I Mistakenly Bought A Non-drivable Car by halima83: 9:44am On Sep 26, 2017 |
I mistakenly bought a non-drivable car toyota corolla with rear accident from one of the auction sites in the US. and I can't cancel it. After I clicked on buy now option I got an email from the site that my car is a none drivable. chaiii I went back to the site and confirmed as that. I am yet to make full payment though. Those with experience with buying the non-drivable cars what is your take on this? What were the issues with these types of cars? lalasticlala please help your sister for feedback from the experts. |

(1)Can be returned to auction, but you will definitely be fined. Your account can be terminated at most. (2)if you are boxed up, you can buy a drivable small truck in addition that can haulage the car at the back, ship all and clear all. More expensive that way, but you can now sell the truck. Good luck 25 Likes 2 Shares |

halima83: I honestly cannot give you a quote from the top of my head..... I think it's best you call the manufacturer for pricing & also try sourcing prices locally (eBay, breakers yard) etc etc. And compare cost Not also forgetting workmanship and loss in value due to history (not unless you intend to use it till the engine drops).... 5 Likes 2 Shares |

halima83: If you don't want the car again, they will charge you the $400 or 10% of the value of the car which you deposited before the purchase. This amount might vary depending on the original seller auctionexport is getting the vehicle from. If you are buying it as a non-drivable car, the shipper can book it as a non-runner and you will be charged a $200 fee for that. The full import duty on the 2009 Ford Edge is N1.3m but you can also talk to your clearing agent to get a compromised duty from Nigeria Customs.. You may end up paying N1m or N1.1m for import duty. Make sure they don't do short-payment because the vehicle may get seized eventually. @Lexusgs430 has listed most of the parts you'll need to buy.. You can get the estimated price at Ford Parts market around Clegg Street, Ojuelegba if you are in Lagos. If you are buying the parts from USA, do the junk yard. Don't go buying new parts from the dealership except for the parts you can't find out there. The reason is, that vehicle has several little bit of components.. which you have to buy one by one if you are buying the new part. The price you got that vehicle is a giveaway.. note that you may also have issues with the rear wheel/suspension especially on the driver's side (it's bent).. the vehicle also has a leaking roof problem. 33 Likes 3 Shares |

Ford parts are extremely expensive in Nigeria especially anything associated with luxury. I wonder how much you would be sold the engine? But when they say nondriveable is it because the rear axle was damaged or engine is damaged cause seems like their was no front impact Tokunbo cost around 4million or less depending on bargaining power and year this is a prefacelift 06-09 so you do the calculation we already know the value price, clearing price, do the shipping and engine and workmanship and see if its worth it 4 Likes 2 Shares |

she already bought the SUV and I guess she already made up her mind on it. she wants the vehicle here. my advice, take the mistake as a blessing in disguise. damning all expenses incurred, go ahead with sourcing the parts from the junk yard as advised. don't look at the cost any longer, just get the vehicle fixed. you may strike a good bargain on it afterwards. good luck! 2 Likes |
