CISA stands for Certified Information System Auditor
First of many certs by ISACA

The training and exam fee including membership fee cost close to 400k

Now with the high price placed on such a certification, one would expect its value and relevance to be commensurate

This thread is expected to be for two categories of people.First, those that are already certified should come in and help us with success exam tips and also share with us how they've been able to use the knowledge and cert acquired, how relevant is it in the labour market, what industry requires the CERT the most and if the Cert is sufficient in itself, if not what other things do we need to add to give us that edge we all striving to have in this highly competitive market

Secondly ..this thread is also for CISA aspirant(like me) to come learn from the already certified, tips on passing the exam and seeing if we can help ourselves with relevant materials and tips as they come

Im writing mine this DEC
Please help if you can!!!

I'm writing December 27.
I've to finish the manual. It's the second time I'm going through it.
I also solve questions extensively. Although, I've stopped for now in order to focus on finishing the manual.
You?

Same here bro
I'm kinda done with the manual
Going over it too a second time and I'm done with the simulated questions
Not fixed a date yet, but seeing your Dec 27th makes my wanting to write it on Monday a risky rush
Maybe I will still just chill a bit and study more

What Monday? Why the rush? Are you in Lagos?
Take your time and kill it. The exams are tricky.
I fixed mine that far because of work stress. I work in Apapa; I need as much time as possible.

Hi, all for those that did and passed kindly share your experience.......Did mine in June/ July .....and did it after attending Rhytex.... i think they were cool...but they tool too long to cover the whole material but all in all ..............cool...
I personally would recommend taking the class first then going thru the Manual at least twice....after that questions.......... questions.............. questions...!!
The Questions help to adjust your thinking....Makes it risk based and Risk based thinking is basically 65% of the whole IT Auditing and hence it forms the basis of the Exam itself ....

That being said...next step after passing the exam?
1. Join your local ISACA Branch ..Lagos & Abuja i think are quite strong...
2. Join your local ISACA branch

oooo..! i almost forgot the most important next step after passing the exam....Join your local ISACA branch

why? well i assume you want to get a job as an auditor or in IS Security ( CISM, CISSP etc) most organisations simply send their request for a new IT Auditor to the ISACA branch..

Also beyond the job thingy you need the CPE's and they sometimes organize Meetups, lectures with the " big boys" in the industry...and you could learn some small stuff at these meetings....etc....

------------------

Lastly ...ISACA itself organizes various online trainings and webinars for CPE's as well so watchout on your ISACA page

CISA is One out of Four .....or Five (now) certificates by ISACA which is body that deals with Information Systems Control ..the Certs are:

1. CISA.....Certified Information System Auditor.....for IT Auditors...........job = IT Auditor
2. CISM ....Certified Information Security Manager ......for Information security .........Job = Information security officer/Manager
3. CRISC ......Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control....... For Risk Management.......Job = Risk Officer/Manager
4. CGEIT ......Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT.............. For IT Governance/ MGMNT........Job = IT Manager/ CIO

Next lets Treat this Cost thingy ...lol grin

COST as at last diet is 760$ for Non Members & $575 for members ..(This is for CISA)

Training Can be anywhere from N4k (online) to N80,000(offline) to N160,000(offline) to 1500$( online...that i know off)

And u r usually given the books neecessary to pass...these are
1. the review manual( which you can buy separately and read if you are bonafide jackito...! grin )
2. Bank of questions....( which you must go through ...or else.....owo will surely wo gbo...!)

Also i should Add that you could work around the $760 cost sometimes because ISACA gives 1 and a half year memberships sometimes during the last quarter of the year....so if you know u r gonna write it in December u cd just wait till June and pay half year membership.....

or you pay in the last quarter and it lasts till the next year giving you extra time to either take another exam or take the exam again ............just incase

Now Speaking of Jobs....Hmmmmm i really can't give definite answer because...well We exist in country called naija...lol

However I think the emphasis now is on IS Security not necessarily IT Audit...there are more IT Security Jobs than IS Audit Jobs both in Naija and Worldwide.....Good News...Most OF the IS Security Jobs Consider CISA as a Required certificate ....probably Second to CISSP in that regard..

I think its worth more outside the Country than in the country IMHO.. undecided

Congrats Bro..! please gist us how it was...Which section did you find tougher ....? Risk Management? or The various types of Fire walls...?

or is it IT Governance that Gave you issues.....I found Domain 1 quite Easy...even though i have an IT back ground

I think most professional Auditors( Accountants) find Domain 1 a bit easy, but seem to have issues with Domain 5 & 4 due to the plenty of technical Jargon

Well first of all CISA is not a Financial Exam its an Audit exam with heavy emphasis on information technology...There is Only one Exam to be written...and its written in 3 periods each year....June-Aug/ Sept-Nov/ Dec..

Secondly there is no need to pass various "Diets" just prepare for the exam and pass it once

Its a CBT( computer based exam ) and all you need to do is just register online and Schedule your date and go Do it on that day...there are 250 questions you must answer in 4 Hours

It is marked based on a scale of 800 and you must get like 450/800 to pass ( so like 60%)

What Should you know?....hmmm there are 5 domains with varying weights as seen below.

Domain 1—The Process of Auditing Information Systems (21%)
Domain 2—Governance and Management of IT (16%)
Domain 3—Information Systems Acquisition, Development and Implementation (18%)
Domain 4—Information Systems Operations, Maintenance and Service Management (20%)
Domain 5—Protection of Information Assets (25%)

any other questions u need ask we shall answer...
