Is Buhari’s 97% And 5% Arithmetically Correct? by nairavsdollars(f): 10:55am On Oct 07, 2017 |
Why did President Buhari Say 97 percent and 5 per cent which equals 102 percent instead the normal 100 percent? Though I don't like the statement he made which is very bias, I expect him to say 97 percent and 3 percent OR 95 percent and 5 percent....maybe they will supply another lies for this 2 Likes

Arithmetically, very correct. 97% of the total votes from a zone were in his favour while 5% of the total votes in another zone were for him. So, mathematically, the statement is very much in order. Not about the total votes he got, is more about the percentage of the total votes casted in his favour at zonal level. 12 Likes |

FTrebirth: Did you read through what I wrote? If the total votes in Abia, for instance was 100 and 5 of the votes were in his favour, that is 5%. Meaning, 5% of Abians voted him. Likewise, if total votes in Katsina was 100 and 97 was in his favour, that is 97% of the total votes in Katsina state. Accordingly, 97% of Katsina state voted him. So which additional 2% are you talking about? Do you have to be a professor in mathematics to know this simple arithmetic? Nawao! 9 Likes 1 Share |

LionDeLeo: See them trying so hard to deceive Nigerians. The presidential election was conducted in a day, Buhari was expecting 100% victory over GEJ but he didn't get that as other zones gave him 97% out of the 100% he was expecting. Due to his illiteracy (don't forget west Germany), he committed an arithmetic error by ascribing 5% instead of 3% to SE. Buhari failed all the military exams if he says otherwise, let him publish them. He is dullardddddd 5 Likes 1 Share

nairavsdollars: Listen. He said "A region that have me 97% of their own votes" versus "A region that have me only 5 % o their own votes" So, although it wasn't as bad as that in the south and it wasn't that good in the north either, he was however implying that the north gave him almost all their votes, while the south gave him just a little of their votes. Unfortunately, the OP is not versed in maths so the simple response given to him by liondeleo was still too complicated for him to understand. 6 Likes |

Let me simplify it. 97% of North Eastern and North Western votes were for Buhari. 5% of the South Eastern votes were for Buhari. If you watch the video, you’ll know what he meant. Basically if 5% of X voted for me and 97% of Y voted for me, then I’ll favor Y because I’m tribalist and I clearly belong to somebody and I don’t belong to everybody. 1 Like |

LionDeLeo: great analysis, you are 100% correct. where buhari goofed was saying 5% should not expect same treatment as 97% if he is wise his attention should be in capturing the remaining 95%. if my maize farm in daura produce well without fertilizer and my farm in otuoke did not. then its only logical for to put all machinery in otuoke come next farming season |

PointZerom: Cause I asked a question does not mean I don't know the answer. You have just displayed shear ignorance. You are even worse than the OP. According to you "we are talking about 100% of the presidential votes" That's according to you. But according to PMB, he is talking about what he received from two regions. In case you don't even know, he was strictly referring to the SE/SS. Versus the NE/NW. Where would you place the percentage from the SW and the NC if you are so eager to add them all up to make 100% ? You expect PMB to have stated explicitly that he was referring to the percentage of votes per region, but what you are too dumb to realise is that he also never stated that he was referring to the percentage of his own total votes. Now the first lady is calling you, come I want to help you find ya missing brrr ya missing brain, will you keep kwayet? Chai!! Chai!! DiarisGod o 1 Like 1 Share |

Everyone know I am not a fan Of this President But the above is not mathematically wrong What is being discussed here is the vote share per state or region and not the National vote share Vote share per state is NOT expressed as a common percentage and hence does not equate to 100% |
