It was a very stressful week for me as it involved lots of travels and all. So its a Saturday and I was paid for a project I did for the month past.

Going by my tired nature, I knew deep down me that there was no way I could have made it to church the next day and I was hell bent on paying my tithe because of the inherent blessings therein and the last thing on my mind would be to give it to my nebor to pay it for me. (The guy broke and besides I didn't want him to start calculating my take-home (Na sharp man). And I knew deep down that if I keep the money till the next time I would be in church, I was sure I would spend it. (God have mercy on me sha)

So I decided even before getting home to package my tithe and while in the market on a shopping spree I package my tithe and dropped it in the plate of an old beggar. (A mulsim beggar precisely)

Instantly, I saw 50 shades of shocks on her face as she looked at me for a few seconds and I could read her facials more like "For this Buharia?" Lols. And before I disappeared into the crowd, I could see/read her lips mutter prayers pointing towards me. And deep down, I felt blessed and fulfilled.

But was I wrong to have given my 10percent to a beggar instead of to the alter?

Opinions please.

It's people like you that are perfect Christian sheep. The Bible tells us to be aware. If the tithe is strictly used to maintain the extravagant lifestyle of the pastor, then it'd be pure insanity to keep on giving, because there are people who really need such money. I don't see how Private Jets, exotic cars, and designer wears are used to propagate the Gospel. Even the Greatest preacher ever operated without tithes and offerings.

Let's be wise please.

I don't know what I can say in conclusion to this matter. But of Satan can cause any man to disobey the Word because of what he or she hears or sees then what is the fundamental difference between that person and Adam. That is why Jesus had to physically leave earth so that folks can have faith in God. That is what Christianity is all about. Faith in God and faith in His Word.

I'm getting confused about tithe day by day. I was told that particular scripture is referring to priests/pastors. I was told they are only entitle to 10% of the titles of the church,90% are meant for the welfare of the neeey and the church.
I believe Op is wrong in sense that he might have given his tithe to a cursed beggar.
If I may ask are there blessed beggars ?

If you did follow your heart and 100 percent undisturbed by your act, you won't post it here. For the fact that you posted it means a part of you is fighting against what you did. Do you believe in tithe? Did the Bible say pay your tithe to beggars? Good work is commendable but not at the expense of your tithe- your security from the corruption of this system. YOU BETTER GO PAY THAT TITHE BACK. Don't allow people who don't understand what tithe is to mislead you.
My brother no where in the Bible was tithe given to a begger. Remember the story of the young prophet who listen to another prophet after God had given him certain instructions. Stick to God's instruction.

Thanks

Note: Your tithe is meant to be paid into a Godly assembly of Children of God; to be used in the propagation of the gospel and compassion of Christ.

i am not saying you did a wrong thing but most of those beggars don't worth it.
hope he doesn't have both legs, hands and eyes.
so that you know, some of them have built houses out of begging(it's business to them). it's a fact i know.
imagine everybody paying tithe to beggars(people will even quit job to start begging)

I would have preferred you get a mission body(CAPRO, Global Mission Board etc)

Give where it will be used rightly.
You could also enter a hospital and clear the bill of a patient who can't afford treatment (they are many)

There are people who are genuinely in need of our financial help.
they are all around us.
God bless you.

If u like to give then give from d 90% left. U gave d 10% to d poor bcus it was easy for u to do. Given is sacrificial so give from ur 90%.

Tithe is tithe. Welfare is welfare. Until you distinguish between the two you'll be doing the wrong thing.

God bless OP for his giving heart. There is a reward for what he has done.

I won't address the question of whether he is right or wrong to give his tithe to the beggar because Scriptures can be used to prove both sides and I will keep my view to myself.

What I will address is OP's belief that his feelings of satisfaction and elation are proof that he has done the correct thing.

Those are just emotions and cannot be used to judge whether one has obeyed God or not. Jesus did not want to go to the cross and prayed in agony for hours for His Father to show him another way. Yet He was born to die on that Cross.

A man who has been chasing a woman for a long time feels elation when he conquers her yet that is not a sign that he is doing Gods will.

My point is that emotions alone are no barometer for knowing Gods will.

Also let me shock you. You can go through all 4 Gospels and Acts and you will not find a SINGLE mention of Jesus or the Apostles giving money to beggars. There is only a mention of Jesus's money bag being used to help the poor in the Gospels and the same policy being carried out in Acts

If what OP did is against your God's will, then you should start questioning your God.
Y can someone you beg for prosperity still need your 10%, is that a bribe or what.

My God? Bribe?

Go get your girlfriend or wife. Stand her completely naked before you and tell her to turn around 3 times ...slowly. Look at every inch of her body, see its perfection and structural harmony ....that lovely body! Now go to the nearest art store and ask for the best painting of a naked woman they have, try to get an Italian painting and see how much it costs.

is that expensive painting better than your wife or girl. even by 1/10000000000? And yet you got all of her for free! She's yours both mentally and physically!

Surely u don't she came to by herself do u? all that beauty and perfection?

The painting was painted by a man who has a bank account your girl was created by a being who has the world in his Heaven account.

The only way you can reach is through some 'phone booths' he allows to exist on earth. He doesn't deal in cash or inract direct with to avoid doing him harm just like sport of your dead father/grandfather will never touch u in dream to avoid doing u harm. God advices you donate money for the upkeep of the phone booths where go to call him and ask help and you call it bribe?

Bro, do not pay your tithe ever again. its important. use it buy a good car but it never accepted spiritually due to the words of your own mouth.

its not an ignorant speaking, sir. I was named by a being who refused to touch me dirctly as a baby for my own good.

peace.

What are you angry about. Christianity does not force anyone to do anything. The fact that you are angry shows there is a problem. Who are you fighting with. We are trying to gain understanding by explaining what we know of the gospel. If you don't tithe it does not make you better or worse that those who do.

Bring the tithe into my house so that there may be food (in my house). Try me in this says God whether I will not open the windows of heaven.

Someone is saying foodstuffs. I am asking, where are the windows of heaven located. On the top floor or ground floor.... are they casement windows or louvred windows..... all these are figurative texts to explain a detailed process. The bible has its language. You have to be familiar with it to understand.
I don't see any anger anywhere.

When people like you don't want to see reasons in others opinion, you turn petty and make it look like someone is fighting you or the gospel......my brother, keep an opened mind.

Thank God you said the bible has its own language, maybe you should ask for discernment of the Spirit Of God so that you'll understand the language of the holy bible instead of understanding the language of your pastor and every other beneficiaries of the TITHE.

If you remember, the reason for this thread is because a faithful gave his tithe to the poor and homeless. As far as am concerned he got the best reward because God Is Not An Hypocrite.
If you think he did it wrongly, I'll suggest you go and reevaluate your FAITH.

Have a beautiful day sir.
