The Minister mentioned the mig and yak-130. The problem there is that he didn't specify if it was mig 29 or mig 35 but my best guess is mig 29.

Thanks for posting.

and for temperature in algerian desert , you can have until 50° C grin in some regions in hot summer days and less then 0°C in the night

I've experienced 50 celsius, April 2007 Juba, S Sudan just before the rains. You leave the hotel, cross the street and return for a large soda! Finally, you learn to do everything by 11 am and continue after 4pm when the worst is over. Until you acclimatise you rehydrate constantly, drinking up to 5 l of fluids daily. Even the locals just find shade and wait for the rains!

Algerian famous military bloggeur Akram Kharief from menadefense web site asked Alexander Mikheev the CEO of Rosoboronexport directly about this question

the answer , egyptians get the Mig 29 M2 version and the Mig 35 is not ready yet , first delivry will be in 18 to 24 months

Good. This confirms what I read earlier that mig-35 will be ready for export by 2018 or 2019.

if u sign a contract for a fighter , delivery generally not necessarily takes 3 years or so

if the order is for good no of airframes , mig will speed up the development due to the new additional funding otherwise they will take their own sweet time due to crunch in funding

South Africa has the 36th largest budget in the world where Nigeria is ranked 8th. You littraly can not match the raw spending power of South Africa if South Africa wanted to throw every thing In to defence

Nigeria is a federation. Federal government budget is not state government budget, neither is it the local government budget.

That simply means the figures do not represent facts.

Same as South Africa, municipal generated capital has not been taken into consideration.

But anyways arms are not purchased by local level budgets.

Anyways it's a know fact that the Nigeria government is less efficient in collecting tax. There's not much big companies in Nigeria which are big tax contributors.

Our provinces all have there own budgets and revenue stream. So what's your point. Defence budget comes from federal government my statement was that Nigeria does not have the money to fly there jets to SA to take part in war games and same with SAAF. Maybe if Nigeria was not fighting a war NAF could afford to waste money to join the annual SADC air force war games.

All so I do not see the states budgets adding much if your federal government all ready has all most 50% of its budget being loan money.

A deadly piece of kit. Those ATGM would be very effective on the open ground of North Africa.

NAF flew to South-Africa and participated in the AU exercise despite the insurgency. It will also participate in a SADC exercise if invited.

Financing a budget from loans doesn't mean there is no money, it simply means that it is quicker to finance that way while revenue is generated through the various government revenue generating agencies.

The reason why NAF might not participate would be because assets are stretched and dedicating assets operations outside the sub-region would not be feasible.

NAF deploying to Gambia is farther than NAF deploying to Angola for instance.

yes the "berezhok" upgrade include :
- independent sights of commander and gunner with optical , thermal imaging , laser rangefinder and ATGM control channel .
- the installation of the crew compartment ,
- a 30-mm automatic gun 2A42,
- 4 launchers of anti-tank missile system (ATGM) "Kornet"with 5,5 km range ( deadly for tanks in north african open environment )
- 30-mm automatic grenade launcher AGS-30,
- 7.62 mm PKT coaxial machine gun-

B05Ya01 Berezhok manned turret developed by Tula-based KBP company (a subsidiary of the High-Precision Weapons holding) is the latest upgrade of the basic BMP-2`s combat module. It incorporates 30mm 2A42 automatic gun as a main weapon with coaxial 7.62mm PKT/PKTM machinegun . B05Ya01 is equipped with anti-tank guided missiles, namely, four ready-to-launch 9M133 Kornet-E ATGMs.

The module has also received 30mm AG-30 automatic grenade launcher (AGL) and six 902B Tucha smoke grenade launchers . 2A42 gun can fire armor-piercing and high-explosive shells , being able to destroy targets at the distances up to 2000 m and 4000 m, respectively.

The gun has ammunition load of 500 shells. AG-30 AGL can fire three types of grenades , namely, VOG-17M, VOG-30, GPD-30, being able to destroy personnel targets at the distances up to 1700-2100 m. Berezhok can fire five types of Kornet munitions, namely anti-tank tandem-warhead 9M133-1/9M133-2 and anti-personnel thermobaric 9M133F-1/9M133F-2/9M133F-3 missiles. Kornet -E ATGMs can penetrate 1000-1300mm armour behind explosive reactive armour (ERA), being able to eliminate targets at the distances up to 5500 m .

B05Ya01 is equipped with independent sights of commander and gunner, allowing them to work in 'hunter-killer' mode. The gunner`s sight has four channels: optical , thermal imaging , laser rangefinder and ATGM control channel . The commander has received panoramic sight with laser rangefinder and television channel . Berezhok can be installed on either BMP-1 or BMP-2 IFVs.

Nigerian army should go for this upgrade too for there bmp

I believe the Berezhok is the same turret mounted on a BTR Bummerang featured during Army 2017 in Russia.

I need this in my life. I need the bush and the hardship just for a weekend... Still haven't decided where I'm going to this December smiley

Highly trained Elites, true specops are always a boon to any formation. However imo,it shouldn't be the prime objective of every army. I refer to the smaller gendarme type armies eg Cote de Ivoire which has suffered 2 mutinies in a year and has a 'specops' unit. Do you have any idea the training cost of a trained operator?
It is estimated to cost $350,000 to $500,000 to train a single Navy SEAL.
That figure includes all the equipment, training and live rounds, medical, food etc etc civvies can only guess at.
SEAL Team Six started with 75 shooters. According to Marcinko, the annual ammunition training allowance for the command was larger than that of the entire U.S. Marine Corps. The unit has virtually unlimited resources at its disposal.[12]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SEAL_Team_Six
Obviously one asks-are these real operators like the SA Recces or just random niggas with fancy patches? Also, will France, the reemergent neo colonial controller of the post Gbagbo era train real operators?

Looking at the Ivorian army order of inventory:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armed_Forces_of_the_Republic_of_Ivory_Coast

they're short ALL warfighting platforms. They don't even have MBTs! AFvs and MRAPs are few and far between while tac air and transport are totally absent-is a specops force a priority at this point? HELL NO!?

Ideally, they should properly train and equip regular infantry forces and then consider establishing elite units.

yes after google verification its the same compagny KBP Instrument Design Bureau based in Tula, that designed the Bumerang-BM turret for T-15 Armata heavy IFV , Kurganets-25 , Bumerang platforms and for our berezhok Bmp upgrade.

If I Remer that was a transport aircraft. This entire debate has been about fighter jets. So keep things grounded. I am sure they would send another transport aircraft to SADC mission.

All I am saying is that I can not get a loan if my debt is 50% of my budget

That's my point. Naf is busy and there fighters are stretched.
