I hail the great ladies and gentlemen of this thread. Please I need a little info about this.... I'm still an undergraduate (currently in my 400) and studying Chemical Engineering. I aspire for a first class degree. So my question is.. what are the opportunities and benefits a first class degree holder can get when the time comes for processing visa and studying Masters in Canada.. Pls help me out as this will also help boost my morale in the need to attain this degree and also need the info for early preparation. Thanks a billion for your concern 1 Like |

Nellybobo: As a first class graduate, there are a myriad of scholarships available to international students from Canada's universities. With the right fine tuning writing a compelling statement of intent and research proposal, there are many universities in Canada waiting to swing wide open their gates for you. As for the visa application, the 800 pound gorilla in the room, it's a leveler. Everyone has to meet the same requirements of financial and home ties. I have seen some first class, fully funded graduates rejected for a visa. But if you continue to stay and keep abreast to this forum, I am pretty sure you will learn fast when it comes to the visa application time, how to make the odds work in your favor. Like what to say to the VO in your statement of explanation, how to assemble a winning portfolio in general. 3 Likes |

jnyuwa02: Good talk bro, How does one tackle travel history when fully funded by a canadian uni. It bothers me when a friend of mine visa was rejected after securing $20,000cad at University of saskatchewan. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by jnyuwa02: 9:09am On Oct 10, 2017 |
Phocusjosh: That is scary stuff. I will advice he defer to September 2018 and refire with a powerfully written SOE that talks about his vision for Nigeria. He should talk about any volunteer work he has done in the past or projects he has undertaken in Nigeria that show that this vision he describes for Nigeria are not empty aspirations. Simply no other way than this to defeat travel history since he has never travelled before and shown that he returned to Nigeria. |

hadeytee:That means your request letter came ages ago.....report a technical issue showing when you got the request to do biometrics and also attach the letter showing it has expired. |

Hello, I submitted my app(online) on 28 Sept and did my bio-metrics on 3rd October, however myCIC account still displays: "We need your fingerprints to process your application. Check your messages below for details." and "Your Action Is Required" Is that normal? |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by jnyuwa02: 10:42am On Oct 10, 2017 |
yeahkim: Congrats in arrears! When they ask for another letter of admission, it's most likely an approval that is imminent. Send them the prior medicals you did, perhaps they didn't get it before. Perhaps yours was an upfront medicals, I know there has been a few hiccups in the past with the hospital sending it to CIC, but that has always been accepted and corrected when the applicant or the hospital resends the result to CIC informing them that one has been sent before. Then tarry no longer in convening a new LOA from the institution and emailing it to CIC. Best! 1 Like |

Phocusjosh: Travel history only? Travel history is usually ticked alongside other reasons such as purpose of visit, family ties and co. Travel history is rarely a stand-alone reason for rejection. Many people have gotten Canada study permit as first time travelers. Cc: Jnyuwa02 1 Like |

Mandoy: What is your application status saying ? Has a final decision been made without review of Eligibility ? |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by jnyuwa02: 10:52am On Oct 10, 2017 |
GlitteringStar: A majority of rejections for travel history are coupled with purpose of visit and ties in home country. But that is not to say travel history cannot be a stand alone reason for rejection. That said, I doubt that someone fully funded will have purpose of visit ticked against him/her. In this case, given every case is different, travel history stand alone as a reason for rejection, is possible. Yes many have gotten approved without ever having travelled, but they most likely cleared the hurdle of convincing the VO that they would return to their homelands. Maybe this particular fully funded candidate grew over confident and neglected to do that. |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by Nobody: 11:18am On Oct 10, 2017 |
jnyuwa02: Lol@bolded I understand your point. I used the purpose of visit, family ties and co as examples. I'm not saying he was refused based on those reasons. I know it is possible for someone to be rejected solely because of "travel history" but it is an uncommon situation which is the reason why I used the word "rarely". 1 Like |
