Sadiq for Qatar 2022

So, if Sadiq scores more goals than Onyekuru, Kelechi Iheanacho, Kayode Olanrewaju, Osimhen and Tammy Abraham, he is not eligible for the 2018 World cup, ba? shocked

What is the criteria for invitation to the national team?

Emmm High Chief, we are not begging, we are only wooing.

Several countries have done same in the past. Leonel Messi for eg would have been playing for Spain today if Argentina had not made that move.

Mind you, we only go for players that will add value in departments that we need fortification and not every di-ck and Harry. We recently acquired Ola Aina and we will attempt at Tammy Abraham. If we don't get him we move on. But let it be known that we made the attempts so future generations will not place curses on the NFF for missing out on him in case he turns out like another Dele Alli.

I don't go for every foreign born, only those that we need. We need Abraham for Russia.

Praise... Praise... Praise da Lord! Ha... Ha..hallelujah!

For he has turned born again overnight and is now singing a new sange. grin

Hope the status quo remains the same in future dealings. grin

How can he score when he's not playing? And how can he play when he is up against the most wanted striker in the world called Belotti?

My point is, if he plays and scores more goals than Onyekuru, Kelechi, Tammy, Kayode and Osimhen then he deserves to be called into the SE before the world cup.

So, you people should stop bringing down players for your own preferred players.

precisely correct, all those secondary school football tourneys are dead and buried. It is only in Nigeria that such happens, in 2008 I think, we were preparing for the NNPC games, the coach said that they check weight, 60kg maximum(so a kid who is muscular is already out of the games), I was 65 at first but after running up to 5km every morning for two weeks, even Mark Henry would slim down. Then the actual football came, private school, we were all very tall with long limbs, as at then I was 1.85 but was it my fault that my gene is a tall one? But they came and told us that the height limit was 1.67(?) or something even more ridiculous than that. Back then football was still not a big thing and the only means of development was through such secondary school football tourneys, but in a situation where you remove a kid just because he/she is too tall or too muscular does not make sense and academies in Nigeria aint helping out, they only develop the football skills of the kids but education wise they do nothing and they don't even give you enough time to read your books or attend classes elsewhere.

Grassroot football is dead, it died a long time ago. Our academies are not well equiped to train future stars, some of them are hardly educated, how will they understand coaches and highly technical terms?
Honestly we need to go back to d basics and get things right.

As u said in most academies they just teach them d game but education out of it which is not good coz no parents w take his kids to such academy.

Pls look at Great Britain at Atlanta 96 we are better off,see their performance at Rio for God sake.

I am remember how Segun Odegbami single handedly financed Chioma Ajuwa training prior to Atlanta 96.He got a coach for him,pay her hotel bills and make sure d lady was comfortable and what was d result a gold medal at Olympics.

We just need to start rebuilding instead of politicising everything, thanks to Amaju for having d vision and i believe with necessary support d guy w change d face of Nigeria football.

quick question, Ik Uche in top form, Martins in top form, Ighalo in his present form and Nacho in his present form, which two strikers would you rather take to the world cup?

Are you wishing Sadiq bad luck because you prefer another player?

Which new song?

Did I not clamor for Iwobi?

The difference is I don't go after every d!ck and Harry player because he was born in Europe. I only clamor for those that can add value.

I have recognized a lack of depth in our attack and so we are in a dire need of quality strikers. If Ihenacho and Ighalo were leaving up to expectations wetin for concern me with Tammy?

Pinnick is working. People just want to be heard when they fear they have lost relevance. Trying to get Nigerian players who can add something to the team at the moment and improving our grassroots development program are two different things -- Apples and Oranges. Make your point without condemning our fine efforts. Alaba wanted to play for Nigeria. It's dumb to have ignored him with the excuse of focusing on homegrown talents.

Europe's high coefficient have benefited Poland on this one. When was the the last time Poland qualified for the World Cup to deserve being seeded?

You're are talking about Alaba in retrospect and with the benefit of hindsight.
If you were in position to select U17 players for the World Cup, will you have honestly in good faith selected a 14yr old playing for his local team in Aspen to represent Nigeria at the time? Recall, we have always won the U17 world cup with homegrown players.

Sorry o am not getting your point

My own point of view is totally different from yours,my view on grassroots development does not negates adding good foreign born players to d team.

Am looking to a stage where we w not care whether u play for us or not and it can only happen if we get things right from grassroots.

Diego Costa is a Brazilian but playing for Spain,i don't think Brazil care about him,Owen Hargreaves has every right to play for Germany but when he opted for England do they care,David Trezeguets opted for France instead of Argentina but Argentines did not make any fuss about it.

My point is simple I want Nigeria to reach d level of football development where we w not care about players born by Nigerian parents playing for another country unless they are Messi or Ronaldo.

Pls read my comment very well and try to understand, may be from where i comment on Onigbinde post.

Even, with the best grassroots program, we might have cause to reach for better players with dual citizenship. That is just the truth.

In recent times, Nigeria has not struggled to have young players abroad in decent leagues but we still have gaps in our team especially in the defence. If a Nigerian with dual citizenship can do the job , why not?

Our league is poor so we need to improve that. But even with necessary investments in the league, we will still chase a quality acquisition if necessary. The MLS is heavily invested in, yet the US gets players with dual citizenship playing abroad.

We do not need to chase everyone. Only those who have shown great potential.

The FIFA rankings surprise me too. I still don’t understand how the complex coefficients work. Poland’s last WC appearance was in 2006.

Every year, we lose half of the team whenever MRI tests are carried out on the under 17.

It happened in 2013, 2015 and 2017. Fortunately, we were still able to present decent teams in 2013 and 2015.

Too many people willing to cheat to get into the team.

Even if we start a structured under 17 league, you can guarantee that half of the players are older. Not every team can afford MRI scans. With no data, the system can easily be cheated.

Advantages of foreign born players include

I.good foundations, they are very well taught.
Ii. Right age

You know that barring injury challenges, they can play for Nigeria for a long time.

Usually, by the time a talented locally born player is discovered, he is already old, can not learn new tricks.

A player like Pius Ikedia was predigiously talented, if he got the right grassroot training, perhaps he could have been like an Overmars.

When our players go abroad, they often have to unlearn things.

Grassroot development also needs quality coaching. We do not have it. At least, not at a big enough scale.
