Where's Ndidi? But I do like your ranking tho.

Meanwhile, here's how I would rank them:

1. John Mikel Obi
2. Oghenekaro Etebo
3. Wilfried Ndidi
4. Joel Obi
5. Okechukwu Azubuike
6. Ogenyi Onazi
7. John Ogu
8. Mikel Agu

*Alex Iwobi is more of a support striker than your normal CM

O pari

I didn't include Ndidi/Agbo because de are DMFs.

I only ranked Iwobi a little lower to Etebo because he is less versatile(he can't play the CMF role) and mobile compare to Karo Etebo.

Joel obi is quick, blessed with deft touches & technical than most of our current midfielders. I have followed him from the youth team of inter milan. He is also experienced with better medals to show for it in european football. The coach choose his players & there is little or no room for him in it for now whether he is fit or not.
The team has obviously taken shape and we can easily see it. From goalkeeping department to the attack. It is just 23 players unless something serious happened to any of the regulars like the case of Carl Ikeme or Elderson at the last World Cup.

And by the way, I don't think we've seen the best of Etebo yet. That boy is baller and a worker!

Pls where is Raheem Lawal, I remember this guy pushed Onazi to RB in one of our Afcon qualifying match under Keshi.

It was Hope Akpan to the best of my knowledge. Not Raheem Lawal that displaced Onazi to the right back role but I feel Raheem Lawal deserves a place in the squad.

One thing my brother, I just stumbled on Segun Odegbami's article from 2 years ago today, and posted it here. We all know Segun's pedigree as regards his input on technical matters. Chief Segun said it all as regards Joel. Are we missing anything in midfield that Joel Obi can bring? -- definitely yes. That quick play, the only thing Mikel is lacking to some extent, he has it. They will both complement each other very well. Now that we have DMF options, Mikel need not sit back as Segun suggested. Mikel will be perfect for the CMF role, he will provide more stability there. Joel Obi with his deftness using both legs can easily offer our forwards one of the deadliest support any attack formation can boast of. We are talking world cup. We have to step up to a higher level. No sentiments, we need the best possible. A fully fit Joel Obi, will give it.

Considering the list of 23, from what we have seen so far, I think the spot for 10 players is sealed (And I'm adding Kelechi Iheanacho for his contribution so far). Of course no goalkeeper is among that 10. We need to see more of those players that have been hopping off the bench.

Zambia Coach Goes Spiritual Ahead Clash With Super Eagles In Uyo

Coach of the senior national team of Zambia ‎Wedson Nyirenda has admitted that his team need more than good tactics, if they want to beat Nigeria in their World Cup 2018 Qualifiers in Uyo.

Zambia need a win to keep the group open ahead of the final round of games, while Nigeria need a win to progress to the tournament with a game to spare after picking up 10 points from a possible 12.

Nyirenda believes his players need mental drilling to be at par with the Super Eagles, and that is one area he is focusing on ahead of the clash which will take place on the 7th of October.

He also went religious while insisting that his wards know it is their time to qualify for the World Cup as God has taken them far for them to help themselves.

“The game will be highly psychological, therefore we are working on their mental strength before the match,” the coach said on his official twitter handle.

“Every player and everyone on our bench know and believe that this time is our time. God can only show you the fish and it is up to you to fish it out.”

When you talk of displacing a player, the only destination I can think of is the bench or not making the list at all. Onazi moving to another role means other factors were in consideration. That's how I like to see it. But let me do another research on your claim.

Modified.
Hope Akpan was invited for the first time to SE for that double header versus Sudan.
He remained in the bench in the first game. Igiebor, Onazi and Mikel marshaled the midfield.

In the second game, Igiebor and Ambrose were conspicuously missing. That gave room for both Lawal and Akpan to start alongside Mikel in midfield, and Onazi was drafted to cover the RB position. So if anyone got displaced, it would be Igiebor or/and Ambrose (depending on the reason for their non-inclusion.)

joel obi when injury free and match fit is a class player better than most of our present midfielders. during siasia's first coaching stint with the national team in 2011 joel obi was practically carrying our midfield on his back when mikel wasn't pulling his weight then.

i'm just patiently waiting for joel obi to stay injury free because i'm so sure he would displace onazi

Joel Obi is a fantastic player no doubt but with respect to someone being groomed to take over Mikel, we are talking of a player having the precise balance in play and can cover a wide range of positions in the midfield, including the deep midfield role, playing as a deep lying playmaker.

I see K. Nwakali as a better fit.

Wonderful stats. The previous season, Ogu was voted the best player in Israel. But that didn't catch Rohr's attention for a reason.
John Ogu is not new to us. Let's just assume he has improved, but it's still the Israeli league. He is in the set up now. If he can't beat Agu to it, then I don't think he has any business going to Russia

With Hope Akpan, we had a shield who could protect the defence and on the right back role, Onazi looked blazing, using his work rate to cover the length of the right side of the pitch. It also helped his runs not creating much gap in the defence.

Hope Akpan's injury was one of the areas I believed stopped us from qualifying. Although Musa's misses contributed the most.

Official – Nigerian Right Back Nura Abdullahi Signs Contract Extension With Roma

Highly rated Nigerian full back Nura Abdullahi has extended his contract with Italian Serie A side Roma till the summer of 2021, the club has announced in a statement on their official website.

Nura’s current deal was set to run out in a year time, but the 20 year old who is a product of the youth team of the club, following his move from Serie B side Spezia two years ago put pen to paper on a fresh four year deal.

Although he is yet to make a single appearance for the first team no thanks to injury and fitness issues, the Football Academy Abuja graduate is widely rated as one of the best teen prospect at the club.

His contract extension was announced alongside that of three other graduates of the club academy, which brings to four the number of academy graduates who have extended their deal at the club..

Quick, strong in tackles and a good crosser of the ball, he was once upon a time on the radar of Spanish League giants Barcelona, but a minor heart defect lead to the breakdown of a possible transfer to the club.

That is why the term GROOM is used. It is not an immediate thing but a chance for the young man to train and work with one of the best midfielders the country ever produced.

This is working towards the future.

All dis one u re mentioning all d midfielders dt has played for us since 2011 till date, only 5/6 would Go to world cup and 4 places has been secured already by Mikel, onazi, ndidi and etebo except if injury set in d names mentioned above.
So if una like mention/scout 60 midfielders, dere is only 2spaces left in d midfield department to jostle for

What use is the extra spot if it will not help our future? Not all players that come to camp will play. Why not sacrifice that spot for a player who has the potential of ruling our midfield for years. We need him studying Mikel now.

FIFA Appoint Botswana Referee Bondo For Super Eagles Clash Against Zambia

Joshua Bondo has been appointed as the centre referee for the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers tie between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Zambia in Uyo.

Bondo hails from Botswana, and he will be assisted by Oamogetse Godisamang who is also from Botswana and Souru Phatsoane of Lesotho in the position of Assistant Referee 1 and 2 respectively.

The fourth official of the game Tirelo Mositwane hails from Botswana just like the centre referee, while South African Carlos Neves Henriques will act as the Referee assessor ‎.

Osama Hassan Ataaelmanan was appointed the match commissioner for the game which a win will see Nigeria progress to the World Cup, while Zambia need to avoid defeat to keep alive their hope of qualifying for the showpiece in Russia.

You’re Still In My Plans – Rohr Tells Dutch-Nigerian Defender Tyronne Ebuehi

Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has assured ADO Den Haag defender Tyronne Ebuehi that he is still part of his plans despite placing him on standby in the list of players released for the clash against Zambia.

Ebuehi was placed on standby by Rohr, same coach who convinced him to pursue an international career with Nigeria despite his eligibility to represent the Netherlands.

However the 21 year old has been unable to dislodge Shehu Abdullahi as the first choice right full back of the team, and Ola Aina switch of allegiance from England to Nigeria sent Ebuehi further down the pecking order.

Yet to be capped by Nigeria, Rohr told the full back he won’t be in the squad for the game against Zambia before the list was made public, and also explained to him that he is still part of his plans.

Rohr explained to him that he has a very bright future with Nigeria, but for the game against Zambia he won’t be considered due to tactical reasons not made known to this portal.

Friday Eze Dazzles For Konyaspor In Europa League, Bags Assist

Super Eagles hopeful Friday Eze followed up his first goal for Turkish side Konyaspor with another man of the match performance in their 2-1 Europa League win over Vitoria Guimaraes of Portugal.

Eze was handed a start after his first goal for the team last weekend in their 2-0 win over Akhisar Belediyespor in the Turkish League, and the big forward didn’t disappoint.

He showed good strength and skills to set up Musa Araz for the opening goal of the game in the 24th minute as the defenders of Vitoria Guimaraes struggled to contain him.

The only blot to his performance was the yellow card he picked up for foul play in the 61st minute of the game, before he was substituted with ten minimum left to play in the game.

His Nigerian team-mate Imoh Ezekiel was once again an unused substitute just like last weekend in the Turkish League clash against Akhisar Belediyespor.

Ex Flying Eagles Striker Alhaji Gero Stars for Oestersunds In Europa League Win

Swedish side Oestersunds continued their fine form in the Europa League by picking up their second consecutive win from as many games by beating German side Hertha Berlin 1-0.

Oestersunds got to a flying start in the competition by beating Ukrainian side Zorya 2-0 with their Nigerian striker Alhaji Gero scoring the second goal that put the game beyond the reach of their host.

Gero was rewarded with a start against the Germans, and the former Nigeria U20 striker showed his class throughout the entire duration of the game.

He lasted the entire duration of the game, and his shift both in defence and attack played a vital role in his side win against their more illustrious opponent Hertha Berlin.

The win put Oestersunds top of their group with maximum points from their first two games, despite many tipping them to be the whipping boys of the group when the draws were made.

There are roles you can easily groom. Keeper role for instance. Two of the best keeper and a young talented one for the future.

At the moment, Ezenwa, Dele Ajiboye and young Alampasu. Which makes calling Akpeyi to camp funny.

Midfield maestros. These guys make or break teams. From Xavi, Scholes, Pirlo and Zidane. They make teams reign long at the top level. This is where Nwakali falls.

After that, prolific young talents that show extreme special talents. K. Nwakali has shown this since he was called up at a very young age to train with Iheanacho's U17 team. Two years later he was captain and best player of the winning side of the U17 World Cup. That was foresight from the Garba led coaching crew.
