Google "Global fire power" and read up on there, and also compare countries and see rankings for most countries.
Just don't ask that here, that will start E-War grin wink

Of course, you shouldn't take Global Fire Power serious. They rank DRC above Tanzania, Zambia obove Uganda, Ethiopia above South Africa.

PIC 1: a Recce who'd been part of a 4-man SF team that tracked and found the Mai-Mai (4 men shadowing a cohort numbering 3 companies in the jungle), gives a final briefing before departure;
PIC 2: Guatemalan SF de-bussing at the LZ.

They're very impressive. They've been frustrated though, because as jungle warfare specialists they've been under-utilised. That's because they're part of the MONUSCO peace-keeping mission, not the FIB. Plus MONUSCO has been reluctant to fully use the SF contingents under its command ever since 8 Kaibiles were killed in 2006 after a reconnaissance patrol inadvertently stumbled on Joseph Kony/LRA's then HQ near the border with Sudan.
Now that a SA SF man is in charge of the whole MONUSCO, that's started to change. I quote, "FIB or not, SF will do the job of SF."

This controversial war game was conducted in 2016 by experts from the US WAR COLLEGE where the military's future Top brass are made. Grow up! The US War College simulates such things for every country on earth. Every professional military academy should do such exercises.
Are you going to accuse us of war-mongering too, because we do the same with various African countries?

Do you know Switzerland a country that not been at war for while over a 100 years as a plan to invade France. These think tank groups do nothing but plan wars, refine plans and file them. SA has a plan to defend and invade every one it's neiboughrs

I am not talking about stuff from there civil war. Yeah they did some pretty bad things, but blame should fall on the men who gave the orders. I am more talking about there training where they condition them to kill with out second thought or mercy. Pretty crazy training.

Specifically a AESA radar I can't say. Not sure if the AESA radar from Saab is going to be purchased but South Africa as a lot of radar covarge. Air force has fixed and mobile long range and medium range radar systems, army has there own for Anti air guns and then the navy has there own on there ships and then combined with civilian government radar are all linked to get her meaning any radar screen with a Data link can see contacts while North of the border. If say Zimbabwe and SA went to war SA could track there aircraft from there bases to our border.

The current guys acknowledge the sordid history and point out that it was a different country. As one of them said to me, "Your Recces also used to serve a different country."
I do have reservations though that some unsavoury training methods from that different country have been carried over to their new one.

All I know that some former Kaibiles were involved in setting up one of the fiercest Cartels in Mexico... Los Zetas I think (too lazy to google).

Apparently they got brought in to do some odd jobs, took a look around and said "nice Cartel, well take it".

Apparently they were detected because someone brought along a cell phone or un-encrypted device.

Which makes one raise an eyebrow... How did Kony and his rag-tag mob of, lets be honest, peasants, get their hands on such equipment?

Not them. That was Ugandan Special Forces in 2012. They were using mobiles to communicate with their base and the entire patrol was found and destroyed - 9 souls. Let's not forget Sudan used to fund and equip the LRA to destabilise Uganda as payback for their support for the SPLM/A. That whole Great Lakes/Central Africa/parts of the Horn/Sahel region is a cesspit of betrayal and "states" funding each other's enemies.

Hence some of us characterise Bangui as a Defence Intelligence SNAFU for failing to properly detect, assess and feed in that:-
1) Seleka was nothing but a Tchadian creation - previously deployed by Tchad against Sudan in Darfur to aid the Darfuri movements and give them operational experience - with the promise they'd eventually be aided to go home and topple Bozize;

2) France and her overseas provinces in FOMAC (Congo-Brazzaville, Cameroun and Gabon) were driven more by the desire to stop SA encroachment in CAR and to this end, were prepared to sup with the Tchadian devil and sacrifice CAR citizens to the tender depredations of the Seleka savages.
(Some colleagues opine DI deliberately withheld the intel to stick it in to then JOps Chief Gen Mgwebi - he doesn't come from MK and doesn't suffer fools - and they were none too pleased when the UN Security Council picked him to head up MONUSCO).

Well, that turned out well, didn't it?

At a FOMAC summit the same duplicitous French puppets asked Zuma - with a straight face - for a SANDF battalion to join the UN peace-keeping mission there, having kiboshed our planned reversal of the AU-illegal Seleka coup. Someone at JOps who was in the room described it thus: "The C-I-C suffered a visible lack of humour moment" and proceeded to tear off their spineless hides. Only time I've been proud of the man.

Now the current French/FOMAC-installed CAR govt is busy erecting monuments to our 15 heroes and doing like Bozize, reducing French influence and begging us to go back and train their army, having seen how we conducted ourselves those fateful 3 days in March 2013 cheesy cool cheesy cool.
