Greetings, great minds. Please I need your urgent assistance. I applied for a Canadian visa two months ago to attend a 2 days conference in Canada with my colleague; and also schedule an interview appointment with the US embassy for my annual leave holiday after returning from the conference in Canada. Now it's been more than two months the conference has come and gone no response from Canada, I had to reschedule my appointment at the us embassy to attend on the 21st of this September since my passport is still with the Canadian Embassy. Now I've written to Canada about two weeks ago to retrieve my passport so as to enable me attend my us interview yet no response from them.
Please help, how do I go about this being that am scheduled to attend my us interview next tomorrow. Will really appreciate your urgent response, gurus. cry cry

GOOD AFTERNOON My good people of Nairaland. To be honest I've missed this Forum.

Nefetitiram, LadyG,Seyewest, Omobendel and all gurus in the house, I throway salute.

please I have some very important questions.

Is there any ban on American citizens who wants to visit Nigeria?
my friend called me now and told me that his fiancé tried to book a flight from North Carolina to Lagos but it keeps rejecting her.

Also, he has been filled for under K1 visa and is still waiting to be called for an interview. but now he wants to go and visit her wife to be by applying on a visitor's visa. can he get the visitors visa since his petition is still on process at the embassy?

please I need a swift advise and response from Good people of this forum as I told him I'm not sure if he can get a visitor's visa but have to ask here first to be sure of whatever I will answer him.

Remember, he has been petitioned for already, but have not been invited for an interview.

Oh, it was always here.... Not straightforward though, but I see clearly now!

Funny that you can't see your error.. You keep hammering about your brother who is a permanent residence but you have no evidence of that.. He should provide you with his passport page, Resident paper etc so that the embassy can reach him and verify the information. Since you failed to do that what do you expect?

I thought you guys keep mentioning here that no documents are checked! How come this?
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by ladylco: 7:15am On Sep 20, 2017
KaptainAfrika:
I have seen this twice now in transcripts, if your host is an Legal Permanent Resident in the US, you should request for supporting documents from him or her. I think those are the only documents that are easily verifiable. Also know how he or she entered the US, that helps too.

They dont need any document to verify that, all they require is the persons name and DOB and with that they will get the details they need, besides you guys keep crucifying people who went to the embassy with documents and now this! If the USA need to verify anything all they need is just info, forget all these document matter.

all you need to advise the guy is to say that he is aware that the embassy do not encourage presenting documents for tourist visa therefore he didnt see it necessary to come with it however if he can be permitted to return with it that he will go get it. then if he is not granted the chance atleast he tried.

@all I wish we can be helping ourselves by thiinking for ourself too. This analytical thinking helps also during the interview.

@ wolesap you almost had it but u blew it by not thinking on your feet. VO wanted proof of brothers status. Yes u didn't have it. That's where quick thinking comes into play. Me for answer
' i don't have it on me because the VOs on the social media forums said I don't need extra documents however if I can be given a date, I'll produce it'
This shows confidence and logical reasoning which nobody can fault.
Pele. Keep on reading

Perfect response!

The vo could have easily checked the status without the document but clearly either he was hungry or something. The guy for no just give am space.
That's the reason I always prefer folks get it right the first time. I feel VOs are usually more biased the second tym. In my case however I waited for my circumstances to change materially
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by KaptainAfrika: 7:43am On Sep 20, 2017
I made an observation and gave a suggestion. In two transcripts,I have seen, the applicants have been asked for evidence of their relatives status. And I suggested that those who have L.P.R or citizens as relatives, should take evidence, just in-case it is requested for. OUTSIDE OF THAT CONTEXT, DOCUMENTS ARE NOT CHECKED...IF DOCUMENTS ARE TO BE CHECKED, APPLICANTS ARE USUALLY GIVEN 221G PAPER, TO GO AND GET THE DOCUMENTS AND COME BACK. IN ALL THE TRANSCRIPTS POSTED HERE, HAVE YOU SEEN ANYONE BEING ASKED FOR DOCUMENTS OUTSIDE OF BIRTHING, IMMIGRATION AND SCHOOLING?

Read my past post where the issue of document presentation was being debated concerning B!/B2 visa were I was asked evidence of the conference I was going for when I got my 1st usa visa. I remember also one of the vo asking an applicant his hotel booking confirmation so what about that? What class will you place that?
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by KaptainAfrika: 9:38am On Sep 20, 2017
A VO here has always stated, that documents are not checked. How about that? I just said from observation from transcripts, these class of applicants should go with that evidence, just in case.

@AbujaNIV sir, I see you are strolling "pass" our thread, please, this current trend we read about lately as touching checking of documents for B visas for tourism (holidaying) purpose, how true is this? Seems there's a change of approach or are we reading over-bloated transcripts? Regards sir....

@AbujaNIV and @LagosNIV sirs, seems we are asking for too much, just as it is seeming semi-established that things are no longer the way they used to be and has been established here by you on documents presentation for B1/B2 "holidaying tourist" visa interview. Please once more, a clarification will suffice. Thanks sirs

Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by Biamoz(m): 11:04am On Sep 20, 2017
Good morning, I have just been denied and my interview was in less than 3minutes. It goes thus

Me: Good morning
Vo: Good morning
Vo: your passport please
Vo: Why are you going to US
Me: To attend a conference
Vo: What conference
Me: bla bla bla conference taking place in bla bla city
Vo: Have you been denied US visa before ?
Me: yes
Vo: why
Me: my wife applied for DV lottery 2012 and she was among the winners. The visa was denied because of the mistake she made while applying for the visa lottery. She mistakenly use our country of residence as the foreign state of chargerbility instead of Nigeria. She used it because we are living legally in the country
Vo: looking on his computer and says " yes yes she suppose to use Nigeria as the from state of chargerbility.

Then he said sorry bla bla bla and handed me the blue leaflet

Please what could be wrong since I have a good travel history having travelled to France, Italy, Spain, UAE, Tanzania , Ghana, Mali and Zimbabwe

Thank you @ KaptainAfrika,
(1) Know that I am not desperate, and me applying for DV lottery as for me do not show desperation since DV lottery is free for all to apply for, and if the VO is judging me based on this, i think this is unfair as many people that have applied for DV lottery and have the same issue with me have gotten B1/B2 visa.

(2)I have to travel to turkey so that I can redeem the voucher (flight ticket) given to me from work that will expire in may (5 months expiration period: January to May 2016).... its a free ticket voucher and we taught of using it to travel to US if we were granted that what made us apply in February 2016 and after denial , we then used it in April so wont loose i wont loos the voucher.

So in December 2016, we decided to apply again and was denied

(3)The VO never ask "why are you desperate to go to US"
------He asked where do you want to visit in USA: chicago |VO said OK
-------where do you want to visit there: Bleep, Bleep, Bleep |VO said OK
-------do you have any relative in USA: No (and honestly NO) | VO said OK

he started typing, stopped typing and starring at his computer for like a minute. and just bring out blue paper and said sorry your visa cannot be granted now, reapply....

Chikena, thats why i said can I choose another state asides chicago that i chose before?
cos there is another bonus (voucher in he making for me) thats why i wanted to reapply

Visiting Chicago in December is catalyst for refusal. My opinion though

lol.off course yes i have a valid b1/b2 visa. Being to the US twice before though via United and Delta Airlines respectively, just that they are quite expensive now. Actually wanted to see flying Qatar isn't an issue so I can save some cash to procure some lenses for my next project. So,I need a firm advise whether or not I can fly Qatar airways.
Qatar airline is not a bad one. Its comfy .just came in last with them . Wify used Air france and she didn't enjoy their meal. Air france expensive but Qatar affordable.

I personally feel on the sea of documents, it's not necessary to go with any document on a B1/B2 application expecially, but because of seldom occasions where a VO would see, it's advisable to go with a few "more important" ones
But who would have ever taught an ordinary hotel reservation would be asked
So, not going with at all could be a bit misleading, but just a few issokay

Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by abujaniv: 2:46pm On Sep 20, 2017
Hello. The standard "no documents" advice still stands. On rare occasions, we will require presentation of some documents. This is sometimes done to establish family relationships, medical payments, business activities, etc. When this is needed, we will put the case on hold and allow the applicant to send in the needed documents (or copies) to us. I want to stress that these are rare cases. If it gives you peace of mind to carry an armload of documents, do so by all means. In all likelihood, they will not be examined. Proactively shoving stacks of unrequested documents at us in the interview window is not appreciated.

You have a high chance if you can convince the VO that you will return and with good ties here in Nigeria . Just be honest bold and pray. The Canadian visa refusal has nothing to do with the US.
