We should stop wasting our scare forex on courses which we have developed competency at home.

We should only send people abroad for engineering, ICT, medicine and related courses.

This is not the issue. They were sponsored by the state government to undertake those courses on scholarship. If the Rivers State government is withdrawing the scholarship, the students should be so informed.

What is needed is practical courses like shoemaking (do you know how many shoes we import in Nigeria every year?), irrigation management, food packaging and technology Welding, deep sea diving ,Air traffic control,carpentry, road construction,rail construction, waste recycling and management, logistic management,courier and parcel distribution,hospital management ,school management that will create jobs and wealth.
Akpabio spent billions building a hospital before realizing there is no one to manage it! We are talking of trains.Where are the train drivers,who will repair the trains. We need to focus on skills and jobs not books and exams.
We are talking of ranching where is the training? Where is the modern fishing off our coast
Ask those in the oil industry what we pay daily for divers and welders from overseas. Or what we pay for Fire and safety management.

What is needed is to do an audit of every single foreigner working in this country on a visa and make a list and analysis of their skill sets

To be frank, the governor is right on this. Foreing exchange is scarce, why waste the little we have on trainings that can be acquired here.

This argument makes no sense at all...Nigerian Universities offer medicine and engineering courses as well and these courses have not provided any direct value to our present economic conditions considering the excess talents and limited job opportunities (supply exceeding demand) in Nigeria. We must maximize the potentials of other courses to solve this problem. As usual, Nigeria is still struggling to grasp the potentials of the creative industry and how to commercialize it. That's why we make these stupid arguments. Lastly, it should be noted that philosophy gave birth to science and every solution started from a philosophical point of view. If these courses are irrelevant, the white men who we revere so much would have scrapped them by now.

A little history lesson for you then. When the internet first became a thing, people where creating all sorts of website (eg. Google.com, myspace.com, etc) and buying shares in them, similar to what we have today when people create new crypto currency like Chainlink, Ripple, Litecoin, Bitcoin. The value rose but there was a crash and only the top guys remained, like Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Amazon, Ebay, etc, if you had invested in those websites and bought shares, today you will be a millionare in USD. I'm with WIKE on this one.

That will be very foolish and wicked of you sir, and not being abusive. So all the other students who don't study science should go and jump inside the lagoon, including you own children who are not studying science.
Honestly most of you leaders in Africa and Nigeria in particular are destroyers and never leaders. Doesn't the wealth of the nation belongs to all. Does it belong only to science students.

Wike just confirmed he needs more briefing! I'm reading a book on anthropology..... "The Humanization of Man" by Ashley Montagu. The book should be reprinted for every Nigerian! I wonder if the author will get any grant of any sort here in Africa but the man is on fire! 1962 publication that is very much relevant to out challenges today.

I can understand the his perspective on this issue because to make sense of what he said like in Aamerica, I will notice that most taxi drivers are Nigerians/Africans who are graduates and some have master degree in social science courses like accounting, finance ans banking, literature at American universities. In realiry, it is simply harder 4 Africans to get jobs when they do those courses that are not science related, so In the end it becomes a waste of financial resources to study other courses that is not science related overseas.
