Being their first MRAP doesn't mean it can't be the best out there.

You know how much effort has been put in place before finally out? Being their first MRAP, Proforce might have concentrated on protection. Protection alone doesn't make up a MRAP. So obviously, they may have the protection as claimed.

So it's all about common sense. I don't know much about guns/bullets but the concept of being the first trial means you can't be the best is wrong.

In protection, the ARA MRAP can actually withstand that as claimed by the manufacturer even tho its proforce first.

I hope you all know proforce is an armoring company

An armoring company definitely knows more about penetration than you.

As you honestly claim, you don't know much about guns/bullets smiley. If you did know a bit about them (wouldn't even need expert knowledge), you would understand what Proforce is saying.

All am saying is, if you consider yourself as an expert to falsify proforce claim then an armoring company with experts who have the actual fact of the vehicle is right.

The claims of the PROFORCE ARA MRAP withstanding up to 23mm could be true if the 23mm bullet is fired at a certain distance eg 2km and above. In that case, almost almost all MRAPS have a surviving chance at that distance.

I want you to get this straight, it wouldn't survive a 23mm at less than 200m which is the distance where most ambushes occur.

Just to add some little information.

With a single layer of armour, you're likely to withstand 7.62mm. A vehicle like the Ratel had some extra front plate for 14.5mm protection. A vehicle like the Denel Badger has modular armour plates around (which envelope the V-hull) with about 3 layers of armour (with a buffer zone on the outer layer and second) that is why it can withstand up to 30mm of armour piercing rounds.

The ARA has a single layer which I'll put it at 7.62 mm or so of protection.

It can withstand above 14.5mm rounds and up to 23mm.

Watch video from 3 minutes - 6 minutes, vehicle armour for the MRAP is explained. We currently have the best MRAP in Africa in terms of protection. No vehicle comes close.

It is not for you to provide an explanation for any of the retards who have made inconsequential comments. The primary material used for the armour of the ARA MRAP is "Dynemma". A bit of research of the material would show you why this currently is the most protected APC in service in Africa.

Again, an insignificant opinion is of no value, the Nigerian Army has ordered it, the Guinea military is also interested. Random comments from random individuals from South-Africa is utterly meaningless.

The above post is utter rubbis.h for anyone who comes here to learn anything. What happened is the above fellow is so proud of this MRAP that the part of his brain that deals with logic switches off when Proforce opens its mouth.

For those interested, do a 30 second google search and see where this magical "Dynemma" material is used. Then the accountant above says its the "primary" material used on ARA......at that point it should sink in, that he has zero clue what he's talking about.

To put things into simple perspective....bullet on the right is a 50 caliber round (12.7 mm) which very few things on Earth can stop. The round on the left is a 20 mm round, smaller than the delusional 23 mm which Proforce is dreaming of. And then people cry tears when they are made fun of.

Such a claim would be breaking news in the defence industry. The likes of Jane's Defence would be rushing to Nigeria 1st thing Monday morning to publish articles if this was true.

Mistake you're making is assuming everyone here is an accountant. You already admitted you don't know much about bullets/guns....so when you type "has stanag 1 level protection" you are literally just typing letters without even knowing what you're saying grin grin

I don't know much about guns or bullet doesn't mean some little things can't be realized. You know you once made mention of where you work here? It's not like you work as a technical engineer in an armoring company to know better than a manufacturer.

To be sincere, a CPL holder knows more about a 747 than Kevin McAllister.

My own take on this is that without any fact, you can't contradict a manufacturers specifications. Integrity is needed in a business , knowing how many orders are in stake.

You mean the claim of withstanding 23mm is ridiculous?

I'm specifically quoting Mr Henry, since he never makes things up. In his words..."from 14.5 mm up to 23 mm. A quote from him, is a quote from Proforce.... since that's where he gets his facts.

Watch the video and stop talking nonsense you fool!

I have no time for niceties, your display of internet stupidity or any form of tomfoolery.

It was clearly stated that it can withstand AA rounds, what caliber is an AA round?

rounds(Sound quality was fcking sh1t though)........then the rest of his band wagon hopped one"but Stanag 4, but its stanag 4" not realizing it was referring to mine protection not ballistic protection.
