Happy for Joel Obi. Let him just stay injury free. This is a player that can add something to our team. But truth is our players have upped the ante. Smoking. There's no week that passes without on average of four Super Eagles or Nigerian players giving a good account of themselves. Like everyone of them saying 'Papi Rohr, how far with Russia na, I dey here oo'

Unlike a year ago or in previous years where almost all of them were flat but now they are vigorously throwing their heads up.

A fit Joel Obi makes our first Xi...simple as that.

Players who have been away for a long time are not just introduced like that. Especially if a team building process is ongoing. This would be like a debute for this team.If at all he gets called up he may make a substitute appearance.

Interesting interview. Suprised that Ola Aina had never been to 9ja before his invitation.

A good world cup for Jordan Ibe will raise his stock again. He looks a shadow of the player that broke into the limelight at liverpool.

Unlike Iorfa's rejection, Ibe made it clear that he is giving an English call-up priority. That means, we are the fall-back choice. Iorfa was essentially the same but in different language.

Firstly, Dominic has never rejected a Nigerian call up as opposed to Ibe who doesn't even consider himself as Nigerian.

The NFF to date have not given Dominic an official invitation there has been a lot of misleading rhetoric but no invitation. Talking to a player father may seem ok but it's just talk ,, invite him directly and he will be there.

Well, he did say that Iorfa will not play until he reaches the age of 23. That can be interpreted in different ways.

Well that is what happens in the world cup year. Especially if your Country has qualified. Una never see anything. When proper goal scoring competition starts, una go shake and shiver. Lets jus wait and see

Yep. We need competition to keep players on their toes. Let's not Forget Etebo who Rohr still sees as a CM/AM

Super Eagles World Cup Bonus Update

Appearance, Minute-based Bonus for Eagles

FIFA WORLD CUP LARGESS
By Olawale Ajimotokan in Abuja

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is proposing a sharing formula that will see the Super Eagles benefit from the FIFA World Cup money only based on the number of matches and total minutes played by each member of the national team in Russia.

The Super Eagles, who remained unbeaten in the continental qualifying campaign, will make their sixth World Cup appearance in Russia in June next year, hoping that money related disputes will not distract their participation.

It has been reported that NFF officials are keen to resolve the bonus arrangement with the players, including what they stand to reap from the FIFA money, by the end of the year.

But THISDAY reliably scooped at the weekend that as a departure from the traditional flat rates across board, NFF is considering paying the Eagles only based on the number of matches and minutes played by each player.
The implication of this according to an official privy to the negotiation is that not all the players will receive equal payment in Russia.

In line with the plan, players who make more contribution in terms of number of games will be paid more than the bit players and those only going to Russia as mere squad members.
The FIFA windfall is aside the structured and approved match bonus which the NFF will offer the players for every match apart from the graduated bonuses for advancing to the knockout stages of the tournament.
Nigeria is entitled to a $12.5 million cheque from FIFA for qualifying for Russia 2018.
The African federation stands to get more pay-out according to how successful they are in the latter stages of the World Cup.
But sharing the FIFA money has always generated row leading to national embarrassment between players and officials.
At the last World Cup in Brazil in 2014, the Eagles skipped a training session in Brasilia before their round of 16 game with France following row with NFF over money.
They only agreed to play after government hurriedly sent $5million cash by a private plane to Brazil.
THISDAY checks revealed that NFF will only share the net fee received from FIFA to the players as the football body will deduct some percentage as tax and sundry expenses on accommodation, security, transport and feeding which will be transferred to the federation.

The Olayinkas and Onyekurus are our own but lookman needs to be invited just to be capped for us to be guaranteed he is ours. This is because he could be another Alaba or Ali. grin

This is what will destroy the peace and unity we have in that team.

I remember stories of players using "juju" on their team mates because of game time issues.

There are only 23 players in a team and already you have mentioned 7. It would be highly counter productive if we cap a foreign born players just for the sake of owning them. If it turns out that they are not good enough or thst we have better options and such player never gets to play or plays limited matches, then it would become a reference point to dissuade others in the future.

How about contributions of those on bench - moral support, training, time/energy exerted in training.

A better formula will be to have a minimum amount per player, and then with premium for those who actually played according to their time.

Having said dat, all d suggested players like lookman, olayinka, aiyenugba, ajagun, onomah, and co,I don't fancy any of dem,cos I don't c anything extraordinary dey would add to d team, dt dis present crop of players won't do,
