Wonderful! Seems like a first. It would be a great thing to apply such rules in the NPFL. I think this will shake up that group

Not a first.

In 1993, a world cup qualifier between Egypt and Zimbabwe was annulled due to crowd violence. Egypt won the game 2:1.

The game was replayed in Lyon, France. It ended 0:0.. Zimbabwe topped the group.

I think I made my Points clear Sir. I didn't against Competitions in the Team, coz its definitely gonna make the Team Stronger and fearful to the Opponents.

But my Argument is; The LB needs a quick Fix than the RB. Aina and Ebuehi are good Players, both can also play at LB. Hence we should be more concerned about them replacing Echiejile in the Team than Shehu who has been exceptional so far. Even Awaziem can convincingly play RB, yet he couldn't dispose Shehu in the Lineup.

Sir.... there is a difference between a RB and a RWB and I believe you understand this much better than many of us on this Thread. Or will you like to see Moses playing RB for the Team?! Since he's very much exceptional as a Wingback for Chelsea?! LOL!

Seyi Ojo is a pure Winger, he has never played as a LB at any level, even not sure as a LWB too! Do you want him to be experimented as a LB at the Eagles' Camp?! You wanna make Eagles a Catalyst for them to resuscitate their dwindling Careers?!

When Jordan Ibe was invited, he claimed he's gonna wait for England Call up, I bet it Boss..... if he's invited NOW, he would honorably accept the Invitation with humility and perhaps be the first to hit the Camp.

Iwobi, Ekong, Balogun, Aina are more than happy to represent the Green White Green. They are proud of the Country and ready to give us their respective Best while donning the Jerseys. Eagles Camp ain't an Experimentation Ground Boss, the Team needs a natural LB not a Winger Sir.

Actually if you were to ask Jordan Ibe tonight he would say still say No.

Jordan has always known that a call up and continous stay in the three Lions is very slim. He just doesn't connect to Naija.

There were reports that he was now willing to switch allegiance to Nigeria, a year after rejecting Nigeria. England was a priority but if the Nigerian opportunity comes especially with a chance at the world cup, i doubt he will reject it.

Thank u my man,not even Ezenwa,Olishe walked straight into national team from no where,no international experience whatsoever and he became instant hit,Enyeama only had a friendly before England match and did not disappoint,Mike Emenalo left d stage in 1986 with very few caps but made d US 94 team with ease when Westerhoff realised that Ugbade cannot do it,though not all players can do that but Aina with options we have at fullbacks now ve everything to walk into the team.

Sometimes u wonder what are d yardsticks uses by coaches in inviting player,so u just have to keep mums.

What i deduced from Aaron Samuel invitation was a recommendation from somewhere coz Rohr made it glaring he was looking for a point man who w slug it out with physical Cameroonian side, thank God may be in build up to d match he realized he doesn't even need them,i was surprised seeing people already thumb up Rohr for d invitation of Aaron and Nwakaeme to d extent some are rating d duo than Nacho.

If in this era player like Aaron deserved invitation then what stop player like Martins from getting invitation or Brown Ideye who has been part of team. It's better to have player like Ideye,Oyekwuru or Kayode on d bench.Honestly some invitations are just waste of space.

Jobie,do we need any soothsayer to tell us Aaron cannot do it or even it w be suicide to start Nwakaeme(hope u remeber Peter Ijeh)in that team at d expense of Ighalo and Iheanacho.

This is football and national team should not be for mediocres. It should be for players who merit it and are ready to give it all.I think it's high time Rohr centred his attacking options on pool of players like Ighalo,Iheanacho,Kayode,Ideye,Oyekwuru.

Ighalo had it so good at EPL before moving to China,Nacho highly rated player in EPL with very good goal ratio even in d national team,Kayode had a wonderful season in Austria last season, signed by man city but loaned to Girona in la liga,Ideye a good player behind any striker(remind me of siasia)now in la liga,Oyekwuru doing it for Anderlecht, for God sake what do we need again and any player that w break in to this team must be exceptional striker

Prior to US 94,we already have our strikers(Yekinni,Amokachie, Siasia,Ekoku)so this campaign should not be an exceptional, not only attackers but in other department of d game.

I am going to add to all your concerns here regarding our LB position. Trust me this is a very serious concern.

Echiejile simply is not up to it. Let me take you back to our first game against Zambia. Omeruo has been hung out to dry for not dealing with a VERY SIMPLE cross which led to Collins Mbesuma muscling him out and firing at goal. I think the bigger issue not discussed at the time was what the Zambian winger Fwayo Tembo was doing to Echiejile. He was literally molesting the guy, dribbling past him repeatedly like he was a training cone!

Tembo had the freedom and space to put a couple of beautiful crosses in our box because Echiejile was too scared to close him down. Why? Because anytime he tried to go in and win the ball, Tembo just knocked it past him and that was it Echiejile was behind him and he could run clean into our box and pick his options! By being scared of closing him down the guy was able to keep putting balls in dangerous areas within our box and that's how the Zambians got a goal.

Stupidly but favorably for us, the Zambian coach substituted Tembo just after the goal, not sure why, he must have been injured because if he wasn't that would surely rank as one of the most shocking substitutions I have ever seen in football. Tembo was having a free ride and if he had stayed on Zambia will certainly have created more chances and perhaps scored more goals!

We must get a replacement before the Zambia game or I predict a rough ride.

Who else noticed that the Zambian players who scored the goals to knock out star studded Algeria have barely left their teenage years? We must be very very careful. I am worried.

Oh Echiejele on d lips of every sincere football analysts. How i wish this guy can go back to 2013 form. After 2013 Echiejele refused to be d best for d LB but funny enough he has always be d man for LB despite poor form.He was one of d player that made d job tough for Keshi but just too late for big boss to realise.

Are we saying no replacements for Echiejele even d talented ones like Iroha,Babayaro,Udeze,Taiwo didn't had it so good in d national team than Echiejele which i term average. But one thing is cleared about his career,no matter what he always find a club to lace his boot in every season meaning u don't leave such active experience player out of your squad but does he deliver in d national team of recent? No

I remember goldfish80 was here suggesting an home based player Osaro and he was so sure d guy w do justice to that position than Echiejele right now but are we ready to give him d chance coz we don't believe in home based players.

Good we have Ola Aina now who is doing well for Hull city but some are saying does he has d experience to weather d storm but what is glaring if Chelsea can loan Omeruo last season and Ola Aina was part of d squad then d guy is highly rated, may be he w be an option for Echiejele, time w tell but Echiejele is losing it and must show that urgency again.

How France missed 1994 world cup.
France needed a win in their last 3 games to qualify which included 2 home games.
The first was home game against Israel. France was leading 2:1 until the last 7min when Israel equalised and went on to win.
The next game France drew away from home.
In the last game, a draw would have been enough but they conceded a 90min goal to end 1:2 against Bulgaria.

This is for those thinking it is over. No team is a pushover. Who says Zambia, cannot win in Nigeria? Who says Nigeria will find it easy beating Algeria away from home?

Except the players fight as they did in Uyo, there's no guarantee.

Absolutely right, terrible year in France football history, they squandered their chance coz they believed they are already qualified, was a terrible blow that always comes to d mind of any coach and Rohr cannot be exceptional.

Let's say around March this year I got to understand very strongly that he was not interested. So I had no reason to believe otherwise.

In football nothing is static. I think it's media speculation. I will enquire.

I am wondering more about Seyi Ojo at left back as an improvement actually a big improvement to what we currently have.

Those forward options look good enough. We know it took a while for Ighalo to replicate that fine club form in SE. Some players will come good immediately. Others may get their chance time and time again, and like in your Ijeh example, some will never be good enough (Also remember the likes of Ujah and Akpala). There are several young strikers that have shown great promise.. but their eyes should be more on Qatar. Well, we'll see.

On Ola Aina...

Within weeks of playing in the championship he has been voted as the most outstanding right back. That's not an easy feat.

He may be in the Championship but he is definitely premiership quality. The Championship is a stepping stone to the EPL. The most highly rated and expensive left back in England does not play in the EPL but for Fulham in the championship. That's Ryan Ssegnon he is only 17 they have already rejected bids of £30 million.

Ola Aina is quality, I wanted to see him tested at least ad a substitute. Shehu has done well, buy how well? we can't make a true assessment without comparison. Let's see what Aina can do, the quest is to improve not remain static.

Qualifying for the World cup is one achievement but putting in a team that can put in a performance to compete and even get to the finals is another.

We will need to keep improving constantly evaluating players and creating competition to get the best we can possibly get.

I will say improvise. Shehu has cemented a place at RB for now. If there is anything that needs to be changed quickly, it's our LB. let Aina replace Uwa. That's a more realistic demand, as oftentimes we don't fix what is not broken. eventually, maybe before the WC Aina could displace Shehu at RB, hopefully when we have secured Torunarigha, Ojo etc

Snub video: Moses, Musa, others see Pinnick as big brother

Published September 6, 2017

The Nigeria Football Federation has again denied there is any rift between Super Eagles players and the NFF president, Mr Amaju Pinnick.

A video had emerged on Monday showing Chelsea FC’s winger, Victor Moses; Leicester City’s Ahmed Musa and goalkeeper trainer Alloy Agu ignoring Mr. Pinnick who was part of the party that welcomed the Super Eagles to Cameroon for a 2018 World Cup qualifying encounter.

But, in a statement on Wednesday, the regulator said the video was misconstrued and that the players, including Moses and Musa, see Mr. Pinnick “as a big brother” and did not deliberately snubbed him.

The Federation explained that Mr. Pinnick had travelled on the same plane with the Super Eagles for the Cameroon encounter, and the players did not expect he “would still be waiting by the aircraft to shake hands with them”.

The statement read, “The attention of the Nigeria Football Federation has been drawn to a video being circulated by some persons who claim the said slide showed a couple of players of the Super Eagles refusing to shake hands with NFF President Amaju Pinnick as the Nigerian delegation arrived Yaounde, Cameroon on Sunday, 3rd September 2017 for a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Cameroon.

“The truth is that by his position, the NFF President is a father to players of all the National Teams. In reality, the present crop of players in the Super Eagles sees and takes Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick as a big brother, and holds him in very high esteem.

“Nothing has happened to change that perception. The NFF President came down from the Bombardier CRJ 1000 jet on landing and opted to stay by the aircraft to appreciate the players and officials on arrival. The said players, and even goalkeepers’ trainer Alloy Agu, obviously did not know that the NFF President, having flown with the delegation on the same aircraft, would still be waiting by the aircraft to shake hands with them.

“Nothing was planned. He stood there simply appreciating the troops that had decimated African champions Cameroon in Uyo and were determined to do a double over the Cameroonians in Yaounde.”

It added, “The said players, Ahmed Musa and Victor Moses, (and Alloy Agu) NEVER showed disrespect to the NFF President, as can be attested to by the comments of Moses and Musa in the aftermath.

“Perhaps, the objective of the said video was to create disaffection between the NFF President and the said players, but this fell flat on its face as the players afterwards met with the NFF President and laughed the whole thing off as ridiculous.

“As the NFF and the Super Eagles unite to stay on the same page and prepare adequately for the MUST-WIN 2018 World Cup qualifying match against Zambia in Uyo next month, we appeal to all genuine stakeholders of Nigerian Football and friends of Nigeria elsewhere to focus on the many positives from the qualifying campaign so far, encourage both the Federation and the team to continue to give its best and appreciate that together, each will always achieve more. No scheme fashioned by anyone can bring schisms within the Super Eagles camp or between the NFF and the squad.”

Nigeria: Super Eagles' Fringe Players to Face Algeria After Zambia Clash

By Christian Okpara
The Super Eagles' technical crew will give players, who have not had the opportunity to play for the country in the on-going Russia 2018 World Cup qualifying series to feature in the last game against Algeria. That is, if the Eagles beat Zambia next month to confirm Nigeria's qualification for the Copa du Mondo.

Zambia surprised bookmakers on Tuesday when they went to Algiers to beat Algeria in their matchday four game. That victory took Zambia seven points, three lower than Nigeria, who will host them in Uyo on October 7.

A win in that game guarantees Nigeria the ticket to Russia 2018 World Cup. The Guardian learnt that fringe players, including home-based stars and some based in Europe were originally billed to take on Zambia until the Chipolopolo took the decision out Coach Gernot Rohr's hands in Algiers.

One of the officials, who pleaded anonymity, said in Yaoundé on Monday that the qualifiers also serves as preparation for the World Cup, adding that it has given the coaches the opportunity to assess the mentality of the players that have featured in the series.

"The coaches know what the players in the CHAN team can do, but they also want to see them in grade A games. "If as expected We beat Zambia to qualify for the World Cup, there will be no need to play against Algeria with the players in the main team," he said.

MLS record man Fanendo Adi again questions Eagles snub

By admin -
September 7, 2017

Striker Fanendo Adi, who has set several goals’ records in the Major League Soccer (MLS), has again questioned his continued snub by the Super Eagles.

The former Nigeria U17 star was invited by the Eagles early last year, but he eventually did not get to make his debut for the country.

The big target man of Portland Timbers said he will now focus on his career in the MLS, while also wondering why he has continued to be overlooked by national team selectors.

“My continued exclusion from the team is questionable,” stated Agu, who has also played in Denmark and Ukraine.

“In fairness to the players, they have done well by making the country proud and I wouldn’t want to say I am better than them or I would have done better.

“For me, I have moved on, I think I am not needed in the team so I have to concentrate on my club football.”

However, the striker will still leave the door open to feature for the Eagles.

“What I believe is that the door is not closed and I am not going to point accusing fingers to anybody over my non-inclusion, but it’s not because I am not ready to play for the team, but unfortunately I can’t invite myself and that’s just the basic fact.”

if indeed he said this then we don't need him. The quote sounds disrespectful and full of pride. He may end up disrupting the squad.

MLS record man Fanendo Adi again questions Eagles snub
