More of a technically sound player and carried more average team mates than lamps! Lamps played with some great players in their prime....terry, carvalo, zola, drogba, cech, makelele, cashley? Lamps was big game stevie g was pure talent featuring big game!

Stevie g was always their key man....stuck in an average team but still scored great goals, ran their midfield and dropped merciless passes and performances that led to solid victories! And almost took them to an elusive prem title...won the important trophies even before lamps (champs league, FA and europa) lamps only trumped him with the prem....there is a reason why chelsea and Madrid chased him for so long!

My view

Lamps might have had the luxury to play with a great supporting cast, but it wasn't just that that kept him in the team and also successful, it was his consistency, something Gerrard lacked.

I don't want to mention the number of times Steve had to slip to let the title slip, or the number of times he had to let his team down. All these were non-existent in Franky's game, he was consistent.

You have to be a demi-god of a midfielder to possess the ability of netting double figures in multiple seasons, Lamps managed 15 or more in all but two seasons with Chelsea.

Two areas Lamps had an edge over Steve; consistency and output.

I am sure they are on par when it comes to technicality.

Luiz reaction wasn't normal. He wouldn't have done that to ibrahimovic in psg or costa in chelsea.
