Friends, Countrymen, Nairalanders,
Here is my take on yesterday's match.

I will start with individuals
1. Coaching crew......I dont understand what yesterday's match plan was but I do know a few things were wrong. Even though it was a dead rubber match( Gosh! How i hate that slogan...DEAD RUBBER! An excuse for mediocrity?) I still expect the coach to play people according to their areas of strengths. I have always said it. Playing Etebor as the 10 was freaking annoying as he was bereft of ideas moving up front. If we havent noticed, we still are in dire need of a creative midfielder in the absence of Mikel. My fear is this man that has started by fielding players in awkward positions now, what is the guarantee that he will not do same at the world cup? I dont have a problem with Iheanacho being deployed to the wings. He needs it for his speed. So even though we drew the match, I would score the coaching crew a 5.5. Why? The reason we can make all these noise about giving Rohr a break is because we already qualified and we did not lose yesterday's match. Cos if we did, many positives of yesterday's match would have been negatives. .....lessons learnt, play the best in their rightful positions!

2.Ezenwa........ I think the dude is increasingly becoming reckless and swollen headed with confidence. He was found out big time yesterday and I had to tell myself we havent gotten a goalie yet. I hope wework in this area in the coming months.... scored a 5.

3. Ola Aina....... Gave a good shift, confident on the ball, played in the left ba k. One can only wonder what he would be like if he played in his actual confort zone. He left spaces goin forward though but thats the risk in attacking and i feel its worth taking, provided one is not dispossessed. Scored a 7

4. Troost Ekong...... not much to say.... solid all through.very tidy too........scored 8

5. Leon Balogun........Not the best of games for him yesterday. Its not easy to wear a protective mask and still play effectively. He got some decisions wrong yesterday but got into it. Nice and neat tackles as always. Won aerial battles fair and square. And amazing, he didnt pick a yellow card. I cant remember the last time we had that.
He scores a 6.5. (Guess he was just being overly careful not to aggravate his injury)

6.Shehu Abdullahi...... Now this is a dude that is really willing to put his all on the line for the right back position. Lemme not dwell too much on him i will easily score him 8.5 (if it were possible, 9.5.....but that makes me bias abi?

7. John Ogu......Slow but measured and thats maturity right there. Needs more game time in the present super eagles setup to really show what he can bring to the table. He kept things short and sweet and thats how it should be. Tackles..... ish! He needs to work on the timing of his tackles. Good with dribbles , confident and not easily muscled out of possession. ..... he gets a gracious 7.5

8. Etebor Oghenekaro.... I still dont know exactly where this dude fits into. But definitely not a 10. I am not sold out on him. For me he works beta as an attacking threat rather than as a 10. A support striker, a winger , a 9, anywhere but 10...... I will blame this on coaching crew who think we dont have eyes to see...... he scores a 5.5

9. Ndidi Wilfred....... needs to work on his passes. Great tackles, timeous use of his long legs .
Needs to also play purposeful football...... he scored a 7

10. Alex Iwobi...... played on the wings, could do beta as a 10 if encouraged along those lines. Not so impressed with his crosses on the wings. His passes were great but he also lost ball possession when it mattered most. ... scored a 7

11. Anthony Nwakaeme...... the dude is good but wrongly deployed for the wrong game (Dead rubber or not). He is suitable for games with physicality. He couldnt keep up with a fast break. Not so convincing up front simply because of the aforementioned reasons..... worked well with Kelechi but slow for an attacker..... scored a 6.

12. Kelechi Iheanacho........Well at this moment, the dude needs to get his mojo back. Body language says he is unhappy with himself. Had a good game. Got some invisible tackles from the grass a coupleof occasions and thats worrying. Cos i see that also when he plays for Leicester. Set pieces wise,he was amazing with quality delivery. If he can build on that asa skill, it would be a huge asset for him. Never minding that he played in an unfamiliar zone, he gave a good account of himself in the position. .....Scored 6.5

13. Henry Onyekuru...... Can someone tell me why we keep touting this dude as a 9 when he can be deployed as a winger, support striker or false 9? He is not afraid to take anyone on. Oozes confidence. Neat dribbles. One time that he had a chance, his curler wasnt strong enough. But that would count as an attempt still. He had a goud couple of minutes though not much enough to grade him, but I will still score him a 7.

The last culprit in the game yesterday was Mr Referee!..... Haba!!! Conjuring up a penalty was an all time low on the part of african referees. This kind of decisions have a way of changing the direction of a game. Did yall notice how suddenly, the irate and aggressive Brahimi suddenly started smiling and became calmer after his penalty ? Well i guess its the frustration. Yesterday's game just gave more credence to the fact that we need video assistants real time for all to see in as many camera angles. If possible a 360 view. Cos as far as I am concerned, we got robbed yesterday.

The grass? Lets not go there.........

On a final note, when we criticise Rohr, its not because he isnt good. But can he be trusted with quality decision when fielding his team? If his major players are missing, will we still retain our identity? Or its a case of gambling. I still believe with the same set of players that played yesterday, and the right tinkering, we could do better....Bad pitch or not! Thank you all

I really hope Cameroon win..at least to shut up the lousy Zambians who won't stop accusing us of bribing the referee to beat them last month...

Guys, please I need a clarification on something.
Why is Wilfred zaha eligible for Ivory Coast despite being capped by England twice

Friendly games for not count as full international caps.

As a consequence he was able to change his allegiance much to the indignation of the English FA.

I beg to disagree Sir. Forumites didn't even discuss this match as such not to talk of larger percentage. What has occupied us here has been the Tammy saga and the argument for /against foreign born players. I doubt if anyone even made any goal prediction in our favour. I dare say nobody did. I remember even laughing and saying that we've been on this foreign born issue because Super Eagles have qualified. There wasn't much expectation.

When Michael2 and I were saying we may not win the game we sounded like aliens.

This is not our WC jersey. Nike has just upgraded our jersey to what European countries already have. Compare England's, Portugal's etc existing jerseys.

Aina wasn't fantastic yesterday, he was just average bro, he needs to do more if he wants to send Ederson permanently to the bench. Can't really say he did badly cos the pitch surface made a mess for some of them.
Icon79:
Yea, the biggest discovery today is that we now have a decent LB. I will scream blue murder if Echiejile ever starts ahead of Aina again.
I think the team is gradually getting set. We still need a true top striker along with another playmaker besides Mikel.

He's yet to understand PLAYING with his defence partner. With time he should. Gave too much work to Balogun.
TheGoodJoe:
Ola Aina showed comfort going forward. Showed tactical depth in his play but his tracking back was faulty. Apart from that, I was okay with his play.

The gaps were too much and it took a lot of work from Balogun to keep it unnoticeable.

Like to see him play on a better pitch to judge his stamina running up and down the flanks.

Just angry Algeria started using Constantine instead of Blida. Blida's pitch is almost like European pitches. Hard to string 3 passes without a bubble. Happened to Balogun and Ezenwa a lot.

TheGoodJoe:
The poor passes yesterday had to do with the pitch. Even the poor ball control. So the criticism should be less harsh because all the players were working on a very poor pitch. A pitch I nicknamed a mudslide.

well don't forget the context. I'm sure he didn't mean in terms of "settlement".
To many cultures out there, bribing for something, when you have actually demonstrated you deserve it, is ridiculous oh.

I can highlight our many forms of corruption in Nigeria as we have it now, that have become our culture.
Consider some:

1. Sorting which is actually bribes
2. Giving the police money to get away
3. You graduated in Lagos and you are serving as a youth corper in Lagos. How come? when you are neither married nor in a critical condition health-wise.
4. You bribe your way to skip the line. Why am I kept waiting when I came before many others in the hospital? I keep seeing people go through the door before me. People I came before. na magic?
5. The satellite TV installer does not want to his job diligently after I've been charged for installation. He tells me he needs cable, that he doesn't actually need, since my house is already wired -- satellite ready. He wants me to give him money for cable, else...
should I go on?
6. The carpenter has already gotten deposit to start his job. He promises it will be ready in a week time, when he is done, I'm to give him the balance, which is 50% of his charge. When the time comes, he asks for more money, but the job is not even half done.
Should I continue.
7. My painter uses the paint money I gave to buy a different paint, does a bad job and still makes away with the paint buckets I would have given him anyway.

My friend the way corruption smells from top to bottom here.. it's a culture..

Corruption, where I am based, is institutionalized. That is to say it is legal. But when you look at it from a moral standpoint, you know it is corruption. Two different things. While giving kickbacks take place, It is not widespread as we have it here. It is not anticipated. Over here in Nigeria almost everyone expects you to "see" them. If you don't they give those who "see" them preference. They frustrate you.. some of us are really used to these things, but it's normal oh among civilized people.

Corruption in the UK is subtle and once on the inside it becomes quite obvious. I will give you some indicative pointers you can fill in the blanks. But first check this link below

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/premier-league-managers-accused-of-taking-transfer-bungs-by-football-agents-a7333941.html

Then consider this

1. Alex Fergus and Sam Allardyce both have sons who are agents. Moyes and Pep have brother who are agents. I could give personal specific examples. What do you thinks going on clear conflict of interest and undue favour.

2. Each player is somebody's meal ticket better new player comes in his meal ticket goes out. Therefore meal ticket must be protected.

3. Unholy alliances which means recruitment manager's are linked with particular agents. So once a player comes in the agent makes sure that everyone will have reason to smile.

4. Manager sells player he gets his cut offshore or any other clandestine arrangement. Dele Alli agents when he was sold to Tottenham were the same agents of his Manager plus he get shares in the company. See below
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4138156/MK-Dons-didn-t-know-former-boss-shares-agent.html

5. Top player in Manchester city youth academy needs to make way for expensive import. In contrived practice game academy strikers told, "Mate we know what you can do, so today your job is to give the ball to Enrico" (for example) . Obviously Enrico looks great scores goals and they then justify paying £1million for a 15/16 year old. Recruitment team are appeased by agent after hefty unjustified transfer fee.

6. Championship team in the Midlands see video of prospective striker. Tell his representative, can't bring him in, he's going to prevent our two England youths from progressing. In other words he is better than our strikers and what's in it for me if we sign him.

7. Premiership team player goes on trial after various attempts prevent player from coming in. Finally plays in one game scores a hatrick and two assists contract offered under public duress. But later withdrawn on break down of communication.

I could go on and on and Onazi that's a small glimpse from mainly personal experiences.

With national team set up its very difficult to manipulate the system without a players meeting the
required standards. Particularly with all the structured academy games and statistics there for all to see week in week out.

No player covers as much ground as Ndidi.. The number of tackles, he won against Algeria was outstanding. A midfield of Mikel and Ogu alone will be porous, you need a ball winner.

If only Ndidi can improve on his passing. There was an incident in the first half where he led a 3 v 2 counter. He totally wasted the goal bound counter with an erroneous pass straight to a surprised Algerian defender.
If he doesn't improve on his pass accuracy, he will always be stuck playing for a mid table club. No elite team can pardon such wasteful passes.

Ogu actually do not have issues with precision and accuracy. Just that he doesn't get to take much of it based on where he's mostly played (when he was constant in the SE).
realpoacher:
In all the comments and criticism so far, I expected someone to notice or mention a positive from our play which we've lacked so far all through the qualifiers.

Precise and deadly long range shot.

Prior to this match, all goals we have scored came from inside the box, non from long range outside. I have always knew that Ogu had those shots packed in his left foot and he has never been scared to take them but the problem has always been precision and accuracy, which he produced today.

Mehn that goal was a beautiful long range curler cheesy. It had the power, shot, curl and above all beauty deserving of a long Ranger. Immediately it left his foot, many fans including "yours truly" wink in my viewing center were already up screaming Goal, Goal, Goaaal with our hands up even before the ball entered the net.

Ogu apart from the two fouls he committed kept things simple and easy in the middle, passing and movement was top-notch! Agreed he is slow but midfielders don't need speed. Zidane, Pirlo, Keane, Rakitic, modric, Wilshire, Yaya toure, heck! Even Mikel is fuccking slow.

Besides Onazi, Ndidi, I will love to Rohr to play Ogu at the world Cup. Onazi, Ndidi and Ogu can and are not scared to shoot from outside the box but it seems that Ogu have more precision than the other two.

For the goal and coupled with his play, I will rate him 8.5. Goals determine results therefore for his effort, he deserves it

Long Rangers sometimes determine the outcome of a game, it's always good to have such spare options handy grin

in other words corruption there is a bit complex...and not too obvious..
I doubt if we will call that corruption here in Nigeria....that's like a normal way of life over here....
corruption in Nigeria stems from that gratification quest...where everyone believes they ought to be given token after doing their job...

no one does things for free....
you give a man a loan he will use 20% appreciate the bank manager...10% for wide parties and the remaining 70% he will now channel into the purpose of the loan...
tell how he will meet up...

mind you many jostling for cadet team jobs here in Nigeria are doing so....because of the gratification token they gonna get from players signings.....

corruption in the uk is light but here in Nigeria it is heavy and visible for all to see and live wit...

However, the Pace of Herrera couldn't help the Team to maintain the momentum after Fellaini joined the Injury List, rather it collapsed the Midfield.
