d benin moat is true but now lost because of lack of maintance i went to marriage recently in benin and i passed a place to buy drinks and i notice d ground level of the place went deep the trees there was different and i looked round properly and i saw i was in the benin moat that has been covered i asked my dad yo confirm and he replied yes i shaked my head with agony here are proves
https://googleweblight.com/i?u=https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walls_of_Benin&grqid=VsTte8r5&hl=en-NG
d first pix shows the actual moat
while d second shows d sketch by d british around the gate in the sketch they are deep holes which is d moat but not properly shown in the sketch

this anoda link which tells why the moat has been removed from world record who wants to learn read with a free mind and blame the govt as well as the oba of benin for mis managemnt

This Benin one has to be a lie. There is no archaeological evidence of any great wall. What Benin had was a Moat and its only around Sakponba and 3rd Circular
all bini history is doubtful. I dont believe any of them. Just talk. No evidence

[quote author=nairafacts post=61912884]3. The Yoruba tribe has the highest rate of twin births in the world. Igbo-Ora, a little town in Oyo state, has been nicknamed Twin capital of the World because of its unusually high rate of twins that is put as high as 158 twins per 1000 births. In a video I watched last year on YouTube presented by Titi (a white lady who speaks Yoruba), and which was centred on twin births in Igbo-Ora,

Yay! Gonna have twins

what I really find funny is when someone just sees something then come online to assert it as a known fact. the Benin most is not just at sakponba and 3rd circular. if was so it would not be called a most but a ditch. my friend go and find the meaning of a moat, and FYI the most cuts across all corners of Benin from evotubu/erhunsee, ezoti, uselu, parts of sapele road area(around ebe school), ugbowo, siluko, iya-ero( which literally means moat of ero),. so Mr man stop dropping names to make yourself look smart/ an authority. It only makes you appear foolish. secondly a Benin wall existed but ignorant people like you pulled the remaining blocks down between the 50s - 70s and used it to build some of those mud houses you see. During the sack of Benin by the British they destroyed parts of the walls. if you look at the pictures of Benin taken by the British of Benin during this period you will notice the walls. some small fragments of this wall can be noticed around the akpakpava area( some parts of the holy aruosa church)
no be mouth. Show picture

1. The Walls of Benin (800-1400AD), in present day Edo State, are the longest ancient earthworks in the world, and probably the largest man-made structure on earth. They enclose 6500 square kilometers of community lands that connected about 500 communities. At over 16000km long, it was thought to be twice the length of the Great Wall of China, until it was announced in 2012 (after five years of meticulous measurement by Chinese surveyors) that the Great Wall is about 21,000km long.

Noone is arguing there was a wall, it's just super exaggeration to claim it as the largest wall or whatever. the wall is claimed to be longer than the great Wall of China. At 16,000Km long it'd reach from Port Harcourt to Timbuktu in Mali! that sounds ridiculous!
Unfortunately most people have no senses geography so they swallowed it hook line and sinker.
