.

September 18, 2017

.
If you are a defense of military enthusiast and live in Africa, you must have come across the million dolllar question. "Who is the Best, strongest or most powerful military in Africa?", well lets settle it here... without mincing words and wasting your precious time.
.

The Egyptian military (Army, Air Force, Navy) ranks number 1 in Africa.
.
Let me expain.
.

OVERVIEW: (Egyptian Military Strength)
The Eygptian Military complex is so massive and huge that it is probably out of Africa's standard. The Egyptian Military is responsible for the overall defense of Egypt and it's interest. It consist of:
1. Egyptian Air Force
2. Egyptian Navy
3. Egyptian Army
4. Egyptian Air Defense Force.

.

It was established in 1922 and it's headquaters is located in Cairo the country's capital. The Egypian military has currently have its Active personnel at around 438,500 troops with a further 480000 reserved Personnel making it the 12th largest in the whole world.
It has a budget of more than USD $6 Billion which the United States provides USD $2 Billion in aid yearly. This account for a 3.4% GDP in the countries annual budget.
The Egyptian military has fought many wars since its establishment which includes but not restricted to:
World War II
1984 Arab-Israeli War
Egyptian Revolution of 1952
Yom Kippur War
Tripartite Aggression
North Yemeni Civil War
Six Day War
Nigerian Civil War
War of Attrition
War on Terror
First Libyan Civil War
Second Libyan Civil War
October War
Libya-Egyptian War
Gulf War
Egyptian Revolution of 2011
Sinai Insurgency
And a host of other lesser conflicts.

.

The Egyptian military also participate in a lot of Military and Defense related exercises (MILEX) such as 'Bright Star'.
The Egyptian Military is supplied by various countries which includes but not restricted to:
United States
Russia
France
China
Italy
United Kingdom
China
Brazil
e.t.c.

.

Egypt Military is the fulcrum that ties the stability in the region since Egypt is highly respected by all country in the Middle East and Europe by both allies and foes. The Egyptian Military is the Strongest in all Arab states and Africa and although not a NATO member, its remains a very valuable partner to that organisation.
The Egyptian military has considerable influence in the country because it has alot of control in th countries politics, economics, business, infrastructure, manufacturing, real estate and others.

.

Egyptian Army
The Egyptian Army is the Best, Strongest and Most Powerful Army in all of Africa due to its immerse size in terms of equipment and manpower. Although it still uses conscript which serve for between 12 and 36 months and at the age of between 18 and 30, but the conscripts are very professional and highly trained with most of them having attained various university degrees.

I know kikuyu1, mikeCZA, and 61mech have views on this:
it is way past time to retire Grandad's WW2 Ma Deuce. Hell, even the little Hornet can carry the 20mm GA-1. Get rid of the Browning and mount the GA-1 on all our combat land vehicles - Geckos, Hornets, Mambas and Casspirs (I know the GA-1 is WW2 vintage also, but as patches689 says, it's all about the dakka) grin grin grin.

I can't wait to see the Inkunzi Strike - at 13 kg and 85 cm, smaller and lighter than the Browning; automatic belt feed firing 350 round/minute of the innovative 20X42mm round in HEI, SAPHEI, etc - mounted on the Hornet.
The decision not to arm to or use the A109s as gunships like their predecessors killed the GAMA? As the Rooivalk was heading for service at the time.

In my opinion the SASFB should have adopted the GAMA. The design philosophy is similar to the NTW-20 but able to fire 12,7 x 99 mm, 20 x 82 mm, 14,5 x 114mm, 20 x110mm and 20 x 102mm ammunition. MORE DAKKA

The GA1 fires the 20 x 82mm round. Was designed in the 1930s.

The GAMA should be taken out of the deep freezer and pressed into service with the SASFB. It will replace the old Ma deuce and the GA1.

Or As defence forces accross the continent are getting more professional and increasing their pools of specialists more specifically on the light infantry and special operations. The defence force should convert one of the motorized battalions into a light rapid response battalion to relieve and support the paras.

Able to respond to raiders or enemy special forces operating in the rears. An excuse to equip them with the CSIR Light tactical vehicle and other cool stuff. grin grin grin grin

This response leaves me cold. As I've always said, we post here as individuals. I was perplexed at the individual voters in Imo State who elected, and dare I say, continue to support a governor who pulls such stunts as honouring Jacob Zuma.
I am encouraged by the many respondents here who've objected to iblawi's crude collectivist smear of individual Nigerians who happen to share some traits with the clown who currently governs Imo State.

Hopefully, this enlightened posture will endure and be applied when the usual charlatans seek to deviously escape individual accountability by portraying particular contretemps as generalised nationalistic conflicts i.e. a random couple who happen to possess Nigerian passports disagreeing with me being portrayed as "Nigeria vs South Africa".

What can I say, I'm just an naive Afro-optimist!

P.S. iblawi, mate, that "apology" insults everyone here.
You think we were joking when we said things go the other way round here? Some try to claim he insulted Nigeria as a whole but they forgot they should be the one apologizing to me for election a dummy who has been embarrassing over 192 million Nigerians (recent statistics). They hardly even condemn his actions but when you attack them they give you excuse of one Nigeria, when they achieve something they credit it to themselves. I wasn't happy with the apology too but I just had to allow some people sleep at night. That statue would have been pulled down if it was in another region.

Let's just let it go so that this tread won't burn down. I know you are really pained that Zuma could get such recognition that even Mandela didn't get at a go here despite his relationship with Nigeria.

When you say "No offense" make sure you at least know what the fvck you're talking about, otherwise you look like a ret@rd.

Firstly I didn't say it was plagiarism(didn't even mention the word), I said the judging by the title the 2 articles have a lot in common.......Which obviously they do since it revolves around the same subject.

Speaking of medium-lift helicopters, in 2025 we'll have to replace our 39 Oryx. We missed a trick by closing the production line and selling the un-used Puma air frames which could've formed the base for Oryx2. As it is, our current Oryx is on par with the latest Airbus H225M. With budgets being as niggardly, we won't afford the H225M.

2 choices really: new Mil Mi-17s which we would have to modify for African conditions (as we did with the Puma); or used Black Hawks which we'd also need to similarly modify.
Personally, I'd plumb for the slightly used carefully-chosen UH-60.
Any man who mentions the Mi -17 as a potential replacement of the Oryx should be charged with blasp..hemy, executed and his ashes fed to pigs.

The H225M should replace the Oryx in dribs and drabs while a local version is developed based on the H225M with feedback from the air force operating the aircraft.

Maybe a V-280 Valor type aircraft in the future.

Denel all ready has experience with the mi17, it carries a lot and with the right modification would be perfect. O ly issue is that the modification to both African proof and westernize the systems and logistics would cost a lot.

Personally I say go proper let's get the merlin.

Point me to atleast 60 igbos who have actually praised or shown support for the mess rochas is creating in IMO state.
You are such a disgrace to your well cultured tribe with deep rooted sense of respect and tolerance.

No Russian equipment please. I dislike them with passion, the Russians can't design nice looking things.

We rather get Uncle Sam... By the time those Oryx start falling off the sky, there'll be a new administration in power and probably the economy would have improved to increase the military budget. If you think about it, the only guy who was into Russia was JZ.

I'll register the naming rights with CIPC, don't steal it.

Thanks, never knew France also has some overseas territory.

However without Chad, Cameroon and others they won't be able to do much in projecting power if they have to depend on their overseas territory in Africa.
