i think they were unlucky to face the brazilians in the 2nd round. the ghanaians did all the playing while brazil did all the scoring. if ghana had faced england, ukraine or even portugal that year i dare say they would have won Icon4s: |

SupremeBeast:Ok, you got to the quarter finals just from your first two attempts, we topped our group of deaths twice in our first two attempts but never got to the quarter finals. You were unlucky not to get past Uruguay in 2010, while Nigeria was also unlucky not to get past a highly rated Italian team(and eventual finalists) in 1994 after white washing another highly rated Bulgarian team(then). ln the end, neither side have won the world cup yet, but both have shown promise with some spectacular performances, so what is the fuss about? On this thread, lvorycoast, Mali, Cameroon, South Africa etc, have been mentioned, so tell me what is so special about mentioning Ghana? 11 Likes |

SerVik: My brother the kind things we see from those guys. Many of them have been banned severally on nairaland. Some for as long as 100 years. Hahaha. You needed to have visited the sports section those years when they were allowed in here to run their mouths all in a bid to probably make nairaland an international forum. Loz!!! 4 Likes |

chrisooblog: Abegi, you make me laugh. Go watch the game again. Was it not even when they were 3-0 down already that they were trying to see if they could at least have the achievement of scoring against Brazil? Even if na one. |

Icon4s:Haha.. No need to tell me sir, I witnessed it all. Those days we didn't have a super Eagles thread on nairaland, we only had a black stars thread and they barely discussed soccer, all they did was insult Nigeria. Guys like naijanoni, collynzo, adamskuti etc and the ever present safarigirl always met them word for word. Only God knows where that thread is today. I don't miss them sha 3 Likes |

Icon4s:nairaland is still and will never be international, like all the foreigners here, I was searching for something on Google and it kept directing towards this forum. I created an account because you guys were attacking Ghanaians on this forum not this thread but the forum. up until today you people still do it. |

Icon4s:2018 is just around the corner so we will see whether Nigerians fine form can be repeated at the World Cup. we will see whether you can make it to the semis if you do then I will respect Nigerian football. |

Congrats to our chief information officer and super eagles encyclopedia on the birth of your daughter. What a crowning joy for thanksgiving. Your daughter will grow up great and be a role model for her generation by the Grace of God. I hereby approve of a mini vacation for you from nairaland as you get into some diaper duties and daddy duties. God bless you sir. 6 Likes |

SupremeBeast:Your hope as a black man should rather be that we do well. We have moved beyond Africa. We are now on the World stage. That's why I would have preferred that at least one country from the southern part of Africa qualified cos those North Africans don't really see themselves as part of the continent but as Arabs. Look Bro, it's an African project now. All of Africa will share in the spoils of our victory. Go to any youtube video containing highlights of our recent victory over Argentina and you'd see heartwarming comments from Zambians, Eritreans, Ethiopians, Moroccans, Egyptians, Liberians sharing in our joy. It's for all of us. Iwobi said we do it for Naija. Naija says we do it for Africa, for this beautiful black race that we are. And come to think of it: Cameroun gave Africa the believe at Italia 90 that we can go beyond second round, at USA 94 we did good and barely missed the qtr finals. Senegal went so far as the qtr finals after pipping the defending champions France. In 2010 Ghana also made the Continent proud. Right now something is ticking for Nigeria. We are not looking at getting past the qtr finals just so we can boast over Ghana, Cameroun and Senegal(but we go boast ooo). We want to do well to lift up the Continent, to show that on the global stage African football has come of age. Join hands with us. Let's put our pettiness aside. We do this for Mama Africa. It's time Bro. It's time 22 Likes 3 Shares |
