Do you know how I everyday calculate the number of troops we would be able to project because of those A400Ms? Together with the helicopter carrier that was supposed to be purchased in the Arms Deal.

Can we have a new president already and maybe grow our economy by 5% annually then the government can start spending again.

Seeing the current version can handle Milan and Starstreak, but not Ingwe IPLS.

Speaking of which, can anybody explain to me why we continue to hold the Milan in inventory seeing that Denel has now developed the Ingwe IPLS?

Who remembers Henry240's argument about aircraft repair centres across Africa?

Well, according to AfricaCheck there's 49 listed across the continent but non were actually found in west Africa.

http://polity.org.za/article/does-africa-only-have-3-facilities-to-repair-aircraft-2017-09-14

In pic: A South African registered civilian Russian helicopter leaves a Denel Aviation facility

ActivateKruger:

He didn't bother reading the article, his own authorities admit that " If aircraft checks and repairs were done locally, Nigeria could save US$500 million annually and create up to 10,000 jobs, a June 2017 aviation seminar heard" .... Also " But John Ojikutu, a member of Nigerian aviation industry think-tank Aviation Round Table and retired Nigeria air force pilot, said that the country’s states had more pressing concerns, such as building more schools and hospitals"

So, his logic is like when General Motors says they don't have facilities in your town then you post them a picture of a Chevy stripped in some warehouse with guys on overalls.

Facilities in Nigeria

1) Aero contractors facility
2) NAF AIRDC facility Kaduna
3) NAF facility in Kainji.

Hey man, I said you should take me to the right people. I ain't sharing the design online, too many eyes.

I'm working on something around these lines, but with 2 secondary light machine guns mounted on the top sides. They can be exchanged for Milkor MGLs, so a single Hornet can fire a .50 and 3 SS77s or a single .50 with 1 SS77 and 2 grenade launches. That's deadly, I know.

@Augubugu it seems your cognitive disconnect
with reality stems from various factors.
Ignorance, arrogance, deception,
propaganda, parochialism. But a
shorthand term for the cognitive
impairment is "stupidity".

All that has been mounted on the Hornet. I thought you understood why a long-wheel base was necessary. The 20 together with the Ingwe IPLS doesn't work on the current version.

True, all have been mounted but not on the configuration I mentioned. Think about it, 1 Browning and 3 SS77s in a single vehicle? I too get the chills thinking about it. (also, the number of operators is increased)

As for the Ingwe ATM and the Browning in the same vehicle, wouldn't the Browning gunner block the viewfinder and projection of the missile from his back?

No. The 20mm gun, 81mm mortar and 7.62 PKM all on the same vehicle seems to work just fine. You're not understanding the problem with the Ingwe on the Hornet.

Remember the project to develop a man portable Mokopa missile? Why was the project stopped? cor......

My guess is that the Ingwe similar to the BILL 2 ATGM which had over the top attack capabilities is too heavy. The BILL 2 was offered to the SANDF.

Quite correct. There is absolutely no need for a new presidential aircraft. Especially when the current one is in robust health and the SAAF has more pressing need for those funds.

I actually think VIP Transport for the Presidency should be moved out of the SAAF. If it stays, the Presidency should pay for it, instead of SAAF's operational funds.
Or we go the same way as our Pommie cousins: a modular fleet like the Airbus MRTT which does RAF cargo duty, Air2Air refuelling and can be fitted with the VIP module when requested (and paid for) by 10 Downing Street.

We really should not have cancelled our A400M order angry angry angry
Problem is the "unwillingness to share".

If budget allowed I'd say we acquire 3 MRTT. One fitted for EW purposes. They'd be useful in personnel transportation too.
