Ogu, Nwakaeme arrive for Zambia, promise the best Fisayo Dairo September 30, 2017 Super Eagles duo John Ogu and Anthony Nwakaeme arrived the country on Friday night ahead of next weekend’s 2018 World Cup qualifier against Zambia. Both players featured for their Israeli side Hapoel Be’er Sheva in a Europa League game away to Czech side Viktoria Plzen on Thursday night. Ogu played from start to finish in the encounter while Nwakaeme came on as a second half substitute and scored his side’s only goal within five minutes of coming on in the 1-3 loss. With the Israeli league on break until after the international window, both players touched down in the country on Friday night ahead of an onward journey to Uyo, Southern Nigeria. “I’m taking the game very seriously. It’s a very important game for us. We don’t want to joke with the game,” Ogu told www.aclsports.com on arrival. “We know it’s going to be a difficult game but we’re looking forward to it. We’re playing at home and we’re ready to give our best to win this game so as to get to the World Cup.” The Super Eagles camp in Uyo will open on Monday morning and the duo will be among the early birds at the Eagles’ Le Meridien Hotel base. Nigeria need an outright victory against Zambia to seal a spot in next summer’s World Cup in Russia with a game to spare in November. --ACLsports 2 Likes |

daveP: Alex and Alexis right? Hahaha never came to my mind. But what's up with Wenger and Alex? Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Alex Iwobi Alexis Sanchez Alexander Lacazette Alexander Hleb The Iwobi - Sanchez combination is really fast becoming a great one. I have personally forgotten about Ozil. The area Iwobi needs to work on more is his shooting. He could have scored a hattrick yesterday. He Doesn't often have enough power behind his shots and I think that was addressed at HT break which was why he used so much force to strike that ball for him to score. 3 Likes |

tglobal: Yes! that is why Nigeria is the best country in the world and it is made possible by genius leaders. I knew you would bring up old stuffs hence my request for 5 teams. We all know why Cantona and Giniola were dropped and it doesn't mean they would not have brought quality to the team if chosen. So, this is not the case with Kayode. Ronaldo was better than Romario hence the need to take the best player. Even a one legged Ronaldo is better than Romario. Besides, Ronaldo was a regular and integral part of the Brazilian national team since 1994 prior to that tournament. So, it was normal to choose Ronaldo ahead of Romario. This is not the case with the Nigerian national team because most of the players currently called are just new players and they are no Ronaldo. They should be dropped if they are not doing well in their clubs. Simple. Forget Keshi, na fluke em take win the nations cup because he even failed to qualify for two nations cups. |

Joebie: That's old news, I did say donkeys ago that he just needed to wrap up his contract and he will be ready to play for Nigeria. I prefer him as a CB than a RB he is in the mold if Sakho very strong, fast and even taller. His technical ability is not too high in my opinion but his other attributes are very good. 1 Like |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by nelszx: 9:39am On Oct 02, 2017 |
forgiveness: Yes they are very rough and physical but not coordinated, MF can hardly connect to attack. They just balloon the ball from defence upfront. I believe by HT it will be 2-0 to Nigeria. I have had to watch their past 5 games and I can tell you for free their coach doesn't have any tactics just luck going for him. Should we keep our focus and concentration all through, this game would end 3 goals and above. 1 Like |

nelszx: I don't agree a team that beat Algeria home and away is not coordinated. In the second leg against Algeria they were organized by packing the bus and attacking on counters. They have tactics and it's all about the wing play and counter. If you give them chance from the wings, they will win. |

forgiveness:Park the bus against Algeria away? That defence collapsed completely. How Algeria weren't able to score still remains a mystery to me even at Lusaka against same Zambia. The defence is zero Slimani had a off day over the 2 legs even Bentaleb couldn't trap inside the 18 on several occasions. Well they won't see wing play for sure cos Rohr must have Marshalled that out already just like Cameroon were unsuccessful with their wing play. Look at the match Zambia away and home to Algeria and tell me if they really packed any bus. Cos what I saw MF and defence collapsed completely over both legs and the stingy Algeria players who wanted self glory instead of square play. Whoever will play our RB either of Shehu/Aina will need to be up and doing that Mwepu has got sprint to take on defenders and our LB should get complement from the MF cos of the pace of Fashion. But still I believe if we possess the MF their players upfront would just be spectators. 3 Likes |
