Is it that he didn't cut it there or what? His performance must have been abysmal, after all, he has only been there for a season

He might go to Malta or Cyprus or Iran. This guy was the most outstanding player in Nigeria and he could not cut it in sweden.

Ogu, Nwakaeme arrive for Zambia, promise the best
Fisayo Dairo September 30, 2017

Super Eagles duo John Ogu and Anthony Nwakaeme arrived the country on Friday night ahead of next weekend’s 2018 World Cup qualifier against Zambia.

Both players featured for their Israeli side Hapoel Be’er Sheva in a Europa League game away to Czech side Viktoria Plzen on Thursday night.

Ogu played from start to finish in the encounter while Nwakaeme came on as a second half substitute and scored his side’s only goal within five minutes of coming on in the 1-3 loss.

With the Israeli league on break until after the international window, both players touched down in the country on Friday night ahead of an onward journey to Uyo, Southern Nigeria.

“I’m taking the game very seriously. It’s a very important game for us. We don’t want to joke with the game,” Ogu told www.aclsports.com on arrival.

“We know it’s going to be a difficult game but we’re looking forward to it. We’re playing at home and we’re ready to give our best to win this game so as to get to the World Cup.”

The Super Eagles camp in Uyo will open on Monday morning and the duo will be among the early birds at the Eagles’ Le Meridien Hotel base. Nigeria need an outright victory against Zambia to seal a spot in next summer’s World Cup in Russia with a game to spare in November.

lol. He and his Chilean namesake are having one kind sleek understanding that would soon make Ozil be forgotten.

Alex and Alexis right? Hahaha never came to my mind. But what's up with Wenger and Alex?

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Alex Iwobi
Alexis Sanchez
Alexander Lacazette
Alexander Hleb

The Iwobi - Sanchez combination is really fast becoming a great one. I have personally forgotten about Ozil.

The area Iwobi needs to work on more is his shooting. He could have scored a hattrick yesterday. He Doesn't often have enough power behind his shots and I think that was addressed at HT break which was why he used so much force to strike that ball for him to score.

I consider Ogu a model sportsman. Despite the snubs on matchdays, he is always upbeat positive and patriotic. I hope Rohr gives him the opportunity to play someday soon.

Concerning the bolded, It is basic management principle....that is why leaders move around with their own trusted hands (from Coaches to C-suite executives). By the way, I don't live in Nigeria.

As to your challenge of naming 5 players, my response is I cant. Not because it defeats my point, but because I couldn't name more than two key players from each top team in the world. I am simply not into football that much anymore but I will cite examples from past word cup winning teams.

Aime Jacquet dropped Ginola and Cantona from his team when he took over the national team. No one who went to Euro 96 or France 98 was better in the positions these guys played. However, the team was better for it.

Romario was performing way better than Ronaldo, leading up to the 2002 WC and would have been the choice of many for the World Cup. However Scolari decided not to take him to the world cup. See this quote from Zagallo - the man who took Brazil to France 98.

"Each coach has his philosophy of work, but I would have summoned Romario," he said. "I think that his performances with Vasco da Gama mean he should have gone to Asia. "But Scolari made his choice. I respect Scolari's ideas and will be a fan cheering for success. Brazil can only grow."

Lastly, Keshi dropped Osaze, Martins and Nsofor from AFCON 2013. None of the strikers he called had a better pedigree than these three except IK Uche who was turned out to be the player with the worst returns of our forwards in the tournament.

Yes! that is why Nigeria is the best country in the world and it is made possible by genius leaders. grin

I knew you would bring up old stuffs hence my request for 5 teams.

We all know why Cantona and Giniola were dropped and it doesn't mean they would not have brought quality to the team if chosen. So, this is not the case with Kayode.

Ronaldo was better than Romario hence the need to take the best player.

Even a one legged Ronaldo is better than Romario. grin

Besides, Ronaldo was a regular and integral part of the Brazilian national team since 1994 prior to that tournament. So, it was normal to choose Ronaldo ahead of Romario. grin

This is not the case with the Nigerian national team because most of the players currently called are just new players and they are no Ronaldo. grin

They should be dropped if they are not doing well in their clubs. Simple. grin

Forget Keshi, na fluke em take win the nations cup because he even failed to qualify for two nations cups. grin

Just what I thought when I read this news early this morning. He's always ever so enthusiastic and committed even after not having played once since this campaign began. I envy his passion. Yes to your hopes cos I trust that is the hope of lots of fans.

Iorfa said he is now available for Nigeria. We will go for Felix and Torunarigha, I'm confident about that. Let's wrap up this Zambia issue. lol

That's old news, I did say donkeys ago that he just needed to wrap up his contract and he will be ready to play for Nigeria.

I prefer him as a CB than a RB he is in the mold if Sakho very strong, fast and even taller. His technical ability is not too high in my opinion but his other attributes are very good.

I will have Iwobi start ahead of Simon against Zambia. Simon is better against less tactical but physical teams like Cameroon. But against tactical and less physical teams, I will prefer Iwobi. Even Simon did not impress against the same Zambians in the first leg because Zambians are a tactical side. Iwobi performed better than Simon in that encounter and even got a goal and created some good chances. For those saying he has been poor against African teams, he struggled against physical sides, but not against less physical teams like Zambia from the south. We shouldn't use the South African game as a yardstick because the team was generally unimpressive that day. Zambia is a tactical side, not physical. Iwobi will fare better against them. It only took Ndidi's long throw and some brilliant exchange of passes from Mikel, Iheanacho, Ideye and Iwobi to unlock their defense the last time, not some kind of direct football that Simon plays.

The Zambians you saw yesterday(the one we played against the last time) you shall them no more because these are new players.

They are very rough and physical.

Yes they are very rough and physical but not coordinated, MF can hardly connect to attack. They just balloon the ball from defence upfront.

I believe by HT it will be 2-0 to Nigeria. I have had to watch their past 5 games and I can tell you for free their coach doesn't have any tactics just luck going for him.

Should we keep our focus and concentration all through, this game would end 3 goals and above.

I don't agree a team that beat Algeria home and away is not coordinated.

In the second leg against Algeria they were organized by packing the bus and attacking on counters.

They have tactics and it's all about the wing play and counter.

If you give them chance from the wings, they will win.

Park the bus against Algeria away? That defence collapsed completely. How Algeria weren't able to score still remains a mystery to me even at Lusaka against same Zambia. The defence is zero Slimani had a off day over the 2 legs even Bentaleb couldn't trap inside the 18 on several occasions.

Well they won't see wing play for sure cos Rohr must have Marshalled that out already just like Cameroon were unsuccessful with their wing play. Look at the match Zambia away and home to Algeria and tell me if they really packed any bus. Cos what I saw MF and defence collapsed completely over both legs and the stingy Algeria players who wanted self glory instead of square play.

Whoever will play our RB either of Shehu/Aina will need to be up and doing that Mwepu has got sprint to take on defenders and our LB should get complement from the MF cos of the pace of Fashion. But still I believe if we possess the MF their players upfront would just be spectators.
