Oben209: Hello Oben209, To convert to percentage, follow the steps below: Step 1: Add the grade points: 4.6 + 4.3 + 4.1 + 3.8 = 16.8 Step 2: Divide the sum by 4 to calculate the average: 16.8/4 = 4.2 Step 3: This means your CGPA for the last two years is 4.2. Divide it by 5 and multiply by 100 to convert to percentage.---4.2/5 * 100. This gives 84%. 6 Likes 1 Share |

I've a question. I've a friend who says he will have to spend 1 million naira, that's almost $3,000 to apply for visa ...like visit visa or any visa to canada, from Nigeria? He said this is the cost of paying agents to process the applications to Canada and what they told him. I told him he doesn't need to use an agent but he says its better. Is this true? Are y'all spending that much to process your application to canada?? This isn't about me ooo, I'm already overseas. Just want to get a clearer picture of what he's saying. He says he doesn't want to spend that much and lose money if his application is rejected, so he's asking me to sponsor him instead. |

He probably doesn't know that Agents are not VO...lol If tuition fee is excluded, amount is subjective sir but i don't think you have to spend up to that applying for visa yourself, you may spend more using agents though, but doing it yourself will prepare you to defend yourself if the need arise. GREGORIAN:Thanks for the advice and response. I appreciate it. I will look into the possibility of getting the funds into my dads account since it's best to eliminate all reasons for TRV refusal. Do you know anyone who schools or that has schooled in LAMBTON, so I could keep in touch with the person. Lastly can I send my SOP to you in the near future for any expert review and advice. Thanks again |

muyem: Sorry to rain on the parade, he must come back home with immediate alacrity and apply, otherwise if he applies there, they are going to push it to Ghana or worst deny him based on status in country of application. If he he had a student visa in the USA, it may have been a different story. |

ayeopare:Birth certificates of your family members are not quite a home tie. Think from the VO's perspective: how many Nigerians stay abroad even though they have lots of family in Nigeria? Very very many, probably a majority! I'm not saying you shouldn't include them, but don't for one bit think birth certificates make a strong case for home ties. They don't. (The exception may be if said family members are your spouse & kids. But even in this case they aren't a magic wand.) The topic of home ties is discussed like every 20 pages on this forum -- go back and read the last 50 pages but preferably from page 0 of this part. Many applicants are denied because they treat their TRV application in a very formulaic way: put this document, put that document, etc. While documents can add value to your application, their value is minimized if they communicate only very little meaning to the VO. What the VO needs to clearly understand is why would you come back to Nigeria after your studies? Your family's birth certificates alone do not answer this question in any way whatsoever. 6 Likes |

Hello people, I'm new here. I just got an email from CIC, that I should visit a center for biometrics. I will be going to VFSglobal. My questions are; Will I need to create an application with VFSglobal, before going there, or should I just go with my docs?? Will I be required to pay any other fee when I get there? What is the experience like? Will I be asked any questions or its just for fingerprinting? Any helpful tips will be appreciated. Please help a brother!! Please forgive my naiveness, I'm a complete rookie in this. Thanks |

ayeopare:It will be very good if you show court document stating the transfer of property upon dad's demise. That is a very thick hometie for you! Siblings' birth certificates might be just 30%. #Myopinion |

Hello house. My family just got a b1 b2 usa visa laat month. Now i have not travelled yet but i want to apply for a Canada student visa which i have been denied a visit visa to canada before. My questions are 1. Is it true that i have to use my USA visa first? 2. Is it true that my husband and son will automatically be given a visit visa too? Thanks in anticipation |

Neroirab:Just go there with your international passport and the biometrics request letter CIC sent. You will also need to give them #450 for sms charge( i still don't understand this fee cos i hardly see folks getting the sms, just emails). That's all you need to get your fingerprint and photo taken. 1 Like |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by jnyuwa02: 9:50am On Oct 04, 2017 |
oyinda9: Answer to both questions is false. Having a USA visa and using it and returning to Nigeria gives the VO a proof that if you go to Canada, you will probably return too. There is nothing automatic these days about Canada and USA visa. You can have USA visa and be denied a Canadian visa. And vice versa. Put an airtight application if you want to be approved. Good luck with everything. |

I just got my application back and the only reason ticked is *Based on your application, you used an unauthorized, compensated representative. You have not provided evidence that this is an authorized representative I remember ever being sent a mail to fill the use of representative form which my uncle's agent did on my behalf How can one tackle this as no other reason was ticked And the most annoying thing is all my documents was not returned except my passport I'm on my way back home now devastated Austinpee4 bayocanny |

Holyfield1: Send them evidence they requested again, perhaps they didn't get it when you sent it to them the first time. Send to the Acrra email yourself, personally! They will reopen your case again. No need to freak out. Sober and cool minds prevail! |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by Austinpee4: 2:17pm On Oct 04, 2017 |
Holyfield1:Hmmmm. This is actually the second case i have seen on this matter. Here is the thing, CIC have listed 'authorized' representatives and how to know them on their website that applicant can use. They are considered as credible to represent you. They have a unique CIC reg number and are accredited to render immigration related services to Canada. This category of people are the ones considered as 'authorized'. This however does not mean an 'agent' cannot help you, if they have this identity with CIC, there would be no issue but because some of the agents in Nigeria don't have it, they avoid declaring it in their client's application but trust CIC, they know the 'tastes' of some of their act. This is why you were asked to fill the 'use of representative' form but your agent even cancelled it even when CIC was informed. This act automatically would mean something is fishy which could induce the decision of the officer coupled with the fact that you did not provide the evidence that the agent is authorized. So at this point, if you were welcomed to reapply, then it is good. Reapply as the primary applicant without the use of a representative(agent). This would be your viable option now. In a similar case of yours, the applicant asked for reconsideration but the Accra visa office replied with this particular line " please note, there have been no error of judgement or decision on your case. Also note that little weight is given to new information that could have been provided at the time of application because applicants are responsible to submit everything to be considered when applying. In addition, restating the information provided in the application is rarely grounds for reconsideration as it was already reviewed by the officer" So depending on the letter, your best bet is to reapply without the agent's help and must indicate this as well. 1 Like |

Holyfield1: Pm me and let's talk! You must send them an email first with the right form and/or explanation. There is a similar case here and they reopened. Don't waste your money applying again without first asking reconsideration. |

maziude: Hello Bro Pls i'm a newbie and i really really need help on this whole thing I wanna apply for an institution in NBCC - New Brunswick Community College, for Business Admistration - Management as 1st choice and Business Administration - Investment Management as 2nd choice. Tho, i have a National Diploma in OTM- Office Technology and Management 1st Class Upper @ Laspotech Isolo campus but, i haven't gotten my Certificate yet but soon sha But my huge problem is that, i don't have my Junior Secondary School (2001-2004) Credentials at hand. Only have my Senior Secondary school (2004-2007) Testimonial and School Waec Result which has bad grades. But i have a 2009 GCE result i did which has good grades at hand So where i'm confused is the place i was asked to fill in my Secondary school info on the school app form. Pls can i fill in only my Senior Sec School (2004-2007) level only? Or i must also include the Junior Sec School (2001-2004) level too? And again, if i am asked to upload my Secondary School Testimonial and Waec result + Sec school transcript which am nt sure i can get. Pls can i upload the GCE original result copy and the 2004-2007 Sec School testimonial n leave out my Sec School Waec bad result out of it? Pls ur response is needed. Thanks |
