According to owngoalnigeria, this is the starting line-up released by Rohr after the last training session: Line Up. Ikechukwu Ezenwa Shehu Abdullahi Ola Aina Leon Balogun William Troost-Ekong Ogehenekaro Etebo John Ogu Wilfred Ndidi Anthony Nwakaeme Alex Iwobi Kelechi Iheanacho 2 Likes |

Clementoke: wait, are you missing the point here? I am to believe that we are the highest scorers, we have the meanest defence and we beat the best teams around, then you are telling me that the guy that is EASILY our own best player does not deserve to be in the team? It does not make any sense, you have players there who barely had 2-3 good games, Mikel was very good(atleast) in every game and once he leaves the pitch the entire team suffered, and he added goals and preassists too 5 Likes |

Icon4s: I don't see why I won't say something is good when it's quite clear. Maybe because Mikel won't score 20goals and people then think he offers nothing |

tbaba1234: and what are their positions? If Etebo is the Amf and Iheanacho is the ST then we won't have a single shot on target |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Clementoke(m): 7:18am On Nov 10, 2017 |
Mickael2: U kept drifting away from the main issue. The question is, did u watch the other players who made that ceremonial best eleven during the qualifiers. Prove by comparing them that they don't merit their spot in that team. For me, I only watched Mikel during the series but I can't say he was the best midfielder in the qualifiers since I didn't watch the others play for their national teams in other games whose efforts might have been overshadowed by the poor display of their teammates. |

We may likely find it hard to score due to lack of experience up front |

I still don't feel good with iheanacho play top 9. I feel we need a backup striker in ighalo mould to be around in the team. 3 Likes |

Just rewatched the Zambian game. Second half mainly. The gulf in class between Iwobi and Simon is big. If Iwobi can be more consistent for Nigeria, I don't see Simon benching him. Key word, consistency because Iwobi has had some stinkers for Nigeria. In the midfield, Mikel played the attacking role, Ndidi played the CM midfield role while Agu/Onazi sat in front of the defence. Earlier in the campaign, Rohr experimented with a double pivot system. (Against Algeria, Etebo and Onazi played in front of the defence.) Rohr appears to be willing to change systems depending on the game, that is a good thing. Mikel Obi is the Choirmaster, Everything good goes through him. The short passes between Mikel, Moses and Iwobi was beautiful to watch. Mikel Agu has good positional discipline. He might not have been too impressive so far but he keeps his position well. 3 Likes |

Clementoke: do you know how these things work? You cannot tell me that Ramos who is error-prone performed better than.....Koulibaly for example at Napoli, but Madrid won the champions league and Ramos made the FIFA pro XI. De Gea was saving one-on-ones like it was nobody's business but guess who won the best GK? Buffon. Your performance IS NOT independent of your team's performance, football is a team game and that is why these awards also depend on how your team, of which you are a part, performs. We are looking at the best team, it can be agreed factually that the best team has the best midfield, Nigeria was the best team with the best midfield and we are asking if the best midfielder of that team(Mikel) should make the team? |

Godwin Okpara in court again in Lagos for wife battery. Remember, he was convicted for raping a 13 year old girl under his care. Jailed for 10 years, got out in 3 yearsfor good behavior. He was deported to Nigeria. His wife also went to jail for torturing the same girl. What a terrible shame!! 2 Likes |

junnyjake: Ndidi, Mikel and Onazi are the current backbone of the midfield. Hope simply in comparison is not on thier level. But anybody else I would say he is not necessarily better but able to compete. How good he is we will now never know the opportunity to compete was never given. The way he was dropped unceremoniously from SE after getting injured for them leaves a lot to be desired. It's not everything I can say but once again influence peddling and politics got in the way leaving bother player completely disgruntled. Not they way he should have been treated. Sone Aluko was shameless blatant unguarded corruption. No need to go into detail what is dissapointing there are those who were guilty by consent and are still in the NFF. I am sure you must know that Rohr is not a one man band. Rohr has been in Africa for over a decade he knows how to play our politics. Consider what prior agreements and arrangements were made on the table and underneath it. You are experienced so I don't need to say more. So it impossible in the context of Nigerian football and the NFF for Rohr not be influenced and or coerced. Furthermore, he can't do everything by himself players will be recommended from above and below. Football is in my experience is about that big word OPPORTUNITY. Who will get the opportunity. Finally a sore point for some what do you think of Tega Onomah. Not about the possibility of him coming to the SE but as a player first. 1 Like |
