So sorry about the delay.

I remembered how positive you have always been but I know you will excel.

Kindly share your profile because I can see that the normal career progression that people talk about over here is not your issue. So there is definitely more to it and the term 'purpose of visit' is really really wide with different reasons under it.

Sir, kindly share your profile so that we can dissect it together. But in the interim before reapplying, kindly order for your gcms notes.

So sorry about the delay. There's definitely a reason.

long post alert
Arebo, sorry about your denial.

In my view, an "insufficient funds" denial is one of the easiest to get out of, so long as you are able to verifiably show funds in your name beforehand. Pay one year tuition and show $10k in dom account in your name, but I suggest your sponsor transfer more than $10k to your dom account... more like $13k-15k if possible... this psychologically tells the VO that your sponsor is able and willing to let go of funds. Stay with $10k if that's all that's possible tho.

It is also indeed possible to get denied for other reasons even if the first denial was just for "insufficient funds" (this happened to two monikers in 2015 actually...). I know it sounds contradictory to the previous paragraph but let me explain how I think you can avoid this (as long as your next application is of same or better quality as the previous). Edited: Disclaimer: this is not a guarantee o, as I am obviously not a VO.

Ok here's what to do: Write a separate "Letter of Clarification" stating the reasons why you were denied last time (list it as bullet points so it is easy for the VO to read in case s/he isn't paying attention) and what you have done to fix it (write this in another set of bullet points showing each step of what you've done).

See the next post for an example format (modify it to your needs but I don't suggest you copy it exactly)

In doing the above, the VO is likely to not treat your application as a fresh application, but as an application that has already passed CIC rigour and only wasn't approved because of finances. Keep the letter in a very visible place in your application, if you submit on paper put it on the page right after your CIC forms, or right before your SOP. If online, put as the first page in the LOE section, and maybe even another copy as first page in Finances section. You want the VO to see it before over-analyzing your app all over again lol.

Good day House!

I and my husband registered with WES for assessment since Aug 2016. I got my own assessment Dec 2016. He is yet to get his assessment. The status still shows "Awaiting verification from Institution". He has gone to his alma mata (Uni Ibadan) to follow-up and he ensured those in charge responded but the status still remains the same. WES still claims not have received confirmation from Uni Ibadan. Please what do you think he can do as this is delaying us from creating EE profile

Hello Cnwag,

So sorry about the delay sad Professor Maziude, your attention is needed here. Kindly assist fellow "Uottawa" student wink

Do you have any study gap? Do you have any work experience? If yes, what field and how many years of work experience do you have in the field? You can share your profile.

For instance, if you have like 5 years work experience in the Engineering field and you applied for a Master's degree in Sociology, you may be denied study permit based on purpose of visit if you fail to relate/explain the reason for the career change in your SOP. The reason is because it may be assumed by a Visa Officer that you are expected to continue in the Engineering field. (This is just an example grin)

I wish you the best!

This people just pour san san for one of my garri link.

@Cnwag, Sorry for the delay bro. Please order for your gcms notes.

I would have asked you to defer but I doubt if your academic unit allows that. I am saying this because I went to your faculty (I am assuming you belong to faculty of Social science) for a friend (her course is MA Public and International affairs)who wanted to defer, they told her she cant defer, that she would have to re-apply and pay the application fee but her previous documents will be used. Since those are valid for one year.

But order your gcms notes .

Sorry once again.

Sorry about the outcome of your application.

Considering your academic background, intended program, your profile is good. The officer was probably not satisfied that you are using the study route to advance your career but thinks you are using it to gain entry into Canada and would not leave upon completion.

1. You will need to have a compelling reason for choosing and pursuing your proposed program.

2. Why you have not chosen similar program in Nigeria considering the expenses.

3.Your long and short term goals with the program.

4 Demonstrate how profitable Sociology is in Nigeria and what your actual purpose with a master in it is.

Lastly and most importantly, you must demonstrate and satisfy the officer that your plan is to study and leave after your authorized stay even if you can stay after study.
This can be shown in WHY you chosed the program, What you plan to do with it when you return, How a master degree from Canada would help your career growth and advancement.

The refusal in my opinion has nothing to do with your proposed course or a career change. It is more of you not satisfying the officer that you need the master degree program in sociology. It's really important you pay attention to this and you must demonstrate it as well. However, order for your GCMS note. It will also help you.

Regards.

Please help me also. I am applying to University of Windsor for Masters in Supply Chain Management. My first degree is in Information Management. I currently work in the Supply Chain Industry as a Logistics Support Officer (3 years). Would the vo have issues with my application?
I don't think so. As long as you show that there will be significant progression in your career as a logistic officer both in your current company and in future when you complete your proposed program. 3 years is sufficient to have good establishment in this field and a master degree in it is not out of place. The onus however is on you to clearly and cogently satisfy the officer that yes indeed, completing this master program will even make You achieve higher feet eg a high level manager and will also help you meet some required skills and expertise to perform at that level. It's actually how you make your program significant that would give you the higher chance.
