Moadejimi: You didn't answer the question. Prior to your denial when you ordered your GCMS notes, did it say eligibility passed? If no, then Abiodunne's case cannot be like yours. Yes, all the mail you send are stored in your GCMS notes, so folks avoid sending them mails too much, it may convey you as too desperate and lead to a denial. |

Igbouwanile:yeah, I remember. There was no concrete reason stated on the Gcms note, only reason for refusal and the messages I sent when the application has passed normal processing time |

jnyuwa02: I indicated full scholarship. I even explained the scholarship extensively in my LOE. The scholarship comprised of Teaching Assistance though! But it still doesn't make sense at all! |

Miles490: These Embassy people are very funny. If they don't want people to study in their country again, they should say it outrightly, instead of raising people's hopes |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by jnyuwa02: 8:59am On Oct 12, 2017 |
McOsheBaba: How much TA money did you get? How much free money? And how much where you expected to contribute from personal funds? What was your SOA balance from your own personal funds? Because I have also seen them wanting people to show that if they are unable to fufil the terms of their scholarship, they have enough personal funds to take care of their own education. Such tyranny by CIC. |

McOsheBaba: Am so sorry for the outcome of your study application.... However, apart from the full scholarship you got, did you also put another sponsor in your application and did you put your own bank statement in your application? |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by McOsheBaba(m): 9:04am On Oct 12, 2017 |
matic12: Yes na. I put my own bank account of about 700k. Uncle's own of over 5M. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by jnyuwa02: 9:12am On Oct 12, 2017 |
McOsheBaba: Now I can see why. Not enough money to sponsor your education in Canada should you God forbid default the terms of your scholarship. |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by OmalichaUC: 10:26am On Oct 12, 2017 |
Mandoy:So so sorry @Mandoy. I must say this is painful! It broke my heart. The best is on its way. God will compensate you will something better. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by jnyuwa02: 10:28am On Oct 12, 2017 |
McOsheBaba: Because scholarship in Canada is needblind. Meaning scholarship decisions are made based on merits, and not who needs them. You can have a million dollars to your name and still get slammed with tonnes of free money if you have good grades and write something in your essay and thesis proposal that the school really likes. And the poor man is sent away empty if he cannot roll with the big boys in the academic circle. But I agree with you in one sense, requiring people with full scholarship to document their own money too for their education, is new policy I observed from CIC. It borders on pure tyranny! 4 Likes |

Guys, please I need an answer to my question. Experienced guys here , help out. I don't have 3.0 CGPA requirements for MSC in Canada, what is the other route I can follow? Graduate diploma ,does it lead to MSC admission in Canada, as we have here it here in Nigeria? Thanks . |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by jnyuwa02: 11:04am On Oct 12, 2017 |
001ng: Some schools will waive a low GPA if you can show 2 or 3 years of work experience in the field you are applying. Heck, some schools will even accept you with no degree at all, if you can show compelling circumstances and experience. PGD is not a guarantee for MSC admission, but it surely helps. Some schools offer Foundation Studies leading to acceptance in some of their programs, but they don't guarantee anything, you will have to apply and pass through the MSC admission process like everyone else. Completing the Foundation Studies and PGD though, gives you some bragging rights during the admission process and GRE and GMAT are waived in many schools, if you complete the stated programs. I must attach a caveat however, PGD prospective students applying for visa in Nigeria face a much tougher time than masters students in getting visa. So you might want to dot your i's and cross your t's wisely. I often advice people to try and get into a masters program and go for PGD only as an absolutely last resort. |

jnyuwa02:Thanks . Example of such school? |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by jnyuwa02: 11:27am On Oct 12, 2017 |
001ng: You can't expect to be spoon fed every information. Go do the needful due diligence for yourself. Make google your best friend. When I was doing my own research, I found some schools that invoked their own discretion to accept people with no bachelors degree or a low GPA if work experience is shown. Some had expensive tabs or deadlines that did not fall within the parameters of what I was looking for. Go find them, do your research, read up, they are there. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Moadejimi: Ok let the guy relax, they probably punished him by making him wait this long for a year because of his incessant enquiries. I think at a point they ignored him totally. He is even lucky he didn't get the desperado label tagged on him. Your call now for him to ramp up his fasting and prayers is not the way to go as his case is quite different from yours. He is a ticking approval waiting to happen as his eligibility says he has passed. It's time for feasting and thanksgiving not food deprivation. 1 Like |

jnyuwa02:Thanks for your contributions so far. I didn't ask you to spoonfeed me, I asked that question to know if you have one handy. I have been doing my research here for sometime now, all I do see is this 3.0 cut off. Asking for an example is not a bad one. 1 Like |

I just picked up my passport. I was refused based on purpose of visit only. Other reasons: your proposed studies are not reasonable in light of one or more of: your qualifications, previous studies, employment, level of establishment l, or your future prospects and plans. BEng Civil Engineering (Water resources engineering option) 2013 GPA: 2.2 NYSC 2014 I've been working as a Project Manager from 2015 till date for a Private firm. PGC- Project Management - Algonquin College Paid for first semester Dad's SOA- 13M Personal SOA- 1.6M SOP - from what I've read here, I didn't explain much. Anyways, I have requested for my GCMS. I'll wait to know what to address. |

McOsheBaba:Sorry about the outcome of your application. Quite unfortunate really. I can only see few things that MAY have raised the officer's doubt about funds 'AVAILABLE'. Like you already know, an applicant MUST have 'sufficient and AVAILABLE' funds to cover tuition and living expenses for the first year. I stressed the available because i noticed you mentioned a TA and a 3rd party sponsorship. The yearly stipend you will be having from the school will be under some terms and condition which can be defaulted even before you complete the first semester which may leave you without funds during your first year. Secondly, 5m in your uncle's account does not mean you have access to it since he is a 3rd party. 700k is the funds you actually have access to. So with a likelyhood that a TA funding leaves you with a 50:50 chance of AVAILABLE funds, a 3rd party sponsorship and a 700k personal funds, there is so much to raise a reg flag on regarding AVAILABLE funds for tuition and living expenses which is the angle that is considered. Here is what i propose if you decide to reapply again. 1. Have your uncle transfer atleast your living expenses fund to you. 2. Increase your personal funds to say 1m 3. Provide an affidavit of sponsorship of your uncle. 4. Do not try to explain too much about the funding you have. You can't understand their educational system more than them. They know already, the more you try to explain things, the more their eyes is raised to why you are particular about bringing their attention to it. Remember, they are looking for things under the covers, you will be helping them uncover them if you do. 5. Get your GCMS note. Regards bro. 7 Likes 2 Shares |
