Gracee101:If you want to visit Australia, just apply direct. The Canadian student visa is a temporal residence permit that gives you free access to Canada alone. Even with the visa, if you want to visit Australia, you would still have to apply for a visit visa from Canada. It does not give any major advantage per say. Also Australia and Canada are so far apart, that you run a high risk of denial when applying from Canada without congent reason. Hope this helps. 2 Likes |

SPOILT9JAOLOSHO: I thought the thread is for sharing knowledge that can help in getting admissions & trv to study in Canada. Anyway, I saw it somewhere in Telus Centre in my school and thought to share. If the Admin feels it’s unnecessary then it’s fine. |

Hello Great people in the house. I received my gcsm today. I was honestly confused looking at it from the angle of a "date created" I sighted on the notes which is 24/05/2017. I wonder if this is correct cos I submitted my application on 12/08/2017. Where does the date 24/05/2017 came from? Please I count much on your contributions

From what he posted, he is working on securing funding for you. He will always be a mentor when you get accepted but bombarding him with that kind of message up there might chase him away. hansmond93: If you want to do a masters in computer science you don't need to do a PGD first. You can apply directly especially since you already have a physics degree, which should already give you a strong math & analytical background. Many (most?) CS (or software engineering) programs in Canada & the US accept MSc applicants with an undergraduate background in engineering, math, physics, statistics, etc. Here's an example: http://www.concordia.ca/academics/graduate/software-engineering-masc.html From the VO's perspective, if you want to do a masters in the United States then why are you going to Canada first? Why not go straight to the US? Think like a VO. Since you already have a BSc, it may be difficult to convince the VO that you plan to spend your next five years (3 years adv dip + 2 years MSc) studying just to get a masters in computer science, spending at least $25k per year! If you claim to want to do a masters thereafter, why not do a one-year or two-year PGD instead? Why a 3-year advanced diploma if you already have a BSc in physics? |

Does McMaster admission take this long? My husband applied about two months ago. Yet McMaster has not updated the application. Their e-reference system is also wack. His referees had to manually fill the form. Does anyone knows how fast uSask admission is? We might have to go with that. |

hi, Abiodunne.. I recently got admission into Conestoga College for spring of 2018, I need advice and what are the things I need to note when applying for student permit, Thanks |

LMay: Depends on when the deadline is. If you filed 4 months before deadline, don't expect to hear anything until afyer the deadline closes. They begin to consider applications all in one pool after deadline closes. Those schools with a rolling admission, make a decision quick. They decide as you apply. From experience, the schools with rolling admission are not very good schools, don't offer any scholarship. Strict adherence to deadlines will make you not prolongly wait for admissions. Most schools make admission one month and at most , two months after the deadline closes. I applied to USASK in February and got admission one month later. Deadline was February 1st when you need everything to be filed, transcripts, recommendations et al. 1 Like |

thesoj:Thank u so much for this. I really appreciate your reply. I believe I can convince the VO about going for advanced diploma first because the program in Centennial has a work placement which will give me the necessary experience, also get me acquainted with top software developers cause top companies like bell Canada, IBM, American express are partners with the university. The program also uses project based learning which is evident in semester six's software development project which will all expose me to real life application of what I have studied. I may have to cut the MSc in usa though. Pls, how can i go ahead with payment of deposit nd you didn't answer my question on study permit and TRV. |

@Jnyuwa I beg to differ with your conclusion that schools with rolling admission are not very good schools. University of Calgary is a good school and they also offer rolling admission. jnyuwa02: |

hansmond93: Honestly, I would advice you go with what @thesoj said. Everything you hope to do with the adv diploma, you can also do with the masters. Why waste precious time and trv refusal trauma when you can avert these? But then the choice is yours... 1 Like |

Jadel03: I should have said "almost all." Yes University of Calagary is a good school, a second tier though. The highly coveted programs it offers though, are not by rolling admissions. What program at the University of Calgary that you are referring to are rolling admission and does it offer scholarship on that program? What do you understand by rolling admissions? I would have to guess no because schools with competitive programs and funding to dole out, have strict deadlines to conform so that all applicants are considered in one pool. |

holluwizzy: You'll be better off if you go on jobberman and put up an offer for a Personal Assistant. When the assistant then gets you a list of good schools in the range of $5000, we can help with the application process. Also, yes you get your refund usually without the application fee 1 Like |
