only a blind man will blame ndidi amongst those for Leicester woes...

please sir goodjoe what do you think about this Argentina tie

I will like to praise the NFF for their bold step in organizing this game. It shows we are ready to make strides to improve and I hope we have more high profile games after this.

I doubt Rohr will give it a go and so expect the same set-up we used against Zambia.

People think Argentina is poor because of their challenging run in the qualifiers. However, I see different. They are coached by Sampaoli who coached Chile in the last World Cup and Copa America.

His system requires adjusting and I feel that was what held the Argentines back. With their last performance, it shows they are getting to understand the system and I see an upward trajectory in the performance index of the Argentines.

We are going to meet a tough Argentine team that will test us. They will come at us with full intensity. We can contain them but the game is titled towards the Argentines.

Swansea City Expert Warns Leicester : Be Wary Of Tammy Abraham

Swansea City Expert Warns Leicester : Be Wary Of Tammy Abraham
Chris Wathen, Chief Football Writer for Wales Online, has shared his thoughts on Saturday's Premier League meeting between Swansea City and Leicester City at the Liberty Stadium.

Looking at the strengths of the Swans, Wathen has named Nigerian wonderkid Tammy Abraham as the most dangerous player on the team, with the Chelsea loanee scoring eighty percent of the goals netted by the Welsh outfit in the Premier League so far, four from eight games.

''Abraham has been very much a bright spark with four goals in eight games. He is somebody who has a bright future in the game,'' Wathen told lcfc.com.

''You feel there is more to come from the likes of Renato Sanches, too, who joined on loan from Bayern Munich, rather surprisingly.

''They have kept a lot of clean sheets and there are good foundations in place.''

Nigeria internationals Ahmed Musa, Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi are in contention to travel to Wales for the match day nine fixture.

Plus I wonder why that final was played at the Agege stadium?

Why not the Nest of champions? or National stadium Abuja? What of the new Adokiye stadium in PH?

Or they didn't want to give Akwa united the home advantage in Uyo? What ever happened to fixing the venue of the final right from the kickoff of the competition? Chelsea played Bayern at Alienz Arena in UCL final a couple of years back.

That final game was a poor publicity of the NPFL and Nigerian football as a whole.

Why Three Lions Of England Want A Friendly Game Against Super Eagles Of Nigeria

October 20, 20170168

An explanation on why the senior national team of England approached ‎Nigeria for a friendly game sometimes around next year as part of their preparations for the World Cup in Russia has been unravelled by Owngoalnigeria.com editorial team.

History shows that England have faced five African countries in the lasyt seven World Cup tournaments since they faced Morocco in the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, and there are possibilities of drawing another African nation this time around as they are in Pot 2, while African nations are mostly going to be in Pot 3 and 4 during the draws in December.

England have also not fair too well against African nations at the World Cup as they have only two wins from five games against African nations, ‎and both wins came against Tunisia in the 1990 and 1998 World Cup, where they beat the North Africans 1-0 and 2-0 respectively.

Since then they have failed to pick up wins against Nigeria ( 0-0 in 2002), Algeria (0-0 in 2010), and they recorded same scoreline against Egypt at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico.

Furthermore England are desperate to face a different opponent especially one from Africa in their build up to the World Cup as it will help them have a different feel than most of their games, where they have played against either European or South America teams.

The best post from you IMO!
Good job

Friends, Countrymen, Nairalanders!!! (Hmm, this my sloagan greeting no go cause wahala)

English premiership is the most watched league in the whole world ... but also highly over rated and overhyped. Yeah I said it!
Enough of all the noises we make about EPL. If they were that good, EPL teams will be thrashing fellow giants like barca or Juve every chance they get. In fact it will be a miracle if any of the so called top 4 reach quarter final stages of the UCL.
That said, whether someone plays in an obscure league, backwater league, front water league or moon league, as long as there is talent/quality inherent in them, I dont think its supposed to matter.

Let us stop thrashing people based on where they play. I feel its wrong. I mentioned sometime ago, we are all Nigerians and desire better lives or should I say better living conditions hence any opportunity away from home is siezed seeing that the Country has abandoned its duties to its citizenry. Lets ask ourselves between playing for Enyimba of aba and FC NoName in Turkey, which will you choose? I see us thrash our players a lot but the truth is if we were presented with such options I am not sure we will choose differently.

We have no leg to stand on. Until we take sports seriously and not only that; every sphere of Nigeria, things will always stay the same. We build monuments that we cannot maintain, we cant even plan upgrading the infrastructures we have. No plans as to making sports a career for youths. Everyone wants to go to school, graduate with 1st class so he can rub it in for his neighbor that scored 2nd class lower. We all want to live in Lekki, Banana island, Eko atlantic and so on , forgetting the vast undeveloped lands in Ijebu Ode, akure, Benin, Kwara, and the East.

We focus on how people see me than how the country fares. We super selfish. I remember the rich used to live in Dolphin estate back then. I passed by the same dolphin a couple of months back and I almost puked! What does that say? All the stuff we think are important now are all junk! Human lives matter. Build lives and build people, then we have a robust nation. But if all we ever think about is how to have a mansion in Abuja or Banana Island so we can be with the creme de la Creme, I am afraid, it just wont cut it.

Sports today is huge business and frankly an avenue to build careers for younger generations. In some countries like South Africa (they also have their problems too. ) Their varsities have soccer teams. They dont have to wait for their own version of NUGA games before they play. The ones that excel sometimes get into the league as well. They play hockey tourneys, they have swimming competitions etc. What is worse is that they arent as talented as we are in Nigeria but they are working at it. What are we doing?

Were it not for the murder case on Oscar Pistorious, the dude is a legend in south Africa. If it were in Nigeria, na wheel chair candidate. Let us put more value on the human life, value on what we do, be it MD CEO or as 'low' as a vulcanizer.Thats where our problem starts. Looking down on people. The day your car gets stuck on the expressway, the supposed low life mechanic is the one that will come to your rescue. The ones u regard as riff raffs. And we wonder why mechanics charge crazy fees? Its cos thats where they are the boss, the all important CEO. Treat people with respect.

I am sorry I had to digress from soccer but all these things are interlinked. I have more to say but I would stop here.

I do not think Leon Balogun will make it. Certainly, I see Awaziem filling that spot. Apart from that, much the same. However, not my preference at all. I would have preferred a compact defence/midfield set-up with a free attacking forward line.

With Mikel Obi and Ndidi staying compact with the defence. The full backs, Aina and Shehu will offer support going forward one at a time but in a limited fashion to reduce the gaps on the flanks and also help keep the defensive midfield area compact.

This would have been my preferred approach. No Onazi because the role calls for serious discipline of the defensive midfielders.

Akpoborie should proffer solutions on how to improve our league. Sit down with the management of LMC and Aiteo and work on ways to improve the quality of the league.

It all boils down to channelling resources towards the development of the league.

So the line up I expect (note, not my preference) will be,

Ighalo will play as a lone man up front with support from Mikel Obi during counter. A lot of our opportunities will come from the flanks, especially during counters and I expect us to spend a lot of time sitting deep.

Does saying Iheanacho score a tap in goal make him a tap in merchant? Seriously. I have given you multiple goals and you are saying one goal. SMH. I wonder if you understand what tap in merchant means at all.

Being a tap in merchant is nothing to be ashamed of.
The only limitation is that he may not function properly in a team without 2 line breakers who will break the first and second defensive line which leaves him with the easy job of tapping it in.
No wonder he couldn't function properly against South Africa owing to the absence of Moses who is the only line breaker we have in the final third.

Subs will depend on the complexion of the game. As the game progresses, the subs will come from what happens. I hope Rohr gives Onyekuru a spot on the bench, in case we need to make an attacking change to run at the Argentines. I feel he is a better choice than A. Musa.

The young chap still has a long way to go,not yet there coz he missed a chance that could have given him more playing time or even a starting place.

The guy is promising and i believe with more playing time and good coaching,he w soon be a force to reckon with in bundesliga.

Official : Argentina FA Announce Pre-World Cup Friendly With Nigeria In Krasnodar
The Argentine Football Association have announced a pre-World Cup friendly with three-time African champions Nigeria, ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

The South American powerhouse will start their preparations for next summer's showpiece with a high-profile exhibition match against the Super Eagles in the Arena of FC Krasnodar on November 14.

The stadium, owned by FC Krasnodar of the Russian Premier League, has a capacity of 34,291 spectators.

Nigeria have met Argentina four times at the World Cup, losing by the odd goal in each of the matches.

In USA 94, Argentina, who were inspired by Diego Maradona, beat Nigeria 2-1 with Samson Siasia on target for the Africans, Argentina won their opening game in the 2002 World Cup 1–0 against Nigeria thanks to a second-half goal by Gabriel Batistuta.

Seven years ago in South Africa, Heinze's sixth minute goal proved to be the winner in their opener against Nigeria, while Ahmed Musa bagged a brace in a 3-2 loss to the two-time world champions at Estádio Beira-Rio, Porto Alegre in 2014.

Nigeria's last competitive match of 2017 comes away at Algeria on November 10.

I think so too going by the squad released for both friendlies. Rohr wouldn't want to test new players against that squad though the MF looks suspect but they are great players (strong in depth and play). Hopefully it won't be a repeat of the one played in Karachi wey Di Maria and Messi just useless our defenders cheesy

Argentina used black magic as Leo Messi got them to the World Cup

Football (soccer) greatest goals and highlights | 101 Great Goals

Argentina, Leo Messi & World Cup

Once again, Leo Messi proved what a genius he is during the last international break.

Argentina were on the verge of missing out on the 2018 World Cup. They needed a result away at Ecuador to book their spot in Russia next summer.

And then Messi flipped the script.

Ecuador 1 – Leo Messi 3

The match started terribly for Argentina as Romario Ibarra scored in the first minute of the game.

But then Leo Messi came into his own, dragging Argentina to the World Cup virtually singlehandedly.

Goals on 12 and 20 ensured that Argentina had some breathing room going into the break.

The icing on the cake came from Messi with a glorious third goal, a chip over Ecuador goalkeeper Maximo Banguera.

This marked Leo Messi’s 44th career hat-trick. 39 for Barcelona, 5 for Argentina.

And, in a nice touch, the hat-trick goal was Messi’s 50th for Argentina since he was been wearing the iconic number 10 shirt.

Argentina used black magic

In the aftermath of the Ecuador game, it’s been confirmed that Argentina used black magic in Quito.

The Argentine FA employed a so-called sorcerer, or healer, for their final World Cup qualifier.

The sorcerer’s name is Brujo Manuel, and according to initial reports he was hired on the advise of former Man United midfielder Juan Sebastien Veron.

After the Ecuador game, sorcerer Manuel explained what he did to help his national team. As reported in Clarin, Manuel said:

I did what I had to do, I gave Argentina a hand.

Manuel avoided the exact details of his black magic skills.

But the rumours are he interacted with all the Argentina shirts before the game, while he performed a spiritual walk in the stadium before kick off.

Veron: ‘It wasn’t me’

On Thursday, Ole have published quotes from Veron on Argentina’s use of black magic.

Veron has rebuffed claims that Argentina hired the sorcerer on his advice:

I did not recommend Manuel. I know him because he’s from La Plata, but I did not recommend him to anyone.

The plot thickens…

Will Argentina take the sorcerer with them to Russia too?

They are not on par AT ALL BY ANY STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION.

Solanke is the current best U20 player in the world and is playing for a top team in a top league with World class attacking players ahead of him. Firminho, Coutinho, Mane, Sturridge, Salah, to name just a few.

Osimhen on the other hand has achieved nothing beyond small boys football in the past near two years. He is struggling to get on the bench at lowly Wolfsburg no joke he will not make it into Liverpool U18.

Finally, who is ahead of Osimhen blocking his pathway to the first team name the world class top performing attacking players please let's make a comparative analysis. To end it all who has relegated Osimhen to warm bench the striker Divock Origi that Solanke had displaced.

If Solanke was in Wolfsburg he would be first choice striker, no shakin.

This matter is concluded Solanke no be Osimhen mate.

The answer to the @bolded is Origi. grin

Who is Origi? The person Solanke chased out of Liverpool-fc to get game time on loan with Wolfsburg. grin
