jfan: Yes you are in the right place and welcome to the community and brotherhood and sisterhood of NL TRV aspirants. We dish out some good stuffs here. Without wasting time, yes it is possible to go for a second masters in the same course you studied and be accepted by a Canadian university. However, whence the trouble lies is in getting visa. Nigeria is one of the highly risky areas with a track record of people gaming and manipulating Canada's immigration system. So VOs in Accra who peruse these application have their guards way up and try to demarcate genuine students from non genuine. In other words, those that once given TRV will study and those that will abscond into thin air once they arrive Canada. For some reason, going for a second masters when you are qualified to go for a PHD, is one of the signs that raises their eyebrows and gives them the feelings that a person might not be a genuine student. So I will advice you go for a PHD except you have an extremely good reason you can explain to the VO why you want to go for a second masters. Yes you can show proof of job without pay slip. A letter of employment from your job would do the job fine. Just as a warning though, you have to show that a job will continue to be available to induce your return back to Nigeria. From all that you explained, your job doesn't sound like a good job to me, so perhaps you might want to discuss in your SOP to the VO that the course you would be studying in Canada is highly lucrative in Nigeria, that you would be highly desirable upon return. Going for a PHD makes that easier believable. A lot of people present pay slips and job offer but leave themselves still vulnerable because they fail to tackle that jobs in their areas would continue to be available and give the VO a reason to believe that they would come back to Nigeria if they don't get PR in Canada. VOs always check "lack of employment and asset in home country" in response to such failings. Getting sponsored by three different people might show instability of financial support. Especially with people contributing in fractions to your support. You want the VO to believe that your sources of support is rock solid. These people are not required to sponsor you with their whole money in their balance, just the portion that they have agreed would be allotted to you. My advice actually is for you to collect written affidavits of support from all three, then collect all the money promised. Open A dormiciliary account and put at least 10$K Canadian dollars there or the equivalent of one year living expenses. Try and pay one year tuition cost too. That way your financial grounds are covered toe to head. You will only be left with proving you will return to Nigeria. How you craft your SOP to address that problem is also very important. Good luck with your plans! 10 Likes 1 Share |

@Arebo stop the negativity and hope for the best. Try to see if you can still link it now but if not just be hopeful until you get your passport. Some people get approval without approval mail (mostly due to technical issues). Best of luck |

mcobex:. Hello, I got an admission at Osgoode Law school for a masters program (Winter2018) I got denied visa on 13/11/17 I applied on 13/10/17 Reasons are: insufficient funds Family ties in Canada and Nigeria Purpose of visit My sponsor is my guardian who I have been living with since primary school. He put in the necessary documents needed with a huge SOA . My question is: Can I reapply this week because classes start Jan 3rd Or should I defer my admission for For summer or fall session I am confused and sad. I need your help people. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by matic12: 7:42am On Nov 20, 2017 |
Elizdee: Sorry for the refusal.. it is better you share your full profile here so that guru's in the house would give you suggestions and advice... However, why the rush to reapply this week... Try order for your gcms note then defer your admission to fall 2018.. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by jnyuwa02: 7:52am On Nov 20, 2017 |
Elizdee: Congratulations on getting into Osgoode. Wow, I am surprised! York University is a great school, one of the best in Canada. Please don't reapply immediately. Get your GCMS notes and see the reasons stated by VO. That would allow you to restrategize. Three weeks is too short. Defer admission to the next available resumption date. Sorry about the denial. Better to be safe reapplying than be in a haste and sorry because your application did not sufficiently address previous concerns raised. |

@Oriazowan I just saw your post. My spouse will be going to UNBC in January. He applied on the 10th of July and just got approved on the 13th of November. I would advice you to just wait. You will get it. They have very few Nigerian's going to UNBC. oriazowan: |

This Visa thing will not give man heart attack. One month and no update on my application but you can see plenty approval and some delays lol. Everything i am doing is on hold now because January is fast approaching and ticket prices are soaring. To those still waiting on their approval, have faith and stay positive. God knows why he made you take this decision. Have a great day guys! 1 Like |

jnyuwa02: Thank you so much for this detailed response. Am very grateful. 1. I will research into the PhD program as u have suggested. I read online that it is possible to change university/course in Canada so I am thinking if I can apply to another option related to structural (Like Masters in Geotechnical Engineering or Construction Management) which is an advancement in my career so on getting to canada I will change to structural engineering or just take few courses related structural engineering. Will this be work? 2. Yes you are right about the job, financially it is not too good but the experience is worthwhile. (That's what we sometimes get when one is starting out as a structural engineering consultant in Nigeria). I believe structural engineering jobs will continue to be available and if I go for Masters in construction management or Geotechnics that will make me more competitive. 3. I will open a domiciliary account and talk to my sponsor to fund it but hope it won't lead to issues of lump sum deposit or something? Thank you so much once again . 1 Like |

Hello friends, I just finished with my upfront medical exam, and now planning to go for police certificate. I learnt this can only be done in Alagbon Ikoyi Lagos. (Hope I am right?) Please how long does it take it get one, and how much do they charge? I would appreciate your kind and timely response. Thanks. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by matic12: 2:28pm On Nov 20, 2017 |
Pyale: Depending on your bargaining skills, you can have it done with 3k-5k at hand..... It's only done at Alagbon, Ikoyi and you get it immediately...... All the best. |
