I'm a none believer Ethiopian. I'm a History student, so I know our post mid 4th century AD History was very much related with Christianity. Ethiopian Tewahedo Orthodox was and still the most important identity of true Ethiopians; especially to the majority of Amhara, Tigray and Agew ppl in which I belong.

Majority of the Christians in Ethiopia are very devoted to their faith and strictly follow the Orthodox rules like pasting for 250s days per year (Wednesday and Friday always), avoiding some banned foods and others.

I know most of my ancestors were devoted Orthodox Christians, so it's part of my identity. I know I don't believe in God, but I want to go and have great connections with Christianity sites here in Ethiopia like:-
- The Lalibela churches
- The Church of Our Lady Mary of Zion
- Debre Lebanos and Damo monasteries
- The churches and monasteries in lake Tana
- The churches in Debre Brehan
- And others....

I want the Ethiopian Tewahedo Orthodox Christianity to continue to exist as long as possible. I get mad when I read in History books about the destruction of churches, monasteries and Christianity texts. I see Islam as an enemy of Ethiopia. I want Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity supremacy over Islam in Ethiopia.

Ok know coming to my question, is there any none believers here who feels like I do and wants to associate with his/her ancestors religion identity like Christianity, Islam or any other?

GodsMopol,

I don't know what the Bible that much, but I know that it was an Apostle name Matthew who introduced Christianity to Ethiopia in the 1st century AD. Christianity became the official religion of Ethiopia, when King Ezana of Axumite converted in 320s AD. Because of this our country was the 2nd Christian state after Armenia.
I know that one of the oldest church and Christian texts are found in Ethiopia.

Are you Orthodox or Catholic or Protestant Christian?

I don't teach the Gospel. I don't know that much about the Bible.

religion is often intelligible with culture, that's why terms like 'cultural christian' and 'lapsed Catholic' exist and are self-identified with. Even in very secular societies like here in Europe religion is still there in the background subconsciously influencing our actions because that's what culture does.

Woooow, are you serious about Ethopia having the oldest church. I'm pentecostal. But at 1AD, that's serious. Ethopia is quite an interesting country for prigram if that's the case

You could learn a few things about the things Jesus has done for us and preach it to those who will listen, am pentecostal by the way

Not the oldest church, but among the oldest.
It's on exactly 1 AD, but in some years of the 1st Century AD.

Is pentecostal driven from Protestant Christianity?

Axum and Lalibela are the holiest place for Orthodox Christians in Ethiopia and are centers for pilgrimage

The 11 monolithic rock-hewn churches of Lalibela are among the 10 UNESCO heritage sites in Ethiopia (the largest number in Africa) and were built from a single rock being carved in the 12th and 13th century AD. They were built as a NEW JERUSALEM for Ethiopian Christians to pilgrimage after Jerusalem was captured by Muslims. It's architecture is very unique and some scholars even call it as 8th WOUNDER OF THE WORD.

I agree with you but on different note. both Christianity and Islam are adopted religion in Ethiopia.

I think we should go back to our tradition. monotheism religion exist long ago in Africa before the white men adopt it.

this will eliminate neo colonialism.

we are not idol worshipper . we believed in the most supreme even before them.

there is a lot of similarities between IFA adhrent(nigeria ) and Ethiopia tradition religion especially the oromo tribe. they believe in the most supreme call waka which is consulted through a mediator called ayana. this how is it among Yoruba tribe. we believe in the most supreme olodumare. we consult him through orunmila though a priest call babalawo. oromo called them killa

but I think your country has done well better than Nigeria for now. your country has implement a degree in herbal medicine in her university. a way forward I think.

Protect all you wanna protect but don't tell anyone that Christianity is the only way. You can follow your passion as a community service but be careful so that you don't find yourself believing the Jesus story again.
