that's true. Many unexpected things happen bro. Like Russia or America refusing to sell you emergency air to air missile or a platform to mount it. Like Sudan upgrading one of its cargo plane to an aerial refueling platform and entering West African airspace to carpet bomb Abuja or everything that we hold dear in the south. Please tell me one single way that you will deter this sort of aggression and tell me how the unexpected will ever favor us in this kind of war. Two flankers are heading to Abuja, what will you do? You ve seen them, you know they are coming what will you do? That is what I asked you to tell me not all this stories of the unexpected. People are arming their country you think they don't know big English like you, or you think people in other part of the world that are defending their nation have not seen the word "unexpected" in a dictionary before?

Even if Sudan was to fill a civilian cargo plane with barrel bomb and fly it into Nigerian airspace escorted by its flankers armed with Air-Air missiles we still won't be able to drop the cargo plane before the barrels start rolling

Bros, you should be reading story books. It seems warfare is too complex for you and I don't have time to start explaining things you. If you like building Arial refuel plane for them to reach Lagos or akwa ibom 3000+ km away and another 3000+km back just to drop bomb where? We are talking of a country with no foreign Reserve reserve (<$1Billion), a country where 80% of the population are small scale desert farmers with inflation almost 26% as we speak. If Russia and America refuse to sell weapons China and other are always available. For your question on attacking Nigeria with mig 29 I believe I have already answered that previously.

NAF defends itself with only f-7 till jf-17 arrival 2018. I think NAF put eyes on cheap $50 million mig-29M2 that Egypt got this year, but now if Sudan news of su-35 is true, NAF will worry about 3,000KM range stealthy jet armed Sudan just 1,000KM away from Nigeria, it can flyover Chad, enter Nigeria, do damage, go back with same fuel tank. I think NAF may change choice from mig-29M2 to the stealthy mig-35 to checkmate a nearby country posing with su-35. Only mig-35 can stop su-35 in Africa apart from Rafale. I hope arms race is not starting, Senegal's navy is negotiating for small fast attack ships with antiship missiles in our Gulf of Guinea, Senegal has found $2 billion gas field offshore and wants to build muscle to guard their golden water. Nobody wants to be pushed robbed like mumu nowadays.

That Taharqa999 guy is high on Sudan brewed ogogoro, most of his data are fake from Wikipedia that people manipulated. Google Sudan on IMF or World Bank database. Sudan is cash broke to the grave, $ 50 billion foreign debt, $ 200 million forex reserve like poor Eritrea. Sudan poverty rate at 50% of population, industrialization at 2% of GDP, the rest is mostly cattle and corn. Since South Sudan broke free from them, no oil to put in the oil refinery they built, so they must envy Nigeria swimming in 200 billion barrels of crude oil, bitumen, condensate and gas combined. His 35 mig-29 is actually only 13 second hand mig-29 on global aviation records. The su-35 jets we are told they got is likely the new loan from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Flying sukhoi flanker jets while drinking gari and groundnut. Their navy has been brain dead since Somali pirates reduced them to level below Ijaw speed boat militants. Their skinny army is doing mercenary errand boy for Gulf Arab states in Yemen in exchange for more cash loans to survive. When Nigerian army commandos raid their Sudan air force bases capture the place, their su-35 will land in the hands of SBS and AFSF and surrender. They will regret borrowing money to buy air superiority with a dead navy and mercenary army. Maybe we should leave the guy alone and avoid his impending derailment of the thread.

Sudan brewed ogogoro mixed with weed grin Chief you don't take prisoners at all grin

Al Bashir has just been caught on tape in Sochi mortgaging Sudan to Putin. In fact it appeared he'd have even gone on his knees begging Russia in front of the cameras to save him from the US. He claims they divided his country. Apparently that explains the Su-35s which won't come as powerful countries in the west and Nigeria will lobby against it. At best they'd get a watered down version that's not a threat to our air superiority. That's what many don't know that regional hegemons lobby hard in weapons transfer and sale. Uganda is an example with Su-30s with almost non-existent lethal capacity.

Intelligence tells us Al Bashir is not deterred though as he's offering the Russians basing rights like in Syria to deploy and man the jets and have access without restrictions to every thing Sudan like they do in Syria. We will see that don't happen. Our hands are full already with the French. NAF is on constant sorties in the northern-east flank many think just against Bokos but Air RECCE detects lots of things up there.

If need be those deadly operators you mention may soon be on kidnap duties to quietly bring Al Bashir in for questioning in Abuja and thereafter turn him over to the ICC catchers.

Biko let's not take the joke too far. This is the Sudan rag-tag Chadian rebels got to Khartoum before they could muster any sort of defense. They threw barrel bombs from planes for years yet couldn't defeat the SPLA or numerous Sudanese armed groups. Warfare is not simplistic like you make it seem because someone buys shiny toys. Saudi Arabia is on the back foot with Houthi's rebels. Sudan is in no shape or form able to prosecute a war against Nigeria. There's a reason why Nigeria invests heavily in the 5th dimension of warfare to be heads and above everyone in Africa including those flying Rafales.

You don't go to war with only one arm of the military. But let's say Air warfare against Sudan with current capabilities. NAF elements and by that I mean the full spectrum of it's eyes in the sky from satellites to it's configured AWAC system to TRACON that can see beyond Chad and Cameroon will detect, see and track whatever the Sudanese put up there and link data with it's assets in the air and on the ground for alternate angle of kill position before they know what hit them.

More importantly we will detect and see whatever is on ground before it takes off assuming it does take off because we don't spend millions of dollars on some of the best fighting units on earth for nothing and that's the kind of job they love to do. Initiative is the first principle in the art of warfare. When air power loses it's element of surprise it's over.

NAF's large pool of dedicated and highly skilled combat pilots, technicians, engineers, planners etc is the most critical factor in the equation something missing in Sudan to a large degree.

Saudi Arabia is up to no good especially in these parts with Senegal and others. It will come home to haunt that young prince whose now in trouble with everybody at home, in the region and now Germany. Europeans never forget. The days of that monarchy might just be numbered.

True, NAF is in the hunt for Air Superiority Aircrafts and advanced fighter trainers. The Flankers were the dream now ostensibly is the Migs. Dunno what the defense minister saw or was told by the vendors. On paper they are perhaps the most deadly Russia has to offer but it has not been proven in combat like the flankers. As I've said I smell corruption in the wings. Still with the geo-political provocations we need long range fighters for valuable options to the commander-in-chief.

The JF-17s are just Wow! And when they come in they'd be a great nemesis to all enemies foreign and domestic. Already the PAK Air Chief says the JF-17 Thunder excel the F-16 in three dimensions. So can't wait for Nigeria's first three examples set to arrive.

The Roland SAMs are mobile which is one advantage. However obsolete compared to more modern systems they are effective and deadly. The current Air-defense batteries are radar guided. However the stand-off option of modern fighters is why the S-400 is a necessity for us. Still the argument is we don't have a threat of that magnitude.

Those taking in big ticket items paid for by others will have to maintain them. Then we will see whose boss. Nigeria should just keep an eye on things and do the needful.

And as sure as you are reading this, in warfare someone always does a damage. We can't fight a nation and not expect to get hit one way or another but what's important is that we determine how it ends.

Sukhoi is desired by we Nigerians, but NAF chose mig. It may not be corruption deal, mig-35 is more advanced than su-35 with AESA radar and potential laser weapon for space age warfare like star wars. Add stealthy design and extended ferry range 3,000KM the mig-35 is a long range killer built to kill NATO stealth jets f-22 Raptor and f-35. A gentleman on this forum said NAF likely chose mig because NAF already has jf-17 using mig jet engines so its easy maintenance, easy training of mechanics, easy spare parts availability. NAF wants air power that is available for war, not just available on internet pictures. Maintenance is key to available jets for long lasting war.

I think NAF will use mig as long shot jet outside Nigeria, because of those rafales, sukhois, migs, mirages flying all around us. The jf-17 will replace f-7 at home against less advanced threats. NAF is advancing far above the jaguar jet days, our guided bombs, guided everything weapons are coming home to TAC Makurdi base 2018. Alpha jets are only 'playing their last world cup appearance mathces' for this country with Boko Haram

what you keep thinking is that Nigeria is the only country investing on skilled hands, what you keep thinking is that all this your big big grammar is not available to Sudanese defense planners. The mistake you keep making my dear brother, is that somebody smart enough to invest on its defense industry to even start exporting sophisticated military technology outside its borders is not thinking ten steps ahead of the theives and Looters that swam the ship house abuja.
You are right we won't be surprised but what you guys keep failing to tell me is: what will you do if he silhouettes of Sudanese jets graces our night sky in Nigeria? What will you do? That's all I am asking. And you keep telling me you will see it coming, which of course would give you enough time to intercept if you have anything to intercept it with. Believe you me this corrupt Nigerian politicians will send innocent airmen to their death by asking them to ride against the Migs in those old rusty F7s and a lot of good men will die, and when the politicians see that we have nothing to defend ourselves with against this attack they will start flying out of the country. Governors, ministers, commissioners and heads of services will jet out of the country. If you think a rich politician that stole the money for defending Nigeria will die with you in that same Nigeria you are deceiving yourself. In a real situation a formation of Sudanese jets headed for the capital city of any Nigerian country is enough to create a Banana Republic in Nigeria. This cowards politicians didn't plan to die for Nigeria, they will fly out and leave us at the time that we want them the most. Your mistake is thinking that people that were irrational before a war would become rational when it starts. Dude weep when you can for NIgeria.

Last I checked your Sudanese formations didn't stop the creation of S. Sudan nor did it stop any of the numerous rebel groups. Were that the case I'll take you seriously. If they couldn't make a difference in their country with all those technology and jets u mention then they can't pull off anything in Chad (which they tried but couldn't for years) not to talk of Nigeria. Sudan has no capacity to wedge a full scale war not even against S.Sudan. It's president is in Russia right now begging for help. It is a poor country. Stop the joke pls.

Dude, Sudan is in no shape or form able to do what you're saying. Nigerian politicians may be stealing (not good) but will never abandon their oil for you. They will go to the ends of the earth to get the tool necessary to make any aggressor regret it's actions assuming they dare.

Sudanese jets are scrappy jets even if they are mig-29s. Our F-7s are more modern than what they have and flown by better trained pilots with more combat time in the air. It is not having jets but having an Air Force that can conduct the full spectrum of Air Warfare. And in this area stretching up to Sudan only Nigeria actually has an Air Force. It is not Sudan that will be attacking Nigeria it is the other way round. Ask the experts.

In the past Kenya Navy has been training its personnel abroad but this tradition has changed ever since the service decided to embrace new skills and knowledge acquired over years by conducting the same locally in their annual training cruise dubbed Ex-Jitegemee (self-reliance). The main objective of the training cruise is to equip junior officers with vast knowledge and skills conducted under high standards of sea training, crew training, testing equipment and machinery and flag showing (diplomacy).
As a tradition, Ex-Jitegemee XIX was flagged off by Commander Kenya Navy Maj Gen L F Mghalu on 18 September 2017 accompanied by Commander Kenya Navy Fleet. The training will cover a total of 3473 Nautical miles in approximately 1 month covering ports; Victoria Seychelles, Toamasina Madagascar, Ile Mayotte and Dare Salaam Tanzania. The training covers practical activities conducted under strict safety measures and high professional standards for young officers after 12 months of theory.
Commander Kenya Navy Fleet Brig C Kahariri welcomed the commander Kenya Navy to grace this year’s auspicious occasion and expressed the satisfaction undertaken by the crew to prepare the resources provided to make the training cruise a success which involve KNS Jasiri and KNS Shupavu. He also emphasized on the need to embrace the spirit of team work in order to better understand ones role which translates to execution of primary role.
Speaking during the flag off, Commander Kenya Navy Maj Gen Mghalu stated that the training cruise offers the crew with an ample opportunity for extensive training and also offers a platform to exercise professionalism that goes a long way in upholding the mission of Kenya Navy of defending the nation against sea borne aggression. He further encouraged the young officers to develop sea legs that will propel them to be entrusted with full responsibilities on board the ships in future. Maj Gen Mghalu advised all the sailors to be good ambassadors of KDF while at sea and during their various diplomatic visits. Due to the current security situation, the commander highlighted the need to be extra vigilant and embrace situational awareness while at sea and in port. Finally, he appreciated the efforts played by families in supporting the service members to execute their tasks of defending the nation. Lastly, he wished the crew and the trainees fair winds and following sea.

1. Commander Kenya Navy Major General Levi Mghalu addressing service members during the Cruise flag off event at the Kenya Navy Fleet.

2. Commander Kenya Navy Maj Gen Levi Mghalu greeting Lt Andieka one of the officer participating in the training.

If need be those deadly operators you mention may soon be on kidnap duties to quietly bring Al Bashir in for questioning in Abuja and thereafter turn him over to the ICC catchers.

Ask the experts.
it's a waste of time talking to you

SupremeCourt:

My friend, JF17 versions NAF will own would have MIG 29 type engines, refuelling capability and a radar at par/ better than SU 35. Getting to Sudan is refuelling over Maiduguri and meeting the aircraft's on the way back.

There are so many factors to capability that you should not be shallow or mechanistic in thinking. Gadhaffi's Libya and Saddam's Iraq were examples of countries with loads of hardware and low capability. Iran, UAE, Nigeria and Jordan are examples of countries starting to emphasize acquisition of holistic capabilities instead of mindless buying of weapons that makes you prey to scams from developed countries.
