséESPN

Nigeria took another step towards the 2018 World Cup after drawing 1-1 in Yaounde against African champions Cameroon, but Gernot Rohr has urged caution until they get over the finishing line.

Moses Simon gave the Super Eagles a first-half lead when he found the net from close range in the 30th minute, and they looked to be running away with all three points until Vincent Aboubakar stepped up to beat Ikechukwu Ezenwa from the spot after the goalkeeper's error 15 minutes from time.

The point leaves the Super Eagles needing only a draw at home against Zambia to reach the World Cup, but Rohr is taking nothing for granted.

"We are happy about the result, but it's not done entirely," the German coach said in the post-match press conference.

"We must stay humble and do a big fight against Zambia, who also have a very young team.

"Let's be careful, let's work, and I hope the spirit of this team will be the same as the last two games," he continued. "If we get a good result against Zambia we can celebrate, but we have to stay humble."

Cameroon were overwhelmed in the first half as they struggled to find their way past a disciplined Nigeria side and could easily have conceded two more goals.

However, they took control following substitutions from both sides just after the hour mark, and may be disappointed not to have sealed a winner after dominating the latter stages.

"It was a different Cameroon team today," Rohr continued.

"They had three fresh players. We had the same team.

"Physically in the second half, we had problems, but we are very happy about this point because our goal was four points against Cameroon.

"Today was a game we didn't want to make spectacle," he concluded.

"We just wanted to get the point and, without the penalty, we get three points.

"We are very satisfied by the result."

Ex-Eagle Ndukwe: Complete Striker Ighalo Super Vs Cameroon In Yaounde
By Johnny Edward

Former Super Eagles striker, Raphael Chukwu Ndukwe, has singled out Odion Ighalo for praise in the Super Eagles who played out a 1-1 draw against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in Yaounde on Monday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports..

Moses Simon scored the opener for the Super Eagles, but a late penalty goal converted by substitute, Vincent Aboubacar ensured the Cameroonians earned a share of the spoils.

The draw moves Nigeria move up to ten points from four games with Cameroon in third place with three points from three games. Algeria host Zambia on Tuesday in the other Group B match.

Ndukwe told Completesportsnigeria.com after the game:”He (Ighalo) is a complete striker and he is growing in confidence as the Super Eagles leading marksman. He was the missing link in the Eagles in the game against South Africa.

“His runs drew out the Cameroonian defence line from their position which allowed Moses Simon and Victor Moses exploit the openings during the game.

“He will be crucial to the team’s success in their next game.”

Nigeria host Zambia in their next match on October 7 2017.

Cameroon vs Nigeria: Buhari reacts to 1-1 draw in Yaounde NEWS
By Ifreke Inyang

President Muhammadu Buhari has called on Nigerians to celebrate the Super Eagles, following their 1-1 draw with Cameroon, in a 2018 World Cup qualifying game on Monday in Yaounde.

Buhari posted a picture of himself watching the game on TV and tweeted: “Let’s celebrate our Super Eagles, holding Cameroon to a draw in Yaoundé. The march to #Russia2018 continues, and they have all our support!”

The Eagles survived early pressure, before they took the lead through Simon Moses, who lashed in on a loose ball.

Nigeria squandered several chances to double the lead, before goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa fouled Djoum Arnaud inside the area.

The referee pointed to the spot and Vincent Aboubacar kept his nerves to make it 1-1 with 15 minutes left.

The result sees the Eagles remain top of Group with 10 points, while Zambia who play Algeria on Tuesday are second with four points.

Come to think of it, it's a shame that the African champions are the first to have been eliminated in the African zone. Cameroon essentially did a "Greece" - who won the Euro 2004 tournament but failed to qualify for the 2006 World Cup.

Meanwhile, I'm beginning to doubt if Enyeama would still return to the team. If the SE complete the qualifiers without Enyeama playing a part, then the chances of him playing at the World Cup would be extremely low. He could think that it would be unfair to not have a taken a part in WCQ, and just show up to camp once the WC draws near.

On the other hand, he may yet think of creating some history for himself. If he makes himself available for WC selection, and gets to start in the tournament, he would become the first SE player to play in 4 or more senior World Cup competitions.

Mahrez skipped the first leg match on September 2 that Algeria lost 3-1 to return to England on August 31 where he attempted but failed to secure a summer transfer deadline move from Leicester City to Chelsea.

The 2016 African Player of The Year landed in Constantine on Sunday to link-up with his teammates who flew directly there from Lusaka on a charter flight after Saturdays match at National Heroes Stadium.

Mahrez’s return is a big boost for Algeria who are bottom of Group B on 1 point at the halfway stage of the qualifiers.
