your opinion of Iwobi's abilities is highly subjective.

He is not as effective on the wings...and forget natural player, that is just a term that implies lack of versatility. Do you think Muazzam would play AM better than Mikel or Iwobi?

my reservation is that rohr is not sold on iwobi playing the AM still....

Hanhan, is Tammy not good again? But you were calling for his invite some time ago just as I did. That he's declared for England does not take away any merit from the quality of his game. Let him go and play for England. It's all good. The door he has refused to walk into will be open for another person.

Please furnish me with a link to any of the news sources. I googled it and nothing indicating your assertion as regards Tammy's decision
I am currently in a meeting will share it later....

That's if he goes but he stands a chance though cos sturridge and Welbeck are injury prone.

Chelsea youngster Tammy Abraham has reportedly decided to commit his international future to England rather than Nigeria.

The 20-year-old striker is currently on a season-long loan at Swansea City, where he has impressed with four goals and an assist in 10 Premier League appearances to date.

On an international level, Abraham has been playing with England's under-21s side for the last year and has already racked up 13 caps, but is also eligible to play for Nigeria through his father.

According to The Times, Nigeria have been courting Abraham in recent months and met with him in September in an attempt to persuade him to switch allegiance before he earns his first senior cap.

The newspaper claims that Abraham has decided to turn down their advances however, informing "senior FA officials" in recent weeks that he remains committed to the Three Lions.

England manager Gareth Southgate was in attendance at the Emirates last weekend for the Swans' 2-1 defeat to Arsenal and is believed to be considering giving Abraham a place in his squad for next year's World Cup in Russia.

I am too full of my African pride to beg some little English born who bows to a white woman to come play for Nigeria...Pathetic.
And why would you want to reap where you didnt sow ? If I was England I will make law forbidding our home grown players from switching nationality. African are so lazy!! Are black really INFERIORS ?? In a country of over 160 million you are begging a little English boy to come play for your messed up country.

maybe Larrykay doesn't fit into the coach's requirement.

Sometimes, a player may be great, but if the coach doesn't like your style of play, you never really get to play. I think it has been said here multiple times that Rohr would be in a better position to know who he needs because he gets to see them in camp.

And as for Musa? His day is coming, if that guy gets injured one day and he has to be replaced and the replacement puts in a good performance, he's done
yeah. he's lucky only Simon is his competitor. Besides he can play both wings. That must be one of the reasons papi Rohr keeps him. Will a fit Musa bench a fit Simon anyday?

Can we now stop mentioning Tammy on here??

Time for NFF to move on and try out the likes of Dessers and even Onyekuru as strikers.

There is nothing new about this Tammy story. He is waiting to see if he will get an England call-up. He will fall back to Nigeria if England is not forthcoming.

I see him playing a few games for England, here and there. Once the NFF came out public with that story, it was difficult seeing him play for Nigeria. The pressure would have been overwhelming.

I'd rather have Kayode instead of Musa. Is not like Kayode can't play from the wings as well.

Well, when I saw this I wanted to address it sharply but I felt I should read through the comments down to the last before this and I saw that no one directly addressed this smouldering piece filled with violence. So I will take it upon myself to do so because I enjoy this thread so much. It's like a house. It should be kept clean and safe.

First, safarigirl take note that when forgiveness made damning accusations against Rohr, several monikers including me called him out on it. He was not spared. This too will not be spared.
Now @all, I trust you guys read this blood curdling, murderous and toxic words from omanbala1. This is totally unacceptable and must be strongly condemned particularly more so that you were called to order by junnyjake and tglobal when you called forgiveness mentally sick and still you went ahead to pour such hateful, vicious words on him. If he's tribalistic, then you are also one whose heart is filled with hate and bitterness. Infact as per the bolded you are a potential murderer. We should not condone such attacks against anyone.

Apart from Rohr whom forgiveness unjustifiably attacked, he's been carrying on his wailings on the absence of Kayode with the air of one who has lost something precious(at least that's how he sees the situation) he's not insulted anybody here. Allow him his views. Outlandish, far-fetched, unreasonable - but there are his views. Counter them, even ridicule them but let's respect each other, respect the man.
And NO, I will not join hands to further your totalitarian call that we join hands with you to beat him down because there's room in my world, indeed in this world for men like him. Even God/nature cherishes variety and I don't want to live in that dumb world where everyone is a Yes man. The man below looks like forgiveness. I respect such men

I
Joebie:
Sometimes I wonder how many championship players get called up by national team coaches. Your measurement of the quality of the English second tier is subjective. I said it before that I don't think Rohr has a high opinion of the championship. Of course we know very well that Aina was with Chelsea's main team when we started the push for him.

Anyway I could be wrong, but don't forget that most of these lads you are clamoring for need to make a switch first. Not like they can be called up right away. So why the noise?

The question remains are there other Defensive Midfield options out there? Azubuike Okechukwu, the younger Nwakali, and Ramon Azeez comes to mind. Of the these, none are clearly ahead of Chidiebere. It's not about who get's the chance first, it's about who grabs their chance with both hands. Hence, there is no cause for alarm.

There is a lot of political maneuvering going on behind the scenes. I am sure you must realise that Rohr will still be influenced by the NFF for good or for bad he is not a one man band.

We continue inviting players through the pages of newspapers and the media. It's not about what Rohr regards as a quality league. But what actually is Quality it's not as subjective as some may think these assessments are there for all to see.

It's self evident. How can you be calling someone playing in Norway ranked near 30 in Europe in a team third from bottom who is even being benched as quality.

But back to the Championship you watched how the teenager Tega Abrahams tore up the championship and now the best young striker in the Premiership. That tells you something.

The best young left back in England plays in the championship bids of £30 million by a series of EPL clubs were rejected by Fulham.

Aluko was playing in the premiership but was not invited to the SE.

One of things you find with European national team selection is that the measurements of quality are there for all to see. The Co- relationship between top club performance and national selection is has little or no divergence.

The Spanish team dominated by Real and Barca players same goes for Germany. And across Europe you will find players from the top leagues and top clubs. If you look at Brazil, Argentina and even Chile thier players will come from the top clubs and leagues.

Something is clearly not right.

Believe you me do not be deceived the switch can be made a lot quicker if things are done professionally. So don't always believe all this nonsensical posturing by NFF that they have been trying.

The pertinent question is getting the best players into the SE without prejudice.

Ighalo Counts Blessings In China

footballlive.ng

Oct 31, 2017 1:00 PM

Changchun Yatai of China striker, Odion Jude Ighalo has taken a look back on his fortune in the outgoing season and, while counting the various gains he has made so far with club and country, he believes he has every reason to thank God.

The former Watford of England star admits he felt apprehensive at the start of the campaign in the China Super League but, with only one round of fixtures to go to end the term, he is now singing praises to God for what he says has been another fulfilling period for him.

After joining Changchun in a deal worth €23.3 million, Ighalo scored two goals in his opening 12 games before hitting form to score 13 goals in the subsequent 15 games, but he admits it was a tough opening few months for him.

However, Ighalo has now scored 15 league goals in 27 appearances for Changchun while also registering four assists to his name, and says he has every reason to be thankful for his debut season in China, despite his early struggles.

Ighalo said he was also satisfied with the outcome of his team’s penultimate match on Sunday against Chongqing Dangdai Lifan, which they won 3-1, as he believes he has surpassed all the expectations he had when making the move from Watford.

“I’m thankful for a successful season even with all the challenges I had in the beginning. I will say it was a great season.

“With all I have gone through this season, I wasn’t thinking of even getting to this level but all thanks to God.

“To be honest, I was frustrated in my first three months in the Chinese league. I was playing well but the goals were not just coming for me and as a striker, if you don’t score your confidence will be low.

“But I am a very optimistic and prayerful person and I knew it was just a setback that I could overcome and I thank God I was able to pick-up and lead my team out of the relegation zone.

“The Chinese League ends next week. So, I am fully available for the game against Algeria and Argentina, as we need to start building a formidable team ahead of the World Cup.”

Humility017:

do you know that chidi face more competition than onomah...
how about city's midfield.....or have you forgotten the dude is a city player...?
mind you had it been chidi was a British...he would have probably gone beyond the nose of Nigeria...we could have been scrambling for his allegiance same way we doing wit onomah and his gang presently

First of all he was never going to meet the work permit rulings because he was not classed as exceptional outstanding talent as KC was. So he was never in the game his route was to find a European team that will prove his pedigree. Going to Norway was already an act of failing on his agents part.

He was never ever bought to go into the first team at City so do not misrepresent the dynamics of foreign football youth player acquisition. Do you know how many boys are bought each year by top EPL clubs and a year later are let go for absolutely nothing. It's simply normal, why money too plenty.

He was bought as an academy player. I have spent a lot of time at City know most of the coaching staff at all levels including recruitment. There is no day you will not find players from all over the world coming there on trial or being looked at by City as potentials. But that's all potential players even when they buy you it's just potential. Chidi was simply potential nothing else.

Actually if he was British he would have to fight his way from local youth football, too academy football to first team and within that national youth team selection out of thousands of boys. In that regard he might never got off first Base. And yes he will face racism as well too, favouritism nepotism and corruption.

Ronaldo came on trial at Liverpool rejected and even not so long ago a teenage Dele Alli came to Liverpool but didn't make it.

There are too many variables involved to make a projection. Up until when Kane was 18 there was talk of letting him go as he didn't seem good enough.

All the boys of Nigerian origin in England have bad to fight thier way through nothing came easy. So don't think they are just lucky.

Brian Idowu On Standby For Only Argentina, Father Not Forcing Him To Represent Nigeria

allnigeriasoccer.com

Oct 31, 2017 8:40 AM

The Nigeria Football Federation have confirmed that Amkar Perm defender Brian Idowu is not in contention to be fielded against Algeria in a World Cup qualifier next week Friday, but could face Argentina in a friendly on November 14.

Born in St. Petersburg, Russia to a Nigerian father and a Russian mom with dual nationality, Idowu can suit up for the three-time African champions if the grandfather rule is invoked.

The Nigerian Federation stated via their official webpage : ''Russia -based Brian Idowu has been placed on standby only for the friendly with Argentina.

''2013 AFCON winner Kenneth Omeruo is on standby for both matches, alongside former junior international Alhassan Ibrahim, who now plays in Austria.''

Whilst Brian Idowu earlier stated that he won't reject a call-up to the Super Eagles if invited by the Nigerian Federation, the new development is that he has been advised by his Russian coach to keep his options open.

''I don't know myself which country I want to play for at the moment. But if I get a call up to the Super Eagles, I will honour the invitation,'' Idowu told allnigeriasoccer.com.

''I am half-Nigerian, half-Russian. My father is not forcing me to play for Nigeria, he supports any decision I make.''

Brian Idowu's mother hails from Imo State, South Eastern Nigeria.

Ben Iroha hails Chidiebere Nwakali Super Eagles call-up

today.ng

Oct 31, 2017 8:28 AM

Former Nigeria U17 coach Ben Iroha has said Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is on the right track of developing Nigeria football by giving a chance to young players like Manchester City loanee Chidiebere Nwakali.

Iroha, a former Super Eagles left back, spoke from his base in the United States of America, USA, after Rohr released his list of players for next matches against Algeria and Argentina.

“The Super Eagles have already qualified for the World Cup, so I believe the friendly against Argentina is part of the preparation for the Russia 2018 showdown”, said Iroha, who featured in Nigeria’s first World Cup finals appearance in 1994 in USA.

“So, bringing in young players like Chidiebere Nwakali among others to start learning the ropes early enough is a step in the right direction.

“Such decision guarantees a better future for the team especially given the fact that some of the senior players may not be part of the Super Eagles beyond the 2018 World Cup”.

The former MVVV Maastricht of Netherlands left back posited that the match against Argentina will put the Super Eagles in the right frame of mind after the inconsequential final Group B World Cup qualifier in Algeria.
