If u can lay yor hands on Liqui Moly, it's perfect for yor engine. I also use a m272 engine like u av in yor ML350. With a very gud oil filter (Star or Bosch), u r good for at least 10,000km per service.

check the wire that goes into the speed sensor if its broken or shorted anywhere... if you have a disconnected or shorted connection to that particular sensor no sensor will ever work there.

The truth is that when they grade oil they will always consider winter climates 1st before tropical climate like ours.
Cars that are here have no business with 0wxx graded oils. you will never need to crank ur engine in freezing temperatures here.

Age of engine have alot to do with grade of oil to be used for servicing... unless u have a way to eliminate wear n tear that occurs during friction which is impossible. As rugged as Benz engines are they also will succumb to frictionally forces with time.

I created this topic yesterday before I stumbled on this great thread. I need help as I am about to get a Mercedes Benz GL450, 2007/ 2008 Model.
Can the experts here please help with experience on the reliability, ruggedity, maintenance cost and possibly resale value? I also observed that there are a lot of 'Nigerian used' of these rides for sale, is it advisable to get one of these in place of the Toks?

More durable than the Peugeot. Parts are not cheap. Fuel consumption good. Although I prefer the naturally aspirated engine.... Preferably the v6 .

My battery keeps running down in my C240 2002. I have changed like three new batteries. I have also changed my alternator. But in the morning when I start the car, I see "alternator/ battery drive to workshop". After driving for a long distance and I switch the car OFF and ON, The alternator/battery sign disappears.please what do I do?

sometimes the way u guys analyze things ehh as if the problem will cost someone his or her life.. We are all driving this 4matic, How much will it take to fix the clotch? Or can one still drive the car when the clotch is down??

Me sef tire like say no be the same 4matic i drive all day the only thing about 4matic is the shaft and lower arms they are expensive to repair, yoruba adage says "owo ti o ni oye abuku kan" the shaft is just a little above 80k for toks and that is when it is damaged and it is adviceable to replace and not repaired when replaced u will use it for a very long time to come again, however the lower arms always deteriorate due to bad roads and it is expensive to repair aswell, it however goes for around 100k that also can be repaired for lesser amount so to me no big deal in 4matic it is all about having 4wheel on a sedan shikena!!

Have the the alternator tested! ask ur electrician to use a voltmeter or battery tester...don't accept the type of testing they do, removing d battery terminal while d engine is running.
Don't just assume ur alternor is fine without testing it.

I think he's talking about parasitic drain of the battery power. Note the alternator keeps the battery charged after a drive. But it drains overnight! He needs a technician who can trace the leak.

since he said he is seeing the "alternator/battery visit workshop" on the instrument cluster, that will rule out battery drain.
The battery drain will not show up on d instrument cluster but unstable or insufficient current from d alternator will display.

It will show up if the battery's voltage falls below a particular threshold

since you have confirmed that the alternator has been tested and confirmed OK.
The next thing you need to do is tell ur electrician to disconnect the seat module, the 2 front seat module. its usually located under the seat they are known to drain battery when they fail.
Drive the car for like 2 days without the seat module and see if it will fix the problem.
