Every player works best or plays better when his team is dominant and are keeping possession.

We don't need players that only perform well against a weak opponent. Instead we need players that can swim against the direction of the tides thereby getting the team going against all odds.
Until we have this kind of players we really don't have a team yet. Do you know I always wish we play an opposition that scores us at least two goals so that one can see the mental strength and resilience of our team? On the back of your comments in relation to the Atlanta 96 team, I went and watched long parts of the match and I realized that that team had strength of faith, deep believe in themselves and resilience. They kept on unleashing waves after waves of attack on the Brazilians. It was not by luck that they won that match. Same thing against Argentina.

Ogu works best when you are dominant and keeping possession

For a big guy, he really does not put his weight about or get stuck in. His passing is fairly limited. He is not the type to hit a 50 yard long pass.. It is always short and simple. Good for keeping possession but not a creative outlet.

You are correct on the positives.

Ogu will probably work best with a battler and a creative person. He can help with the transitions.
That's more reason hes more better than Agu because those qualities I listed about Ogu are the basic abilities a central/defensive midfielder should possess.

Is there any moment a team does not need to retain possession? If I may ask.

You can shout ignorance from today till tomorrow. The point is simple. Anyone that wants to play for us just needs to declare. We do not need a special program to get them to play for us. Which program did we run for Balogun? He reached out to us.

Last week I talked about my suspicion of C. Nwakali's brother 'pulling strings' and you couldn't grasp that 'pulling strings' could be as simple as making calls. Now again komekn and I talked about building engagement and rapport and you construed that to mean begging. Again I spoke about making it perhaps formal by designating an official of the NFF to engage these players and you have misinterpreted it to mean special programme. I think the problem lies in how you understand the words that I use. Engagement and rapport can be established with something as simple as a call, a visit, an inquiry. Designating an official can be as simple as having a desk in our embassy for such purposes. dont complicate things. Engagement and rapproachment are big words but in simple terms they just mean to talk, to establish relationship.

Not long after that, he was called up. Senninger came to Nigeria and reached out. When Rohr feels he can offer something to the team he will get invited
.

This is the fundamentalism that I spoke about. But remember that different strokes for different folks. You cannot cast everybody in one mould. And moreover it is those who declare that we so far have shunned. Where's your Senninger? In any case there's nothing bad in declaring for Nigeria. In fact it is very good, very very good and we bless all those who have voluntarily declared for us but my point is not all would declare voluntarily for us. Some will do so after they've been approached and spoken to. if you ever hunted you will know that sometimes some animals would walk into your trap and at other times you have to go out and shoot them. All join. You want us to travel one road but I say no my brother: they are many roads that lead to the market.

Ola Aina used to send his kits to Lagos
Not everybody is Ola Aina.

We want those that want to play for us. Declare and make yourself available. Not undecided folks or those that do not feel Nigerian.

let me quote the great Apostle Paul for you: How can they hear without someone to preach and how can they preach unless they are sent? How can you know who is undecided unless you speak to them. You have no idea how they feel.

We need those who are proud and dream of wearing the Super Eagles Jersey. You think you can run special programs to carter for all of them and inject passion for Nigeria into them?
A dream can be birthed through something as simple as a word, a touch, a whisper.

If that is narrow thinking, good for you.

It is bro. And its not good for you.

Anyone that wants to play for us should declare. Anyone that does not feel Nigerian is free to do what he wants.[/color]

Ebuehi didnt declare. In fact he said he wants to concentrate on his club career. What made him change his mind? Engagement and rapproachment did- Rohr contacted his parents and spoke to them. If we follow your doctrinaire approach, he wouldn't be in our team today. But today he is in our team and if he turns out good for us we'd be happy we convinced him even when he said no.

We need those who dream of wearing the Green White Green. When you start by trying to convince the player why he should play for the team, it already showed the player does not have full passion.

Passion is a big part of footballing success. A player convinced to play for a team can hardly have the same drive and passion as a player who dreamt his whole life for a chance to wear the Super Eagles Jersey.

Not everyone applies for a job. Some are headhunted. If we feel a player is good and qualifies to play for Nigeria, then we should do all we can to get them.
The UK is worried today because many players who trained with their academies are returning to play for their home countries in Africa and Asia. There was even a report on BBC a few weeks ago. It's difficult for some of these players to decide which country to play for. Some of them have known only England ALL their lives and always dreamt about playing for England. They also hear sad stories about Nigeria. You need to find a way to engage them and see why they should choose Nigeria over England (or any other country).

Adebayour practically begged to play for Nigeria but he was shunned for overaged players. Anthony Joshua from what we hear wanted to represent Nigeria at the Olympics but we refused him. So there are many reasons why someone will decide not to represent Nigeria and none of them has to do with pride. We need to show them that things are different now (are they?).

Stop looking at this issue through one prism. Did Ebuehi declare for us or was he convinced? Where is Senniger who declared voluntarily?

You chase women to see if she cares and likes you. If you notice she does not, persevering down that line can lead to a very unhealthy relationship. Why do you think lots of guys are trapped in relationships they know the ladies are not loyal and care for them?Or some guys are trapped in the friendzone with ladies who do not care.

You care for wa woman by her level of interest in you. Not your level of interest. That is how a man lands a true gem that is caring and loving. Loyal to the end.

Sub that analogy in football. We make ourselves available by welcoming those who want to play for us. Receive their tapes, study them after they have shown they want to play for us. Their level of interest in the team can equate to their passion.

Senninger is not ready. When he is, it will be easy stretching a hand and pulling him into the warmth of the Wings of the soaring Super Eagles.

Abraham sees himself as ‘long-term England player’ despite Nigeria’s interest in striker

Published: 22:55
Monday 06 November 2017

Tammy Abraham has pledged his long-term future to England, despite Nigeria attempting to sway the striker their way. The 20-year-old was watching Sky Sports News last Thursday when it flashed up that manager Gareth Southgate was handing him a maiden senior call-up, with Germany and Brazil now lying in wait for a striker on loan at Swansea from Chelsea. Abraham has represented England at youth levels, but in September Nigeria football federation president Amaju Pinnick – a childhood friend of the striker’s father – spoke of his confidence the eligible youngster would commit to them.

Victor Moses has previously gone from the Young Lions to the Super Eagles, while Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha won two senior England caps in friendlies before switching his allegiance to the Ivory Coast.

Abraham, though, says playing for England is his only focus right now.

“I see myself as being a long-term England player,” he said. “That is where my main focus is and now that I am here, I am 100 per cent focused here and trying to get into that team as much as I can, really, so my main focus would be here and nowhere else for now.” Asked if he felt like he had a decision to make, he added: “I think I was pretty set on England, really.

“Playing in the Premier League, it would be nice obviously to make it into the England team as well. My main focus was here and nowhere else. “Of course (it was flattering), but for me my main focus was here. But it is obviously nice to know that I was doing something right and going in the right direction. “I think (Nigeria) tried to (roll out the red carpet), but, like I said, the main focus was here so there was no way of trying to do that for me, really.” The international break promises to be quite a learning curve for Abraham, who only has 12 top-flight appearances to his name.

“It would be a massive achievement for me and a big confidence boost as well, it would show that I’m going in the right direction,” he said. “If I do get my opportunity I’d like to grab it as much as I can. “I feel like I’m ready, but it won’t be easy. I just have to keep proving to the manager in training and showing why he picked me and just keep working as hard as I can. “I just want to go out there, enjoy myself and show to the world what I’m truly made of.” However, Abraham is under no illusion about the challenge that lies ahead of him, with former England and Arsenal striker Ian Wright tempering congratulations with advice that “now the hard work begins”. “Of course this is just the beginning,” the 20-year-old added.

“Now that I am here I have to keep pushing as much as I can. This is my chance and I will try and take my opportunity as much as I can. “(Wright) was a bit before my time, but I watch his videos on YouTube and he had everything as a striker. There are parts of that I need to bring into my game as well. There weren’t really any doubts because I have confidence in myself and belief in my ability and my desire to work as hard as I can.”

The first bolded is my whole point.
The second bolded is turning the whole analogy on it head. Do you know the meaning of what you carry between your legs? It stretches out, it penetrates. That's why instinctively women wait for men to come for them. So you expect a woman to send you her tapes, to court you? Hahahaha hahahaha.
In any case I understand your point but I do not agree that we should go for only those who voluntarily declare for us. I'm done with this issue cos we'd keep going round the same bend. You can have the last say.

Tammy Abraham just faced a barrage of questions to ascertain how loyal he is to the Three Lions. And someone expects him to say it's 50-50.

Excerpts

“I see myself as being a long-term England player,” he said. “That is where my main focus is and now that I am here, I am 100 per cent focused here and trying to get into that team as much as I can, really, so my main focus would be here and nowhere else for now.” Asked if he felt like he had a decision to make, he added: “I think I was pretty set on England, really.

My questions:
1. Why was it necessary for the interviewer to ask such questions considering the timing?
2. Why was he asked if he felt he had a decision to make?
3. Why did Tammy say, "Now that I'm here"?
4. Why did he say, "nowhere else for now"?
5. Why did he conclude, "I think I was pretty set on England"?

My conclusion: Dude is coy
My guess: He told the NFF he wants to explore his options first. And Pinnick is okay with that. Which is why the last time NFF commented about the issue, they said they know where they stood with Tammy Abraham, and didn't want to speak further.

Modified:
Bryan Efe's opinion on this comes to mind: Nigeria as fallback option.

In some games, you are under the cush and can't hold possession. Ogu will be a liability in such games as his tackling is not great. He will commit fouls but he can also reduce pressure by keeping the ball a few seconds longer.

Munich youngster, David Alaba, says he should have been playing representative football for Nigeria but was denied by stringent eligibility rule by football officials in the country.

Alaba, whose father is Nigerian and of Filipino mother, plays for Austrian national team but only after he has been turned down by Nigeria.

The defender said he actually planned to join Nigeria's cadet team which won the 2007 FIFA World Youth Championship at South Korea but words reached him of his ineligibilty

'I wanted to play for Nigeria but I must confess that there was no formal approach for me. A scout actually discussed that with me. I was excited because of my dad, he was a fan of Sunday Oliseh when Oliseh played for FC Koln. As a kid, I loved to watch Victor Agali in the jersey of Hansa Rostock,'' he told an Austrian news medium.
There was no what? FORMAL approach for me. And this is how we lost this gem. Smh. We are still leaking in the LB because of this loss. And here we have some under the guise of a false sense of pride(which is actually inferiority complex masking as pride) saying we do not need formal engagement and rapprochement with these players.

However, Alaba was shocked when told by the scout that Nigeria had plans mainly for its home-grown talents.''I got the information that Nigeria will only consider those who were in the country perhaps because of travelling logistics and that is the end of that."

Pls can we just drop this Tammy issue pls. His eyes will open when he is dropped from the world cup. The fact that kane opted out doesn't mean Southgate means what he is doing. Forget him and lets focus on the likes of noah joel sarenren bazee et al. Mark my word, Tammy will come out and make a statement of regret after the final list comes out for England and by then it might Be too late. Lets just the issue. Gracias!!

Alaba holds the record as the youngest player to play for the Austrian National team at 17 years old. There is no way we could have approached him at that time to play for us.

I wish him the best because of his love for Nigeria. Austria knew him, he played in their league for the best club in Austria. Alaba is not one of the members of "I don't feel Nigerian crew." We would never have beaten Austria for him.
