You beta make plans to run away from this _shithole of a country if you know you have no one to connect you with a good job cheesy
and what does running away to another country guarantee? that there is a better world out there? most people are probably going through what we are facing here only difference is that they sometimes get what they are worth while me get under employed here

I won't go to far in giving scenarios, take a look at the hackers on the streets who stand in sun from am-pm just to make a living. Some are graduates u know??,while in dis same life u find some illetrate in some office turning 50k -50million with pen. Honestly, I wouldn't wanna argue on these things buh trust me life is a game of dice. The lucky ones get double 6 while d unlucky ones get double 1.Pray to b on the lucky side.

That some people made it through hard work dosent mean others are lazy too.

Each time someone advise me to be hardworking or wants to start with hardwork this, hard work that, I go just laugh.
If it's by hard work, then the hawkers, bricklayers etc will be the world richest na.
It's should more like work smart!

The Graduate hawkers learn't how to hawk, so they are hawking.

I know a graduate who learn't how to repair, maintain systems at computer village after school.

He now has his own shop with boys doing his business for him now.

What is the difference?

Till we drop the 1998 mentality of searching for jobs without acquiring skills to aid our hustle, we will be at the mercy of employers and the GOVT.

I hope u know acquisition of skills isn't free right??... Like my last paragraph said, "That some made it through hard work doesn't means others who hasn't are lazy, it's just the game of life.

I will not give in to emotions in my reply to you young man.
You, I mean all of you unemployed graduates still sitting at home are the cause of your problems!
YES!
You think the society owes you a well paying job with your zero work experience? LIE!
Some of you reject marketing job, you want to earn fat salaries after school. You think companies pay people for facebooking in the office? LIE!
I took a marketing job after i concluded a masters programme, and now I train those that interviewed me and plenty other wonderful and unbelievable things I can not start writing about here.
Go and start small.
If you understand the GOLD story, you will learn to humble yourself.

Its pretty much easy to talk in such manner when you finally achieve or perhaps beat the odds.. If u still find urself in d op's shoes, u wouldn't be talking like this.

Trust me, have met brilliant and bright peeps yet, they find it hard to feed. Life at times is actually a game of gamble where the lucky ones win and d hardworking ones loose

I didn't wana respond to your initial post because we aren't on the same frequency yet.

I will just make it plain with you.

A bricklayer learnt how to brick walls, what do you expect his profession to be? Is he making money from it?

A hawker knows how to hawk, do you expect him to work as the CEO of a bank?

You only reap what you sow!

If you went to school to learn only your course, then be prepared to wait for an opportunity all year long.

I will retell my story again. I know a graduate, who dropped his pride and went to learn computer repairs at Ikeja. He now owns his own shop with boys working for him!!

What do you say to that?

Think High Dear. Lamentations are for the weak heart!!

Though enervating, desperate times calls for desperate actions, Its obvious offering yourself for volunteer jobs seems to be the way out. I am currently going to offices and shops meeting the management and volunteering to work without pay, Just my transport fare and I am getting interesting offers. No shame mehn... I need a job and I boldly go out to ask for it.

How much is his phone that he used to type this long Lamentation?

How much is his monthly data sub?

I sold my first phone just to learn a course!! While others were going through sugar daddies to give them cash, I continued using a Nokia Torch just to remain in my training center.

My MUM told me "There is a way you fight for what you want in life, even the universe will be forced to give it to you".

I will be dropping this article soon.

The issue I don't feel much pity about stories like this is because, you know what you can do to change your fortunes, but you keep hoping for a miracle!!

It doesn't exist!!!

Preparation meets with Opportunity, Success is bred!!

If I ask you what kind of job would you want, I guess your answer would be "Any Job"

Read this and learn!!

Nigerian Unemployed Graduates – Any hope in the Job Market?
Before clicking that link, I had this notion: "Just another hogwash meant to get some blog visits". But, I was wrong. I particularly like the blunt tone of the writer [ may be you ] in conveying the obvious; There are no jobs in Nigeria nd the earlier we come to terms with that fact the better. To succeed in this lame economy, we need to foster skills acquision. Well done!

That's just the plain truth but then, some of these graduates really want to learn a skill or start up some but lack of fund and having no support system, yet they are been saddle with some responsibility.
For some it's just a very tough world and some are just plain lazy and unrealistic.

There is nothing like working smart (Unless you are a con person). Quote me anywhere.

Salaries are quite late in coming in now, but I know I have sacrificed a whole lot of things just to gain another skill I think might aid my bank account.

You should ginger people to take life by storm, instead of buying into their lamentation and cries!

Thanks dear. I am always passionate about such topics and it hurts me alot to see able young men lamenting online.

I have been through hell, and I wouldn't wana have a second missionary journey. The Op should take life by force. Stand up from his comfort zone, hit the streets and watch how his story would change.

Many of ur youth are the architect of their own problem. They are practically unemployable with zero skills. After blocking and cramming thru university, they pass out with wonderful degrees but zero experience or skills

Thank you so much for echoing the same thoughts with me.

I don't have any pity for any of those lamenting graduates.

Agreed, most of them were deceived into believing that their certificate alone is enough to get them to wherever they want to be in life.

The problem I have with most of them is that they still believe that lie... even after seeing the reality on ground.

This OP for example might be a very bright 2.1 university degree holder.

But if you ask him what can he do with the knowledge he has thus acquired, you may find him wanting in that aspect.

My point is:

Stop lamenting or complaining.

Get skilled.

Read business books.

Look for opportunities around you.

See if you can provide any type of service with what you already know or have.

Entrepreneurship is the way forward in our today's world.
